So, let's speculate about what the Chasers are chasing, if that's what they do.
I think they might be chasing after either Kingdom Hearts (Or hearts to make it, but that would be a bit of a re-hash of the heartless.), since MX clearly wants/needs it for on reason or another, or keyblade masters, to make MX the only one.
I kinda doubt the latter, but I'm sure someone else can think of something better.

I suppose it would depend on what the Chasers are. I mean, we understand what the Nobodies want because they are creatures without hearts, so it would follow that what they are searching for is, well, hearts.

What we need to ask ourselves is: where do these creatures come from? Did MX create them? Are they darkness personified? Were they created as a result of darkness spreading throughout the worlds, as told in the story by Kairi's grandmother?

Right now, the only thing I can think of is that they are creatures of pure darkness. Not the darkness in a person's heart, just darkness with a will of its own. Perhaps they were created by MX as an experiment, to find (in this case, "chase") whatever it is he is looking for? Upon seeing these mysterious creatures, and noticing their appearance happened around the same time that MX and DS disappeared, maybe that's how VAT's master becomes suspicious of evil doings and sends VAT to look for them.

Eh. Her story seemed like more of just a fairy tale. And there wasn't really any evil creatures in it.
It pretty much focused on human greed.

That's ruled out for you already definitely.

And memories, well, those still happen.
Unless these creatures aren't naturally occurring *which seems plausible and likely* then we'd still see them.

That's a good question. I can only think of two possibilities at the moment:

1. Maybe Sora just hasn't encountered them yet? He didn't run into any lesser Nobodies in Kingdom Hearts, or Chain of Memories for that matter. (And I'm talking about Dusks, Creepers, etc. Not Organization XIII members.) Yet we know that Nobodies definitely existed at that point.

2. They were actually manufactured by MX for the sole purpose of searching for whatever he's looking for. After whatever happened in the Secret Movie happened to him, they became fewer and Mickey & co. were able to exterminate them.

Yen Sid told Sora, Donald, and Goofy that Heartless will continue to exist as long at there is darkness in people's hearts. That's why they are still around. We don't know who or what created the Chasers, if that's what they're called. So it's possible that they're extinct now.

Which means souls can't be enemies.
