I am not a n00b but my number of post makes me look like one my nuber of posts dropped to zero after the glitch, and if I post somthing stupid I get called a n00b so I came up with this debate.

Anyone who asks dumb questions, posts dumb posts and flames/gets angry for no reason, is a n00b. Also, tipin liek diz is another trademark of a traditional n00b. All who meet these requirements will be dealt with swiftly, these are the rules and moral standards of the n00b-hunters.
In addition, anyone who acts like a good member, doesn't ask stupid questions etc. is allowed to flame the traditional n00b, post-count alone doesn't decide whether someone is a n00b or not.

You can have all the post counts in the world, and have been here longer than anyone and still be a n00b (though they probably would have already been banned by now). A N00b is an annoying little spammer who starts topics like this (j/k :D) constantly annoys others, breaks the rules and just generally pisses people off with thier ignorence adn stupidity. Post counts don't define you as a n00b. Someones whos 'new' is different. A 'new' person asks intellegent questions and acctually learns form thier mistakes and telling offs. The soul purpose of a n00b(if they ahve any real purpose at all) is to irritate other members. I wouldnt define you as a n00b unless I saw you doing something n00bish. You can call anyone a n00b, regardless of how old your membership is.

n00b is a low name on a forum. Anyone who asks dumb questions, posts dumb posts and flames/gets angry for no reason, is a n00b.
^ Wielder, this is the main reason I call people n00bs *looks at n00b/hate list*

But yes, I say flame the n00bs, flame the hell out of them. They deserve it.

^ Wielder, this is the main reason I call people n00bs *looks at n00b/hate list* | yeah last time I looked at it I thought I was on it.but it was someone with a close user name. But it matters. If you call someone a n00b because they did something once or twice no thats not right. But if you call someone a n00b for doing it repeatdely then yes that would be fine becauser they deserve it.

I got called a n00b by someone in the vBchat the other day...O_o Why? Don't know anymore, she just started hating everyone and cheating. And I'm not a n00b.
Also, n00bs are often much ruder than a new person or anyone else. True, anyone can be a n00b, but not everyone is a n00b. Personally, just cause you dislike them doesn't mean they're a n00b.

They constantly go off not knowing how bad and potentially dangerous their stupidity is. They have the right to be flamed and told off. And those who don't learn their and change their ways also have the right to be banned.
A newb is a new poster who doesnt know what is going on and actually LEARNS from their mistakes.

newbie/newb: a new person to the forums. quite possibly asks intelligent questions and commonly learns from their mistakes. not a bad person, can be part of good discussion. They are not to be made fun of or discriminated.
n00b: a new person to the forums. Spams all the time, and has a very high tendency to be annoying. Commonly flamed and everybody hates them. They do not deserve to be part of intelligent discussion. Usually banned in their first couple of days. Very oftenly gets mad. Not a good person.
in Conclusion, n00bs suck and deserve to be discriminated and flamed to death. Everybody hates n00bs. They should be discriminated, end of story
newbies are good people. They dont deserve to be flamed to death or discriminated. Good people.

Registered: May 2005 Location: a world that never was Posts: 954 | Re: n00b!!! -n00b is an idiotic word that has unfortunately become one of the most widely-used and accepted derogatory terms on forums everywhere. It was most likely originally used as a discrimination tool against those people new to forums (hence the sound resembling the beginning part of the word "newbie"). While people have slowly become slightly more just in their use of it, reserving the term for those new posters who come across as idiotic or annoying, it still is a pathetically weak and vague insult to use. As seen from the numerous posts above on the matter, n00b can be used to describe a great variety of things that someone finds annoying- bad typing, bad grammar, stating widely-known facts as if they were big news- anything! If you want to insult a person, do it right people. The English language is famed for its veritable wealth of derogatory names and terms, surely we can come up with something better than n00b.
I only have two other problems with the term n00b. First is the confusion caused for new people in regards to the difference between n00b and newbie. While this might seem ridiculous, it does confuse some people. And why bother even keeping a term that really was designed for newcomers? I've met plenty of idiots on various forums with post numbers out the wazoo (that's a fun phrase to use).
The other problem is the spelling- or lack thereof. n00b. I still hold on to the hope that this was originally designed as yet another jab on the spelling disabilities of those we use the term on, but there are some people using the word that I'm pretty sure have no idea of the irony originally intended.
So, in conclusion, the use of the term n00b as an insult is grossly overrated. There are so many more accurate and effective ways to make those we dislike feel rejected and hated. Use your imagination people.
