Lightnings hair is the color of Cherry Blossoms which in Japanese literature, traditionally symbolizes beauty and death. Her summon Odin is the norse god of war and death, but also the god of poetry and wisdom which is fitting to a representation to herself. Her actual given name Eclair (which is also the name of a Pastry) is french for Lightning.

It's nice to know how deep they went with Lightning

Also (pun intended) Lightning comes from Clouds "Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

seeing as Lightning is supposed to be the female representation of Cloud
