Yeah, if he tries to get more power, then he would end up being king...
Meaning Mickey must have stopped him and that's what made him king... being the strongest. (and kindest)
Now that I look at it, there are some similarities. Not as much as I thought but it looks like they once had somethng in common.

good theory. but maybe a bit cliche? many bad guys and good guys once worked together. but altough that, it's a really good theory!

This is not fully impossible. Though it would be weird that Yen-Sid never said a thing, but there would probably an explanation to that, too. I am pretty sure that MX never finished his training under Yen-Sids supervision, but left off studying darkness. Kind of like Xehanort. But it is possible.

I like this idea because it puts kinda a twist on things. I think if this is true MX just betrayed Yen-Sid so Yen-Sid sent Mickey to go get him. Then MX gets his own apprentice (DS) and Mickey finds VAT fighting MX and DS so he helps them out to defeat MX.

This is a different idea that I haven't heard before and people keep on repeating stuff so this is actually really nice to see something different.

I like this theory alot too... i reckon im going to go with it 99.9% lol... has anyone noticed how fat mickey looks there? lol,, sorry, had to point it out. And also saying that Mickey stopped MX would explain the book in the tower, the one that says "a record of all of Mickeys' dealings before he was king".

This seems possible. It could also explain why Mickey changed his clothes to red - He doesn't want to be compared to MX.
