Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Personally, I think Squenix and Disney are a lot alike in their relationship to violence - they each do what's necessary, and no more. As an example, take Scar's death in The Lion King. Do we need to see him get torn apart by the hyenas? Of course not. The scene would have been considerably worse if they felt the need to show that in detail. On the flipside, there are some scenes where the violence really is needed. Taking an example from Squenix's side this time, Zack's death in Crisis Core wouldn't have been nearly as effective if it had been done off-screen and covered up. Disney, of course, isn't willing to push quite as far, apart from movies like Pirates of the Carribean and (to a lesser extent) Narnia. But, that doesn't tend to take away from the movies, because they always choose to make things happen in such a way that more violence wouldn't be necessary, and would probably just turn people off. And, as has already been mentioned, both companies have been shown to be willing to make things even more violent than KH has been. Which makes it kind of odd that KHII got censored, unless one of the two companies decided that the rating was more important than the actual level of violence. Squenix obviously didn't mind it being there, since it was there in the Japanese version - but that doesn't necessarily mean they wouldn't have minded the game being rated T. Disney obviously didn't mind the violence on its own, either, considering that most of the censored scenes came from their movies to begin with (the Hydra bleeding green, and the Pirates of the Carribean scenes), but, again, could have balked at the game being rated T. The real question then is, which company insisted on an E-10 rating, and would that company be willing to give that restriction up if, say, Birth By Sleep required it.
