Kairi - and how they could've done her better

Well, I think just about anyone who read half a post of mine anywhere in this forum knows how I feel about Kairi.

• The plot relevance Kairi as Kairi has is non-existent, and even her PoH value is lessened, seeing how those fit into the plot in the long run (namely - they don't)
• She seems pretty much detached from everyone around her, and that, sadly - includes Riku as well ("Let's take the raft and go! Just the two of us!", "Riku can take care of himself").
• The one person she somehow seems capable of caring for is Sora, and even then her understanding of events as a whole is severely lacking. I've had people tell me that she was asleep or gone during most of the games, but seeing how she was there and very much present when Sora told Leon everything that happened and she still wanted to go, I'm sorry, the girl wants to get both her and Sora dead before anything else. Also, it's not that nice saying mean things (as stated above) about the best friend he's trying his damn hardest to save.
  And let's never forget the "You know Sora's completely helpless without us, Riku!" for who could ever doubt that the only reason Sora lived until that point in KH2 is Kairi.
• For a romantic interest, it's sad to say Namine's made-up relationship with Sora made me crown the blonde one as the fitting one for the role. When we finally do get to see Kairi Sora seems more kin on leaving her behind so we won't see her again.

I've many, many things more to add, but I think that's the general gist of it. I realize a lot of people won't agree with me and they're free to post in the thread saying so.
If you do agree with me, however, Kairi could've been a much better character, you can share your thoughts about how she's flawed and how they could've done her better.
Possible future solutions to redeem her are also well received (though I think we all know those won't happen).

Wow... A lot of words... XD I read it all though! I never was really bothered by Kairi, but with all the stuff you said, I see how they could've made her better. I guess now that I think about it, it really doesn't make sense with Kairi getting kidnapped and all. XD Maybe they'll make her better in the third game now that she has a Keyblade? We've fight with Riku, so maybe well have Kairi as a party member, and she'll have more of part in the plot.

Keep in mind that Keyblade is actually Riku's. So we don't know if Kairi'll have a Keyblade in the future or not :\ I personally hope not; if they have a character they started out making into a Princess, they should stick to it.
While I wouldn't mind them turning her into my vision of how Aqua should be, it'd mean that any and all relations between Future-Kairi and the Kairi we have now is nonexistent.
