Let's ask Mr. Nomura:

Myself, one of the things I most want to do is to give Roxas more of a role to play. I think it would be interesting to flesh out more of the year he spent between his birth and disappearance. Or making Riku the main character, and writing about his desperate fight while Sora was asleep, and things like that. You get the impression that Riku summoned Roxas to a place of shadows, and that Riku is a master of shadows, so I would like to give him more exploration in the game.

I dunno... sounds like that bumped up the likelihood a bit.

maybe. and that's a big maybe. if it shows what riku and the king were doing in the realm of darkness, then i guess it might happen. might.

I hope so.
I loved playing as Riku in CoM and I think it would also be interesting to see what he did during that year.
If not, then I can see Riku being in the story a lot, I would think at least. =/

I don't honestly want to play as him but I am curious about what he did. I would have to agree with you about Riku being in the story a lot. I mean he has two fights with Roxas, and just a feeling that he is going to be very key to the plot.
