Hellz yeah! Best handheld game I ever got.
The worst thing about it is that the soundtrack (which is of good quality and of varying styles for a handheld game) can become a little repetitive. That in itself isn't really bad.
It's happened once, so lets not let this Fan Fic fill up with TWEWY spam.

Woah. 1000 to the power of seven = 1 000 000 000 000 000 000 000. That's alot of awesome

even if there is, i probably wouldnt use it personally. i like hearing my reader's opinions and advice, and i dont mind too much if a little side conversation happens on the way (as long as it doesnt get out of hand).

but i digress, another story to ocupy the time of all who desire to read this. let's continue with the Key to Kingdom Hearts, and see what conspiracy theories we can weave into our tale...

Fragmented Tale the 20th
The Wise and the Apprentices
About 3 months after Fragmented Tale 18

“Wise Ansem, I’m here to seek your advice.”

Truthfully, King Mickey had come to meet this sage for more than his advice. It had been three months since that battle for Kingdom Hearts, but the King still hadn’t forgotten. Yen Sid had kept the Key hidden in his loft while combing the legends for a more preferable hiding place. He had found one, and King Mickey was to take it there.

King Mickey had met the ruler of Radiant Garden, Ansem the Wise, on time before, and they had become fast friends after only moments of discussion on the worlds. Still, Mickey was not entirely happy when he learned that the Key was to be hidden with Ansem; something about Ansem’s foremost apprentice, Xehanort, seemed altogether strange to the king. Was it coincidence the boy shared the same name as Master Xehanort, beaten only 3 months ago? But the age difference was all the King needed to tell that this wasn’t the Xehanort he had fought not so long ago, but the shudders around his presence continued to plague Mickey.

Ansem’s study, a circular room filled with bookcases, a portrait of Xehanort, and several containers containing the results of Ansem’s latest experiment, hearts. Ansem sat at his elliptical desk, a bar of Sea-Salt Ice-cream in one hand, looking at the mouse ruler with his thoughtful and knowledgeable eyes.

“I’m glad we have the opportunity to speak like this, my friend. I’m intrigued by your hypothesis and I’m finding it difficult to stave off the urge to test it. Still, I’m concerned about the stability of the worlds.”

“Yep, that’s what worries me, too,” King Mickey agreed. Though in all honesty, what worried him most was what could happen if the Key to Kingdom Hearts fell into the wrong hands. Master Xehanort had tried once to take this power, and the king knew others would eventually follow. And by giving responsibility of the Key to Ansem, his friend, he was placing the scholar and his entire world in danger. But there was no alternative, Yen Sid had said; only Ansem the Wise could locate a suitable guardian for the Key to the Kingdom.

“The doors that appeared,” Ansem continued, “the place the Heartless seek; I fear my research may have brought this upon us.”

Suddenly, a knock came from Ansem’s door, and a moment later a young, silver-haired man dressed in a lab coat, like Ansem, appeared. This was Xehanort, Ansem’s greatest apprentice, and his presence gave Mickey another involuntary shudder.

The apprentice bowed and spoke, “Master Ansem, regarding the experiment I presented the other day, with your permission, I’d like to proceed.”

But Ansem would not hear of it. Already, their experiment had taken them down turns Ansem did not desire to follow. They had already unleashed the threat called the Heartless upon the worlds, and who knows what other monstrosities they might unleash if they continued further. “I forbid it!” Ansem yelled, “Forget this talk of doors, and the heart of all worlds. That place must not be defiled!”

“But, Master Ansem,” Xehanort replied, “I’ve been thinking…”

Ansem’s shaking head silenced the apprentice. “Xehanort,” Ansem addressed, “those thoughts are best forgotten.”

Xehanort wanted to argue, wanted to explain to his teacher why they simply must proceed. But Xehanort was smart enough to realize such actions would get him nowhere, and he politely bowed once again before leaving, shutting the door behind him.

“Such an intelligent young man,” Ansem sighed, “but sometimes simply too curious.”

Mickey could no longer hide his thoughts, so he decided to speak them to his friend. “More than curiosity, I’m afraid, is driving him to continue this experiment,” Mickey replied, “I think there’s something more.”

Ansem nodded understandingly, “His memories. He was hoping that by making himself a test subject in this experiment he could break through the wall of amnesia that surrounds his mind.”

Mickey shook his head, “that may play some part, but I think it’s something else. Did you look into his eyes when you refused to let him continue?”

“No, why?”

“There was more than curiosity behind those eyes, Ansem. There was anger, hatred, and rage behind them. Behind that calm, polite façade he keeps up, I think you may find a vindictive, power-hungry man who knows nothing of either mercy or compassion. He fakes it well, but the only emotions he feels, I think, are hatred, anger, and similar things.”

Ansem was speechless for a moment, and the King continued, “If you want proof, go to the sealed laboratory where you used to conduct some of those experiments. I think you may find the answer you are looking for.”

And then the king pulled out of his pants pocket the item he had been carrying. It was time to finish his business here and return home. He only wished he didn’t have to place such a burden on top of Ansem’s already troubled shoulders.
------------
Xehanort entered the dark room where the other five apprentices were waiting, and locked the door behind him. After glancing around to make sure only the six of them were in the room, he began.

