Someone on Neogaf said that Square-Enix already finished the voice acting for the localization. I'll find the link again and post it. The user who said this has a high standing at Neogaf.

I didn't believe Neogaf stuff a few years ago because it ended up being false much of the time, but as of recent the credible rumormongers are very credible. I'll bite and say yeah, they're probably right.

It's not definitely, it's DEFINITE. They're currently translating the game, it just has so much text it's taking this long. Other than that, I asked the question out of curiosity, trying to see how much time it's been.

Also, for the record, I don't really see why SE couldn't already have this game translated and just be waiting. I mean, my friend who translated all the l'Cie files did it in two days and that's only because I had to send them to her ten at a time on email. SE has a lot more than one translator, and easily could've translated everything in a year. TBH, my estimate for the fan translation is a little less than a year (at the absolute longest) with only two or three translators.

They've been pretty busy with other work though. Type-0 isn't really their main priority at the moment, I'd guess.

I would hope that SENA are also dubbing the game and that's what's taking so long. But since we haven't heard anything about it, it's hard to tell.

It was both. The game is text heavy so some things did require a bit of guess work. I didn't even touch the SP missions. Overall i had a great time playing and I pick it up to play every few days when I'm bored.
