| "translation please!" | ![]() History Origins of the keyblade of to this point have been unclear. Starting from KH1 each world has recognized the Keyblade as a unique and powerful weapon. One legend mentioned states that the Keyblade master saved the world, while another said he wrought chaos and destruction upon it. This may or may not have to do with the mysterious Keyblade that happened before the events of BBS. This also makes learning exactly when the first keyblades were made hard to tell as the war took place before BBS. However it should be known that both King Triton and Ursula both knew of the weapon's power. Powers Used as a sword, the Keyblade is shown to be very efficient in battle against humans, animal, heartless, nobodies, etc. As the weapon's name states it is a "key", as such its main purpose is to "lock" or "unlock" anything. In KH1 it was used to lock the keyholes from the Heartless, while in KH2 it was used to open paths to other worlds (as of yet it is unknown how it will be used [aside from combat] in BBS). As a lesser form of this ability it can unlock any lock, open treasure chests, and unseal any barrior or sealed interior. To wield a keyblade one of the requirements are to have a strong heart. However it is said by Master Xehanort that those who fall into darkness are not qualified to wield this weapon. This statement can be supported as though he did wield it for a time Riku lost KK to Sora because his fall into the darkness in his heart and Sora's stronger heart. Also only a chosen wielder may use the Keyblade. Though it is true that KK is only used by Sora it can be wielded by another wielder (example: Riku in KH1), however it cannot be used by those not chosen (example: Jack Sparrow). The Keyblade is also a great conductor of magic. Appearance Each keyblade is made up of three main parts: a guard on the handle, the hilt, and the head with teeth similar to a skeleton key (except for Fenrir which is shaped as a pin tumble key). Every keyblade seems to be based of a theme, either a world or a person from a world. Now with KK it seems to be able to changed form based on either the keychain of gear attached to it. Two examples are when Sora attaches the lucky charm and KK changes into Oathkeeper and when roxas attaches the ultimate gear and KK turns into TwilightBlaze. Neither of these two reasons however explain how Riku's Soul Eater changed to Way to the Dawn or how Roxas transformed both his KK into Oathkeeper and Oblivion. Wielders Including BBS characters there are now 9 chosen wielders of the keyblade. From KH1 there are Sora, Riku, and KingMickey and from BBS there are Terra, Ven, Aqua, Master Xehanort, Apprentice Vanitas, and Master Erauqs. As stated by Nomura, a qualification to wielding the keyblade is needing to have a strong heart. MX has later said that "those who fall into darkness are not qualified to wield the keyblade." This can be interpretted however as "those who fall into darkness do not deserve to wield the keyblade." Both statements can be backed up by the fact that when Riku dove into darkness and was consumed by it he was unable to use the keyblade. However when he conquered the darkness and controled it he regained the power. This can explain how MX and Vanitas (both of whom are seen as antagonists in BBS) are able to use their keyblades. Roxas and Xion are special wielders as they were not directly chosen by the keyblade to be wielded. The reason they could use the keyblade is that they were parts of Sora (Roxas=Nobody, Xion=Replica). Kairi is also a special case and according to Nomura she can use the keyblade because of her connection to wielders and her strong heart (PoH), though the keyblade that she uses is not officially hers. Birth By Sleep/Keyblade War As seen in BBS there are both masters and apprentices who are taught how and why to use the keyblade. Now from the first trailer "the Gathering" up to recent screenshots TAV's keyblades each are without keychains. The reason for this is unknown because even though Vanitas is an apprentice his keyblade does have a keychain (along with MX's and ME's keyblades). Then recent screenshots have shown that Terra's keyblade does have a keychain with a silver pentagon-shaped chain with a diamond-shaped charm. (The screenshot I talk about is in the neverland section of the BBS official site [ KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep ]) Though the subject on Terra's new keychain is currently open discussion this may prove that Ven's and Aqua's keychains may also be revealed in BBS. The Keyblade War was first announced in "the Gathering" secret ending. The Gathering Place, or Sunset Horizon as its known, has a 4 way crossroads (similar to the crossroads shown in CoM and R&R) that are formed by thousands of keyblades stuck in the ground. According to MX these keyblades are remenets of the Keyblade War which was a battle between those of Light and Darkness. This statement then proves three things: 1) Keyblades were made way before BBS and 2) a wielder can chose how they use the keyblade. In the crossroads both old and new keyblades have been shown in the ground and this brings up some speculation. Of the old Fenrir, WishingLamp, and Inverse KK have been shown in the ground. This then makes one wonder how KK can take the form of these keyblades. Also since (according to Kairi's grandmother) the worlds were all one once was the KeybladeWar what caused the world to split up. and If so was it then that some keyblade became attributed to a world (Circle of Life= Pridelands [Lion King]). Misc. Points -The same beam used to open/close pathways has also been used in combat against Xemnas. -Though gaining a keychain Terra's keyblade did not change form. -Riku's, MX's, and AV's keyblades each have a blue eye on them -Keyblades come from both Light and Dark realms though none have seem to come from the Realm of Nothingness The rest is up to all of you. Now that you have most if not all the facts you can make your own theories until Birth By Sleep comes out. Last edited by LlaveEspada 0; November 11th, 2009 at 09:26 PM. Reason: finishing touches |

