Up until earlier this year, I had very very long hair (past my waist), that was also very thick, fine, and extremely curly. Back then, since it was longer and could weigh all the curls down, it was very easy to deal with my hair, and I did not mind the curls so much.
Sometime this past May, however, I got my hair cut in a kind of asymmetrical bob, which looked very nice when my hair is straitened (I had straitened my hair the day I had gotten it cut, and since the woman dry-cut it, it didn't look bad), but the thing is, now that my hair has grown out some (the back is to the middle of my neck), none of my hair matches up to the same length: it's layered, so some parts are short, the others are long - like I said, it looked nice when it was straitened.
Winter does not seem to be coming here in Virginia, and since it's been so stormy, it's extremely humid and almost 33C. The air conditioner in my house is shot to hell, so all the windows are wide open, making it as hot and humid in the house as outside.
Humidity is the bane of my existence.
My hair is really thick, so it takes forever to air dry, and due to the way my hair is cut, if one part is fluffed up, it'll push all the parts near it up, eventually making this strange fluffy halo around my head, which I cannot stand. Now, I've been trying to straiten my hair after I wash it, which normally works nice, as long as I blow dry it - the thing is, due to my hair texture, it's too fine to continually blow dry it, because it'll break really easily; I can't just blow dry it and wear it as is, because it sucks all the moisture from my hair and it looks like my budgies have been nesting in it - therefore, I straiten it. Thing is, humidity in general makes my hair curl up instantly, so it's like, the second I straiten one section, the next second it'll look like I did nothing to it. Virginia Beach is expecting a storm within the next 72 hours, so it's about 100% humidity outside, making my problems about 100 times worse.
It's too short to pull back, so I can't flatten it, and of course straitening is out of the question. I've no clue whatsoever what I can do with this, so I'm asking anyone here who has any advice at all: how do you wear curly hair?

How 'bout you take a curling iron and straighten it? It might look like a helmet, but it'll still be better than what you've described.

( tell me if im wrong ), that means you cant use the straightening comb ( or doesnt it? I know nothing about european hair ). My suggestion, if you're looking for a style, is it long enough to pull the front up and leave the back down without looking completely horrible? Or try using some like clips and ribbons or other decorative stuff.

I can't remember what its proper name is, but it protects your hair from heat. It's designed especially for use while you're blow drying or straightening your hair.
Or that Frizz-ease stuff. My friend swears by it.

By the way, iloveyou502, I'm technically only a fourth white, being Libyan, Italian, and Native American, so the texture is really strange at times... when it's not so humid out, I can straiten it with one of those straitening irons very easily, and it'll stay straitened until the next time I wash it or whatnot; however, since it does react so much with water and the humid air, all I'm doing when I straiten it now is splitting my ends by going over the same lock of hair how ever many times, to no avail whatsoever.
Anyways, thanks again.

I myself have straight hair, though.
