I read in an interview quite awhile back where Nomura stated that if you want to figure out who Ven is think of who Roxas is to Sora.
My theory is that Ven is Sora's Heartless since Roxas is Sora's Nobody.

1. Heartless don't exist during BbS. They arrived after BbS
2. Sora was his own Heartless, so no.

BBS is 10 years before KH1. Sora didn't become a Heartless until the end of KH1. o.o

Sora was 4 then and didn't turn into a heartless until KH1, ten years later. Also, there are NO heartless or Nobodies in BBS.

No, Ven has something WRONG with his heart. It's not missing as far as we know.

Any idea what maleficent will do with the nobody castle in kh3?

In the trailers, Terra has been saying how MX did something to Ven's heart, implying that either he influenced it somehow directly or knows what happened. Ven never became a heartless because heartless don't exist yet, and we don't know if Unverse are after hearts.

Also, BBS takes place 10 years before KH1, which means Sora is 4, and will be stuck on the islands for another 10 years.

And to answer your other question, which is completely irrelevant to this thread, my guess is that either Maleficent successfully takes over the Castle that Never Was, or she and Pete were overwhelmed by the mass of Heartless and Nobodies.
