Ever wonder what happens if a keychain is taken off the keyblade? I just thought about it and related it back to Terra's keyblade, and MX's....can keychains be detachable? Well yes because Sora can change them...blah....i'm thinking too much >.<

I think at least in Sora's case, a keychain has to remain for the keyblade to remained powered.

^but then what about Terra? a close look at his keyblade reveals you cant even attach a keychain to it....

A different type of keyblade, I would guess. Maybe a replica, or a mass-produced copy.

^None of the keyblades at the Gathering Place had keychains either, but some looked similar to keyblades sora can weild....what do u say to that?

Well, they aren't being used by anybody there, so... maybe they... don't have owners, and so... aren't connected to anyone's hearts?

Maybe that's it: Sora's keyblade is connected to the power of his heart, and this connection is represented by the keychain; VAT's keyblades, by contrast, are not connected to the power of their hearts.

Keyblades choose their masters based on the heart right? and in Another Report they said there could be other ways....well what other ways?

their keyblades aren't connected by the strength of their hearts but by some other means. Like UrbanQ said, their mass copies so they're able to wield it with no real connection. It could just be data in which only they can access, process, and wield by themselves

Sora gets them from friends like Tarzan, Tifa, Kairi and Hercules..

But he also gets from enemies...

It is made just for fun. Keyblade modding MIGHT have some plot-importance, but the truth is that they were made for gameplay..

Maybe VAT can wield keyblades without key chains because of their armor? Like, maybe its required in order to use them. Their designs makes them seem like they go hand in hand.

Okay, after watching the 'Terra's Keyblade Animation' video, I definitely think that their keyblades and armor are connected somehow.

Maybe after taking off the keychain, the keyblade change its form...?
