Final Fantasy 1-6 were on Nintendo consoles, with FF7 they turned to the Playstation.

Grand Theft Auto 1-3 were on the Playstation, GTA4 will be on the Xbox 360

Devil May Cry 1-3 on Playstation, DMC4 on Xbox 360.

Dragon Quest 1-6 on Nintendo, 7-8 on Playstation, Dragon Quest 9 returns to Nintendo.

Et cetera.

Square-Enix in specific, funny you mention, as there isn't a long-lasting Square Enix franchise I can think of that hasn't had a major entry of the series switch or go multi-platform to another console, besides Kingdom Hearts at this point (probably due to it being a relatively new series)

That's not to say that S-E is guaranteed to specifically try and not put it on the PS3 just to be assholes, but the game could be Multi-Platform to allow the series to reach a wider audience. And while the other titles being on the PS2 isn't necessarily a reason it's guaranteed to be on the PS3, one reason that would suggest it might would simply be because Tetsuya Nomura is a huge Sony fan, as the entire beginning of Nomura's career and mass success is from him doing work on the Playstation.

Definately PS3, Maybe Wii, Definately No for X-Box 360
Here's why:

It will definately come out on the PS3, so that the game is still running in the Sony family of consoles, and it will boost the sales of the PS3 as well, so Sony will probably do its best to make KH3 only on PS3.

If it comes out on any other console it will be the Wii, because people would love to be able to wield a Keyblade and swing it around, plus, like the PS3, it is a coonsole that is also popular in Japan.

It will not be on the X-Box 360, sorry to those who have it and can't afford anything else, but it just won't come out on the 360. It already has plenty of sales, and it's not that popular in Japan.

As I stated above, Developers don't abide to things like "tradition" and past exclusivity to bind their series to one platform, especially not Square-Enix, if they feel that their demographic is on another platform, or that going Multi-Platform will help them reach a wider audience, the fact that previous games were on console doesn't mean they're like "aww, maaan, we gotta stick to this because we did before ;_;"

The fact that the 360 doesn't do well in Japan doesn't necessarily mean anything to Japanese developers, because the US and European video game markets are each 2x the size of Japan's. Hence why developers like Capcom, Namco Bandai, Mistwalker, etc. choose to put their games on the 360, and simply sell them to the Western market in specific, because frankly the Japanese market is really stuck up.

This isn't a very well-known fact, but Kingdom Hearts is really not that popular in Japan. Japan is actually where Kingdom Hearts sells the least out of all 3 regions, and the market that buys it the most? America.

No, it should not be on multiple consoles, if it was, BBS and 358/2 days should be on the PS2 as well as Coded, then we can afford it instead of paying $280 for 2 consoles plus a mobile phone, no. Just give the other consoles another game, not a multi platform game.

Multiplatform. It would be a smart move for SE because the sales would almost certainly go up. Plus, I would like to play it on Wii. But if SE would really do a great game for each console they wouldn't be disappointed, I'm pretty sure they would get more money.

Sorry, I just can't stop looking but I don't think they need to make this Multi, SE probably knows that if they just put one game title on a console exclusively most people would cave in and buy the system for that one game. It's happened with many titles, and I'm sure if they put it on the PS3, people would buy it, if they put it on the Wii people would buy it, and if they put it on the Xbox 360 people would buy that.

A console can't ruin a series, because the quality of a series is dependent on the people developing the games. So saying that the series would fail, is saying that you don't have faith in Tetsuya Nomura, or Square-Enix's ability to develop a good game.

Microsoft has no direct involvement with developers simply because they're developing for their platform, so there's no reason it'd get "Microsoft" unless it was a game actually developed by Microsoft

I wouldn't be surprised if there were more threads on "KH3" than on the 3 new games in this section.
