Default Namine's powers?
I am in the middle of the Days novel (well... only up to chapter 4 8D), when I came across this. Context: Axel's POV during CoM.

Is this saying that Namine can't create memories from scratch?? Does that:
1. contradict canon
2. mean that the memories I assumed Namine created for Sora were actually originally of Kairi anyway
3. she is lying to Axel because he's one of the org. members and she doesn't want to give them any more ammo...?
4. She learns how to create memories from scratch later and I'm just not up to there yet? Though by this point, Sora already has the paopu charm thingy.

I didn't think this had any spoilers....

Namine has never said that she can create memories. In CoM she simply said she takes apart and puts memories back together to make them into something different.

The memories Namine created for Sora were just re-workings of the memories he had of Kairi anyway, which is why he was forgetting about Kairi as he 'remembered' more about Namine.

Well, Namine was being truthful when she spoke to Axel.

No, she never learns to make memories from scratch, that's impossible, at least for her, and is up to people, through their experiences, to give themselves new memories.

Actually, they weren't.
One of Sora's strongest memories of Nami was them making a promise to one another on the night of a meteor shower. There is no feasible way that Sora can have such a memory of Kairi like that, since Kairi didn't show up until the night of said shower, and Sora didn't meet her until the next day.

Larxene said it clearly in CoM that -- yes -- Nami can create new memories.

Yeah, that's what I thought, too. But perhaps there was more than one meteor shower...? Doesn't seem likely, though. But if it were true... then it might deepen the Destiny Trio backstory a litte. I keep hearing people complain about it, especially 'Kairi having no place'.

I'd like to see the Japanese for that. Also, I wonder if Larxene was telling the truth; she was trying to make Namine look bad after all. But gah, that's too complicated, this is KH, and I don't think characters tell lies at times like that...

Well seeing what a meteor shower means in KH, I doubt there could ever be more than one.
