Default Nomura comments on NGP/Sony in Famitsu.

There was a short bit in this week's Famitsu with some Square-Enix folks.
While not entirely KH-related, it does provide some insight into his development opinions.
Here's what Nom-chan had to say:

Square-Enix director Tetsuya Nomura was asked about his thoughts on the NGP in this week's Famitsu. Nomura cites Sony Computer Entertainment Japan for making collaborations on current and existing Sony platforms conducive to a good development environment. SCEJ officials spent a lot of time visiting Square-Enix [on current projects] and listening to their demands and were very patient. He considers his contacts at SCEJ invaluable for further development on titles for their platforms and Sony seems dedicated to pushing the hardware and technology envelope. "Keeping our connections [with SCEJ] will allow us to create great things."

In terms of what Sony and Square-Enix have been working on recently on currently, it may be related to Final Fantasy Versus XIII and how SCEJ has been helping them adapt the game to Crystal Tools (and subsequently the PS3) given the companies past difficulties with the HD engine.

    Well that's good to hear.
I just still hope BBSv2 isn't released on it.

Sounds good, but does that mean that it'll be in a different disc thingy that we won't be able to play it on the PSP?

Well the NGP and the PSP are different.

What can happen is that we should be able to play PSP games on the NGP, but not the other way around.

Sadly we won't be able to play PSP games on the NGP I believe. They said they're dropping the UMD support on that or something like this...

Yeah, instead of the UMDs, NGP games will be on cartridges of their own (Think DS). What backwards compatibility we have at the moment is connected to the PSN. Any Downloaded PSN games will work on the NGP, so those who have PSP Gos are pretty much set (seeing as they'll only have downloads). But for those of us with UMDs (And worse, UMD only games like Crisis Core and BBS), we're screwed for those games unless the various companies decide to finally make the games available for download. So, unlike most Nintendo systems, the NGP currently doesn't have "Exact" Backwards Compatibility. It releases at the end of the year (In which region, we have no idea), so we'll find out then, or in the fall whether or not they'll try to do something about the UMDs.

But I agree with everyone else when I say I don't want BBS V.II. for the NGP. That would not be a good idea on SEs part. They've got two games for the DS, time for two on the PSP. It makes more sense to release V.II. on the PSP when you think about it.

I seriously hate when they make up a new console and kills backwards compatibility. Granted that I like to play games on their own consoles mostly, but that's still annoying. I forgot Crisis Core didn't got a digital release tough. (I have many awesome memories from this game!).

Also, I wouldn't like BBSV2 coming out on the new console too. Why in order to follow something they like the fans are forced to buy every console of this world...?

Story of my life. I'm always hoping for backwards compatibility in case my older system craps out and I still want to play the games from them. I've never had a system die before (I still have my Sega Genesis running perfectly)... but there's always that potential that it will! That and my PSP is a bit wonky... It acts similar to the KH:BBS bundle PSPs... :\

I understand how you feel, my PS2 is kinda dying as we talk, and my PS3 can't read it's discs...ugh.
I hope that someday the backward compatibility with the PS2 games the first PS3s had will come back.

Umm...what sense would there be in being able to play next generation games on an older console? That doesn't make any sense. -_-
