If by relationship to Sora Kairi.
Better overall character Namine.
I love Kairi and all but I see her flaws, and Namines flaws. But for this little thing I will go through I will side Namine just for not giving her a fair choice in the OP.
Sora and Roxas are the same person
30-40 seconds dont really count
Yeah. And the only time Kairi was important was? I mean really in KH1 it was mostly trying to convert Riku from "religion" as I like to call it and KH 2 she got herself into trouble when the story was about 70% through. In Days Namine has a larger role
If Warping reality t make certain people do certain things isnt a weapon neither is the Keyblade.
Sorry just stating opinions from Namines point of view. What you said is what I would have said looking at it from Kairis direcrtion.

I will have to go with Namine. I never really liked Kairi. She is useless.
We all say life isn't fair.
We say it all the time.
But know something,
You can't always get what you want!!!!
So STOP being emo and deal with it!
You people just don't understand!
Well i'm like everyone else, they both play there roles, but when I played KHII and saw that Kairi got a Keyblade I thought, "what??" but I do Like Namine, though she doesn't fight, she is helpful, to me the only way that I could see namine coming back is if something happens to Kairi, but I do like them both, they have there roles, but lean a little more for Namine. Both are cool though.

nobody is much better then miss SORA I NEED U!
Mew Mew style! Mew Mew grace! Mew Mew power in your face!
They're both just kinda there for me. Sometimes I don't like them, sometimes I do. I guess I'm just neutral.

No, I don't want Kairi to be a deux ex machina. That Radiant Garden memory thing is just an example, proof that her PoH status can still tie her to the plot. Or if you want to go with the slightly less creative way, you can say that Kairi was kidnapped for Kingdom Hearts, not simply because her kidnapping would make Sora angry, which would be true for any of Sora's friends.
And heck, I wouldn't mind as much if Kairi is a deux ex machina (well, one with certain limitations that is). Anything but being irrelevant to the plot, which is inexcusable for a main character.
Plus, it's not just her abilities that can be explored. If the writers choose for her to be powerless, so be it, but explore the concept. Like, what gave Kairi pure light? Does she have negative thoughts even though she has no darkness?
You're telling me that because the games never pursued the PoH concept, then it would be senseless for me to expect Kairi to be relevant in terms of the role she plays as a PoH. And that's what I'm saying. Because the games never chose to explore it in the first place. And hence, Kairi's role, a role which could have been unique as a PoH, is diminished. For repetitiveness: Disney canon. You have to be cautious as to what you actually are providing these princesses that would enable them to help themselves, rather than princes saving them. Or be active in not falling for the villain's means. There's not much that can be done without crossing a borderline that would make one wonder, "well...why didn't they use that?". I'm sure Nomura is aware of this, and it's incredible how we didn't figure it out sooner as to why they limit them so much. The PoH have been said to be nothing, but hearts of pure light that could open the keyhole. Nothing more, nothing less. To have a "gripe" with some plot purpose that hasn't been pursued in canon is...:/. We all want our imagination of what KH could be to come into fruition: doesn't mean it's going to be.
I'm giving my opinion on what the PoHs are supposed to be from the start, and can still be, at least when explored through Kairi. As for the other PoHs not being powerful enough to free themselves from their own troubles, think of it this way: Keyblade wielders need to be trained, so why can't PoHs? It's not as if having pure light automatically gives you access to all the hidden powers. I must stress that this is all fanfic, but that's my point: The sky's the limit when you are the actual writers for the game. If us fans can come up with something like that, why can't the writers? Why must the writers be restricted by Disney canon, when they can preserve it while pushing the boundaries for their original characters?
And if you want to talk Disney canon:
Yen Sid is a Keyblade Master, and yet seeing him fight with a Keyblade in the KH series would go against actual canon. Hence he is written as retired. The same can be done for the PoHs, really.
Because the way that plot point is pulled off. After spending two games being useless in terms of combat skills, she is suddenly given a Keyblade when she was never conceived as a Keyblade wielder, just a Princess of Heart. To give her a Keyblade just to make her be able to fight, heck, to let her fight just to be relevant to the plot, disregarding her original role (which is way more interesting), is lazy writing. It's like a quickie solution to the fans' complaints that Kairi is useless. Namine can hardly fight, yet her existence has severely impacted the series. And speaking of gripes, this is mine: why is it wrong and generic when Kairi, apparently, is the one that gets the weapon? She was the first female, officially, to ever wield one after Sora, Riku, Mickey, and Roxas. Then came the others, despite that Xion is debatable. You have those two, and two others, Terra and Ventus. Then you have MX, then you have Eraqus. Then you have Vanitas. And this is not even TOUCHING all the millions, it seems, that fought in the Keyblade War. Face it: the Keyblade isn't special. It isn't unique anymore. So to hold it in a pedestal and comment on how its whored out when Kairi happens to get one is meaningless.
Which could have been explored more effectively if we continuously SEE Kairi's interactions with Riku, which we never did beyond KH1.A sit down with Riku and Kairi where she explains her feelings when he was obviously being tempted by Darkness, and how she didn't know how to handle it or think of what it was could easily solve many implications.
And that's the thing: Kairi is a main character, yet we don't know that much about her. Which, now that we're more than halfway through the Xehanort Saga, is a really bad thing. That's another thing: we never experience Kairi's thoughts. With Sora, we get that and more. But with Kairi, we're left to figure out her motivations, other than KH2 where it was somewhat remedied.

Oh god, please don't make me choose. They are both okay and they both suck at the same time, so yeah...
(did I post here already?)
Kogan. It's the answer.
They're both alright, in my opinion, but I'm going to have to go with Kairi. We haven't been able to see much of her character, but I think she has potential to grow and develop in the future, especially considering how Nomura seems to be turning her into a Keyblade bearer.
Namine's decent as well, but I think her role's pretty much been played out and they've done everything that could be done with her character.
They're both certainly not the best characters in the series, but Kairi has the chance to develop later on, while Namine does not.
I'm so-so on the subject.
I would have to say Namine.
But if Kairi gets a more useful role in the series, then I might change my mind. ~

I said Kairi but I voted for Namine. I think I need to see what happens with them in future games before I can tell.
Superb~
For some reason i like kairi a lot better. I have seen her most often in the games
