I found some news about FFXIII-2 and they are really good news.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Releases In North America And Europe “Next Winter”

Final Fantasy XIII-2 was just announced by Square Enix at their 1st Production Department conference at Roppongi Hills, Japan. Japanese gamers will get to play the sequel to Final Fantasy XIII sometime this year.

Meanwhile, Square Enix Europe and USA shot out a press release of their own, mentioning that Westerners get Final Fantasy XIII “next winter,” which sounds like it could be a year from now.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is slated for release this year in Japan.

They also say that the game will “exceed” Final Fantasy XIII in every way and feature an “evolved” battle system, but don’t go into specifics.

Motomu Toriyama, the director of both Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2, stated that the game will feature a dramatic story involving lead character Lightning’s rival. The game’s tagline is why “does mankind defy its fate?”

I'm still calling this a rush-fest - after the mixed reception of XIII - though.

Good question but we don't know yet when Japan will have the game apart from the 2011 release window.

Well Japan got the original in Dec time [and the rest of the world in March]. I don't see why it couldn't happen again [or even earlier - as they have a game build / world to work off now, presumably].

Err. Next Winter to the Japanese could be December 2011 - Febuary 2012. Otherwise, they would've said 'next year'.

How is it a rush fest? The reason FF13 took so long is because they had to build and engine for it and make a game from scratch not to mention they were working with new technology. In this case they already have and experienced team an already finished engine and the data to use it on. I'm assuming they started work on FF13-2 sometime after FF13 was released in Japan.

Probably earlier cause they said next winter for USA and Europe, not Japan...so they will probably(i don't know just guessing here) get it around September.

You do realize that for the 1st 3 yers of XIII'S production, they did almost nothing but make the engine, & bullshit around! :p
