yeah, we need this! I'm not sure how the GoW will be set up, but you could set up the box for thre different discs:

Final Mix
ReCom
Final Mix+

Since all of those are remakes, we don't essentially need the originals. Imagine, with ReCom's good graphics to begin with, seeing it on a flat screen, blu-ray, and 1080p? EPIC! They might announce this at TGS 2010, once all three games are released in Japan. What if this was the unknown game Nomura was talking about!!!???

You honestly think repackaging 3 games part of a multi-million dollar franchise that have already been made in a new way with slightly new content is outside of Square-Enix's interest to milk the cow? They responded to KH2's success by making three brand new games.

This is extremely profitable for developers because it allows them to rehash with little cost.
Please, Square are so concerned about profits they didn't even release Re: CoM outside of the states. The reason they don't localize the Final Mixes is because it's too expensive and the profit margin wouldn't be worth it.

Days and BBS are guaranteed to sell due to the success of the series already, but there hasn't even been a mention of Coded being released in English. If they had plans to, it wouldn't have been developed for mobile phones. Square knows that mobile gaming is much larger in Japan than it is in the west, so they obviously had no intention of ever releasing it here, unless they port it to something later.

I could picture a compilation being done in Japan, but not an English release.

So long as the compilations have the FM contents, and some extras on top of that for less than the price of a new PS3 game, and maybe even with some KH3 sneak peeks, definitely.

Definitely. Updated graphics is something that would be very good to see for KH. And having the Fina Mixes in English would be great. But.....I agree with some of the people.

I don't think it's very likely to happen unless they do it for the same reason they're doing it for God of War/God of War II: to build up hype for the next installment. (i.e: KH3) It seems like tons of things are doing that these days. First "Toy Story", then "God of War", who knows what could be next?

Of course if they do release something like this, then I'll be right on board.

I can see it now.

ME: *trades in PS2 KH games and CoM for GBA* Well, it's been fun guys. *picks up PS3 version* But THIS is the future!

I've seen a thread on here about an "Ultimate Compilation" where they put every KH game (even spin-offs) in a PS3 package, but that's even less likely. Still, if this were to happen, I would also buy it.

I laugh when the 360 is left out of the loop, as I believe KH have every chance to be multi-platform now.
360 is left out because this is a PS3 compilation on Blu-Ray disc that I'm talking about. The games couldn't fit together on a DVD, and also, Sony would be more likely to do a compilation like this if there was Kingdom Hearts game coming to its system.

I'm not sure if it is just my eyesight but i cannot see a difference between Blu-Ray and normal DVD's
Either you're playing on the wrong kind of TV, or yes, it's your eyes.

It's on one Blu-Ray disc.

With each PS2 game being no more than 9GB, you can easily fit all three in a Blu-Ray disc of 50GB.

Not really, with 7 total planned/released Kingdom Hearts games alone.

Quote:

Because Europe and Australia are much smaller markets when concerned with Japanese games.
In fact, North America is THE most profitable market for the Kingdom Hearts series. Doubling or tripling sales from other regions in some cases.

(Cumulative series shipment over 10 million units / December 2006)

KINGDOM HEARTS (North American Release: September 1st, 2002, PlayStation 2)
Japan: Over 1.5 million – North America: Over 3.0 million – Europe and PAL: Over 1.1 million
KINGDOM HEARTS: Chain of Memories (December 7th, 2004, Game Boy Advance)
Japan: Over 0.4 million – North America: Over 0.9 million – Europe and PAL: Over 0.2 million
KINGDOM HEARTS II (March 28 th, 2006, PlayStation 2)
Japan: Over 1.1 million – North America: Over 1.7 million – Europe and PAL: Over 0.7 million

And this was almost 3 years ago.

But I suppose translating ALL of Re:Chain of Memories and hiring all new voice actors and bringing Haley Joel Osment back was cheap, right? Cheaper than porting Final Mix over with just a few new scenes?

Because our phone technology is not as good as Japan's. However, there's rumor of it maybe coming to iPhone at some point. Maybe they can release it as a PSP Mini.

Quote:

They didn't outright plan to develop for the mobile phone just to intentionally leave out the states.

Well the God of War compilation, as far as I know, is not even releasing in Japan.
I'd expect it in America first. As I said before, North America is THE most profitable market for the Kingdom Hearts series. We are hungrier for Kingdom Hearts than Japan is.

Well that's the wonderful thing--if it proves successful, and they start doing more compilations and they sell and sell, eventually Sony will simply re-release PS2 games on PS3 discs just for the sake of having it done and making more money on games already developed. Ratchet and Clank pack, Jak and Daxter pack, Persona pack; I can see it all.

It would sort of be Sony's apology for removing backwards compatibility for the PS3 by asking you to reluctantly buy PS2 games again.

I mean, Sony already started this sort of last year with the Metal Gear Solid Collector's Pack that had all 3 MGS games in one bundle for the release of MGS4.

Not really. I already own all of the KH games so I wouldn't buy them again for my PS3. With GoW that's different, because although I beat the games I dont own them. And the only reason that collection is coming out is because of GoW III.

If ports all of a sudden started getting made for random games we will hear loads of people complaining why this game and that game didn't get a port and that one did.

I don't think KH is popular enough to get that kind of option yet either. There are loads of other epic games on the PS2 that I would pick to port before KH. Maybe by the time a KH III comes around (if one does) then a collection may be nice.

Only if they included final mix version. There was never a framerate problem in the KH series. (Unless you hacked like I did and had 2 Sepiroths doing their meteor attacks at the same time. )
If S-E ever does that, hopefully the next main KH game is out because I don't want to wait any longer.

I say it would be really cool because I would love for PS3 to play the old PS2 games only improved... I wouldn't be surprised if the only brought back the old greatest hits from PS1 and the PS2...

Neither with God of War.

But 60FPS is a much smoother difference than the console standard of 30FPS.

Being able to play KH on the PS3 is a must, adding trophies an even greater must and if the price would be friendly, I would get it for sure.