“Master Ansem refused to let the experiment continue,” Xehanort said, bitter contempt oozing from every word, “He wants me to ‘forget this talk of doors and the heart of all worlds’.”

“But we can’t!” one apprentice, Even, said, “so much research, so much knowledge, will be lost! We can’t stop here!”

“I doubt it’ll be long before he has us completely seal off the lab and burn all notes,” Braig added, “if we want to save this data or even continue it, we’ll need a plan.”

“I agree,” said another apprentice, Ienzo, “Perhaps we should… retire our master.”

“No,” Xehanort said simply, “Ansem is popular with the populace, and such a deception will not be easy. When Ansem vanishes, it won’t be long before the people learn what happens, and we’ll be forced to leave Radiant Garden.”

“Then what do you suggest?” Ienzo said, hurt. He was fond of conspiracy theories, and hoped to lead the public astray with a king’s ransom of such schemes.

“We should simply continue our experiment,” Xehanort said, “without permission and with the utmost secrecy. Only when Ansem learns of what we are doing, or when we no longer need the facilities of the castle, will we ‘retire’ our dear master.”

Ienzo and the other apprentices had to agree with the logic their unofficial leader presented them.

“So we carry out a top-secret project,” Braig commented, never able to avoid a jibe, “without permission, stealing lives for test subjects, and exploring an unknown force of evil. That sums it up, right?”

Xehanort did not laugh at the joke. Then again, he had never laughed once in his life.
-------------------------------------
“I see,” Ansem commented, after Mickey finished his story, “So this device is the Key to the heart of all worlds, the heart of all men, and the heart of everything in this universe. In short, the pathway to Kingdom Hearts.”

Mickey nodded, “And my teacher, Yen Sid, thought you might be able to hide it where dark forces cannot find it.”

Ansem took it in with a solemn face. If what Mickey said about Xehanort proved true, then it may be that the Key was not safe with him. If what the king said was true, if Xehanort discovered its secret…

Ansem shook his head and glanced down at a picture frame lying on his desk. On it was his family, consisting of himself; his late grandfather who shared his name; his mother Marble; his late wife Liesel, who had died of an illness at a young age; his older brother Artemis , who had also died of an illness not long after Ansem was born; his younger sister Xelha; her husband Drizzt; and…

Suddenly, Ansem had the answer. He knew where to hide the Key to Kingdom Hearts, a place Xehanort or anyone else would never think of looking.

Darn you Merlin! Darn You! You and I keep having similar ideas, your'e just the one to write them up first! Rrrrrggh! *Pulls hair out*

Okay, I'm calm now.

So, the family names, are the completely made up? Or are they meant to be rearranged to mean something?

MetaKingdom, right?
(Not the family names)

each name is from a different media source (movie, videogame, book, etc.).

Marble: Tales of Symphonia (good game, replaying it now)
Liesel: The Book Thief (quite a good book)
Artemis: Artemis Fowl (lovely series)
Xelha: Baten Kaitos (nice game with a good story)
Drizzt: Various books by R.A. Salvatore, including The Dark Elf Trilogy (love these books)
and the final member... is up for speculation.

also, the idea for The Key To Kingdom Hearts (also known as the Key to the Kingdom), originated from The Keys to the Kingdom series (note the similarities in names).

EDIT: as for metakingdom... what is that?

with all due respect,
Merlin326

Well...I can't directly reveal what it is because it's the finale (Merlin would undrestand), and to avoid others taking the idea.
Here's a hint: What does it generally mean when an object or name is prefixed with the term 'Meta'? If you have the answer or understand what I'm talking about, please PM me.

And good job with the other apprentices. Even though they spoke few words, I think you did a very good job of relaying their attitude.

Um...Kay?
You mean my proposal has something to do with change?

EDIT: Yay! Post 555. A Triple number AND a Palindrome.
And as for Merlin proposing to me his preference of Fan Fictions. I have checked out a small part of Circue du Mort, but I found it hard to pick up on, and a lot of it has been writtern already, so there's a fair bit to catch up on. At least when I discovered Destati we were nearing the end of Part 3.

I did manage to get through some of KingGrabrielXVI's 'Without the Heartless...Again!' and found it mildly entertaining (in terms of comedy and not much else). He did pretty well with it, considireng he was doing Kingdom Hearts without the Heartless, or Nobody, or Keyblades, or even Kingdom Hearts! And that's pretty hard to do if you don't have some kind of other hook, but King Gabriel did it with teen angst and a bit of comedy.

Some advice to people seeking it: MetaKingdom is, in itself and without a given context, incredibly vague, so you may have your own take on it that is completely different from mine.

Great new addition, Merlin. For the first 5 seconds after reading Drizzt, I though it was a play off of Dirst, but then I got and hit myself with frying pan out of stupidity.

And, for those who don't know, 1000 to the seventh power is said truncated to the word 'zetta'. Thus it fits in with my previous post...

Oh, and 'meta' comes from the latin 'medius' for 'middle'... At least, thats the word that I think that the aforementioned prefix is derived from.
