Question Rep Question, Possible Glitch
It's not that the rep isn't working, but why do we have the option to rep ourselves? Is this just some sort of glitch, or are you allowed to do so?

It's a part of the system that cannot be changed, even if you do press the add reputation button it has no effect. The only thing that it does is show you how many points you have.

it doesn't work like that.

it just shows the rep you've gotten for that post.
