    Translation of the Assist System:
    + Relying on supporters to “Assist” gives you an advantage in battle!
    + Fill up your assist gauge with brave attacks to summon an assist character!
    + Use the L+O buttons to do an assist brave attack, or L + [] for an assist HP attack!
    + If you fill 1 memory in the gauge: Use the L+O buttons for an assist brave attack!
    + If you fill 2 memories in the gauge: Use the L+[] buttons for an assist HP attack!
    + In this edition, each character has a set assist character!
    + One point of advice: The assist character will perform different attacks if your opponents are on the ground or in the air. You can carry out original combos by doing things like connecting assists to the player’s attacks!
    The new Assist System will change everything!
    We’ve already looked at the new Assist System before, but now we are going to look at how you can use it. The basic way to use it is after you’ve smashed your opponent into a wall and want to do an extra attack. Attack -> Assist Brave Attack -> Then the player character does an HP attack. If you use Assist while your opponent is releasing a multi-hit attack, the Assist character will act as a sacrifice while you escape. If you’ve pressed L + Circle using one Assist Gauge they’ll take the force of the attack, if you press L + Square using two, you’ll use guard and be able to run away to safety. But if you’ve used the Assist to escape, a key mark will appear and you won’t be able to use Assist for awhile. In the demo you couldn’t change the Assist character, but normally you would be able to choose whoever you liked. Any of the controllable characters. It seems there will be a lot more rules that go along with the Assist System in the actual game. The new Assist System makes the battles go even faster, and will make things even more fun.

    you fill the assist gauge with brave points once full you can summon an ff to assist you. each FF has his own set.

    use L and O to execute an assist brave attack

    if you fill it up twice you can do an assist HP attack by using L and Square.

    Sorry for not seeing the finalfantasy.net post. I skimmed that and must of missed it.
    Sounds interesting though. Finally another way to break out of combos. I always found it annoying that once you were attacked there was nothing you could do.

    Well I think the Assist HP attack will be a more interesting thing. Hopefully it's more of a fusion move, as opposed to just one HP move after another.

    it would be even more challenging if the computer knows how to use assist

    Yes, please! That would make combat so much more dynamic.

    That was later proven to be limited to the demo. I'm doubtful for pairing-specific joint attacks.

    I just remember seeing someone pop out of nowhere in one of them, and then jumping back off screen
