-Anwser to 1-1.) Tidus: Good protagonist, or bitchy little frick?
2.) Opinions on Tidus/Yuna relationship?
3.) Comparisons to other lead roles in the series?
He's in the middle. I don't like him because of his voice actor, it sounds so WHINY, and the fact that he was very complainy at he first half of the game. But I do like him, because, yes, he's like a real person. (Yet in the game, he's a "dream") I have my reasons but am too lazy to write them down. XD
-Anwser to 2-
He cares a lot about her. He doesn't care if he expresses it in public, that just shows he cares more about her, not about the people who may or not be watching.
-Anwser to 3-
Haven't played other games.
What do you all think of the X-2(full) ending? Was it a nice addition to the whole story of FFX or should he have stayed "dead"?

as much as i loved ffx-2 i thought the perfect ending was stupid and it ruins the impact of its predecessor's ending
then again the story isn't exactly x-2's strong point so...
oh my god *throws up*
i'm done drinking four times a week haha but probably not though

1. I think Tidus is a pretty good protagonist. Eh blitzes balls and doesn't afraid of anything. He's the perfect character who knows nothing just like the player, and so explanations about everything they come across help the game to develop Spira really well. Compared to the previous three protagonists who more or less were rather worldly to begin with, this is a pretty interesting and welcomed changed.
He's childish at first with massive daddy issues. I still don't like the way that they handled the whole Jecht thing in terms of Tidus' emotions, and that dreadful line before going off to fight Sin "I'm comin' for ya.... DAD!" irks me a lot every time I play it. Also the laughing scene. Did I mention the laughing scene? I guess that's a strike against the voice actor than his actual character though because the scene in its essence was actually a pretty nice one. Execution however...
I agree with what Sham says about Tidus' growth being believable and rather massive. He turns slowly from a kid dumped in a strange world and rebelling against everything he sees that he disagrees with into a much more rational person who thinks things through and comes to terms with some rather large revelations without complaining about it whatsoever. It was a return to the more unspoken leadership role that I feel Cloud was the last protagonist before him possessed. You know, the guy who just ends up being the natural choice for leading instead of immediately stepping into the role and taking charge like Squall did and I feel to a lesser extent Zidane as well. I think there are more reasons to like Tidus than to hate him and his character is very well developed.
2. Tidus and Yuna was the first couple that I actually really believe and like from the playstation generation onwards. It was forced, but not nearly as much as Squall/Rinoa and instead gradually grows. I'm a bit disappointed that they put an affection system into the game but it had no outcome on the relationship that Tidus pursues. That being said, Tidus and Yuna is actually a rather sweet couple and you know that the writers did a great job of developing them because the last scene, like nearly everyone said before me, is absolutely gut wrenching.

idc what dissidia says it is "tai-dis" like "tie dis shoe for me" not teedus because well i know how to pronounce things better than squareenix

Anyone else notice that in KH1 Wakka says "teedus" and in KH2 Selphie says "Taidus"? Sending us mixed signals, SE...
I played x-2 because I wanted to see him get a happy ending. I cried so so so hard at the end of x, and every time I hear the ending credit music or watch amvs even now I start to tear up.
Yes, I love that it makes me cry... and I think the ending of X is perfect and horrible at the same time... but I'm glad I have my x-2 to make me feel better if I have to <3
Idk, I cry a lot and have daddy issues just like Tidus, and I love how he reacts realistically BUT has the guts to stay positive and cheerful as well.
Yuna is moon in some Japanese island dialect, Tida is sun. But I always pronounced it Tidus, cause like, 'tide' and water and stuff. Eh
i really like Tidus. He's a well-developed character, a lot of depth, and he's fallable yet still likable. It'd be boring if he were perfect, and if he's a little whiny, it's because he was a spoiled brat in zanarkand before he was dropped off into Spira with no sense of what was happening to him. so he's a little immature, but we've seen the reasons for that.
I felt the Tidus-Yuna relationship was really well played out. it was more believable than a lot of the other FF relationships up this game, and the end scene was a real tear-jerker. One thing that really brings this out is the fact that there are actually voice dubbings for this game, whereas the previous games lacked voice dubbing, and the emotion that you get from the voice actors really made their relationship more believable.
As for how he compares to other main characters... well, it was kind of a huge reversal, wasn't it? cloud and squall were more reserved and mature by lightyears, and the setting was different from the earlier games, so Tidus is a much different character anyway. I feel like overall, he was more human, more relatable as a character, and that really added to the game as a whole.
For me tidus was the best final fantasy protagonist. Alot of people said he was whiny. But if you look at it. He was a star blitzball player living the life and getting laid ( Kay maybe not that part ). He gets thrown into a totally new world and thrown out of hia comfort zone. FFX is my favourite one in terms of characters and story, despite what alot of people say. Like some people here said, I love how we discover the world along with him.
The part I liked about his character development was how he turned from a helpless n00b in the party, to someone who led them all into battle in the end. He was the one who was dead set on saving his love despite everyone losing hope. That is a big step.
And finally, I have to add that the tidus yuna romance is the greatest in the series. It's something that looks so pure. The act if him snatching her away from death's doors and offering himself in her place.
Btw, I always have and always will pernounce it as tie-dus. Tee-dus sounds extremely WTF.
WoL: Well Hello there Tide-us
Tidus: It's Tidus!(Tee-dus)
WoL: Very well then Tide-us.
Tidus: I said Tidus!
WoL: As you wish, good sir Tide-us.
Tidus: *tears* STOP CALLING ME TIDE-US, MY NAME IS TIDUS!
WoL: My sincere apologies, young Tide-us.
Tidus: That's it! Tell me your name, let's see how you feel when I keep mispronouncing it!
WoL: Very well then, I am a Warrior of Light.
Tidus: I know, but tell me your name, I want you to see how it feels when people just keep saying it wrong!
WoL: I AM a Warrior of Light.
Tidus: I KNOW THAT! Yes, you're a Warrior of Light, but tell me your NAME!
WoL: I am a WARRIOR of Light.
Tidus: I know you're a Warrior of Light! STOP SAYING THAT *tears*! Tell me your name so I can say it wrong!
WoL: I am a Warrior....of LIGHT!