| Member | Its possible that the reason King Triton and Ursula knew about the keyblade is that they may have been visited by TAV in BBS, or at least that is a speculation i have heard. I'm not sure if Atlantica will be a world in BBS or not. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() Level: EXP: | its plausible but what does darkness have to do with it there are dark keyblades i mean MX and Vanitas both had one and they were obviously dark and the riku/ansem had the one that unlockes hearts (forget what its called) |

Rep Power: 1 ![]() Level: EXP: | Very interesting theory. Then how Riku weild his keyblade in KH2, after he fell into darkness. You said that in BBS, Master Xerharnort said that anyone who falls into darkness can't weild the keyblade. But he also said that in the latest trailer that this is where the remain of the keyblade war. I think either the left is where the weilder was on the dark side while the right side of the keyblade weilded is on the light. How would that explain if he said that anyone whol fell into darkness cannot weild the keyblade? |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() Level: EXP: | Maybe wen MX means theyre not "qualified" he may mean they dont deserve it, not that they cant wield it period. |

Rep Power: 1 ![]() Level: EXP: | I don't think atlantica will be in bbs but it might be in coded or kh3. Also square is probably gonna come up with some lame corny reason why all these different people can use the keyblade. They might say," All those who are friends with the keyblade wielder can use the keyblade." |

| "translation please!" | ok well according to nomura, kairi can use one for her position as a PoH and her connection with Sora. But im sure it wont be that all the friends can use keyblades lol |

Good theory... i always thought though that the key blades are kinda evil things that manipulate people to do there bidding. I know they are just objects but in Kh1 it automatically seals the door for sora in wonder land. but i am probably wrongxD

As far as the lack of Keychains in early scans and things, I'm heavily inclined to believe it was just laziness on the developers' side. It probably doesn't seem like much, but putting Keychains and the physics associated with them into a cutscene like Birth By Sleep would likely take a LOT more coding than they wanted to do at that time. Ursula and Triton... Triton said the Keyblade is nothing but trouble. I honestly doubt that ATV visiting there would cause him to think that, unless one of them went there and wreaked havoc with the other two never even going by to pick up the pieces. :\ I think it's more likely that Atlantica got caught up in the Keyblade Wars than in BBS. And one little diddy you forgot to add into that is that the Lingering Sentiment's Armor is directly related to the Keyblade. In his Journal Entry, it states his Armor allows him to wield the Keyblade better than Sora can. "The armor covering his body can master the keyblade´s power much more than Sora."
