I hope there will be some Versus XIII news after Lightning's DLC.
If XIII-3 is announced, then I think we can assume that they've given up on actually continuing the overall FF series. Seems ironic since a 3rd game would continue the story, but if they're just gonna milk XIII without even conceiving a Final Fantasy XV game with a new premise and plot, I think it's an indicator of the series' death as soon as it stops being profitable.

So having a trilogy to a game series is what is considered milking? if that was the case, every trilogy is considered milking a franchise. 13 is a considered a big number around the world and the Fabula Nova Crystallis series was first announced as 3 games. They will probably have XV coming out as well when XIII-3 comes out.
It's probably going to be
Versus XIII and XIV 2.0, then XIII-3 and XV
This is probably the best captive princess story I have ever watched (start at 0:22 and to the end)

To me, it seems like Square Enix has completely lost sight of what to do with FF. Hopefully, Versus 13 is the one that pulls through.
Well, 13 is a significant number in the world. You don't wind up making a direct sequel to any ordinary game in the FF series. The only reason that 10 got a direct sequel was because it was to please the TitusxYuna fans and 10 was the last game the original creator was in on. The company had also announced that before FFXIII had come out that they were doing a trilogy to catch up on the lack of PS3 games Square had not gotten to yet.

I don't really think it's milking, I mean what they're doing is what I think a lot of fans want. And that is filler games until actual numbered titles get release. I don't think it's really bad. I mean with every new game and new console, it's take longer and longer to develop a game from scratch. I see these sequels as just fillers while they're working on the bigger titles. Or else we'd be seeing games once every 5-6 years! Then we'd be complaining that there's not enough games!
I wanted to know how much is riding on this game being sucesful. It was announced in 2006 and has been in production for 6 year still going. This game must have some huge expectation from both square and fans to be some major revolution of a game.
I was just wondering it would be shame if this game actuly didnt end up being worth all the time they put into it. it would just be the reason why most of us will be able to legally drink before we play KH3
Can't wait for this album

Filler in general is bad. Filler in food is unhealthy. Filler in anime is unbearable.
And you want filler Final Fantasy games? Pffffft.
Take a look at Mario honey. Main Mario games come out at the launch of a new system which is about 5-6 years. Sure, plenty of side Mario games come and go but hey, I don't hear anyone complaining about main Mario games taking too long to develop or not being enough of them. Final Fantasy is no different. We have side games to tide us over until the next main release.
It's about quality sweety. In a series where every installment is a fresh take on on the Final Fantasy brand, sequels are all but moot. Yeah sure, it'd be nice to get sequels to some of the greats, but not every game needs a sequel. Take a look at movies for example. I LOVED Inception. Kick ass movie. Can't get enough of it. Would I like a sequel? Yes. Do I think it deserves a sequel? No. Why? Because it'd be hard to top.
If you need further convincing, look at Final Fantasy VII. You've got Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, Before Crisis, AND Advent Children. I loved Crisis Core, but hell it doesn't compare to the original FF VII. The last thing we need is to support anything "filler".
FF XIV Version 2.0 is not a filler or a sequel. It is just the same game with a ton of patches to fix it up and make it better. It is not being treated as a second game and if you already have it on PC, you do not need to buy anything new. It's just an update to install.
