Who knows maybe there's a little sanity left in Aloz. Also Merlin I watch a lot of anime and I think I know what you're planning for Kingdom Hearts.

I'm glad you chose Dragon Heart for your next world, I don't know if disney made it but I like it.

Not exactly a Twilight Zone novel, more of a sequel, but at the same time not a sequal. you could say Destati is the end, but thats only half true.

Kingdom Hearts: Destati is reaching the climax; that, of course, means the end is near. but the end is not nessessarily (sp?) the end; there is no true ending. the ending of one story may also be the begining of another, and vice versa. one story often requires knowledge of another in order to understand everything. indeed, there is no beginging and ending, there is simply the story.

indeed, all stories begin in darkness, with the eyes losed, and they end the same way. of course, teh end of ones story does not nessessarily mean the end of one's life, and vice versa once again. but this story, i can tell, is only a part of another story. the whole story, the one that cant ever be told completely.

Kingdom Hearts: Destati may well be the ending of our story. or it may be the beginning. or it may be both. or neither. or both both and neither (i hope these last three paragraphs made sense to you, because i cant make heads or tails of what i just said, lol).

on to the main event. i wanted a chapter up two days ago, but complications arouse. i was meeting with a ... client, to discuss important matters. after plotting the overthrow of the free world, we began discussing [censored by USA government]. long story short, we were forced to escape from a locked Itallian resturant slowly filling up with water, were chased for three miles by an angry mob with pitchforks, and i had to swordfight a TV repairman. after hacking into a top secret computer with the help of Artimis Fowl, i stole back my stolen data and deported myself (to Pitsburgh), so i could sneak back home and type up this report in my secret underground facility.

Chapter 4
Morals and memories

The alternative was for the dragon to stage an attack on the town and for Bowen to swoop in and, after claiming the gold, pretend to shoot the dragon with an arrow from a ballista. The dragon would grab the missile with his claw and pretend to be stabbed and fall into the nearby river, out of sight. Hidden by the deep waters, he would swim away to regroup with Bowen at a later time. Bowen would ride off with the gold and meet up with the dragon. And after some time, the process would repeat itself. Sora and his friends, however, did not agree to this idea, however.

Bowen counted his gold from the latest run, and laughed, “Most profitable, Dragon. I should have met you a long time ago.”

“There is much gold in the world,” the dragon said, flying overhead, “perhaps when you’ve had your fill of it, you’ll no longer need me.”

“I am a Knight of the Old Code. My word is my bond,” Bowen said.

“No compunctions then?” Sora asked bitterly. He respected Bowen’s power in battle, but he did not agree to take the gold from the villagers.

“About what?”

“Well, such deception hardly befits a Knight of the Old Code,” the dragon answered.

Bowen merely laughed again, “Fleecing Einon’s lackeys. That’s a service to mankind.”

“Is it?” Sora asked, “When you squeeze the nobility, it’s the peasants who feel the pinch.”

“That’s not my concern,” Bowen said, “Why should I stick my neck out for people afraid to risk their own? Don’t clutter up a clever scheme with morality.”

“Mmm, so be it, Knight of the Old Code,” the dragon said, then flew farther ahead.

“If I wanted my conscience pricked, I would have stayed with the priest!” Bowen yelled. In the excitement, they had left Gilbert where he slept. By now he probably though they were all dead.
“And what does a dragon know of the Old Code, anyway?” Bowen added.

“His blade defends the helpless,” the dragon recited from memory as he landed and began to walk beside them, “His might upholds the weak. His word speaks only truth.”

That was the majority of the Old Code in a nutshell, which annoyed Bowen, “Shut up! I remember. That’s all it is, a memory. Nothing can bring it back.”

“You sound like one who tried,” Kairi said softly.

“And failed,” Bowen added, “So I no longer try to change the world; I just try to get by in it.”

“Yes, it’s better than death, I suppose,” the dragon muttered, more to himself than anyone else.

“Oh, is it? I should think you’d welcome death,” Bowen said, “You know, the last of your kind, all your friends dead, hunted wherever you go.”

The dragon stopped, and then said, “Do you delight in reminding me? Yes, Knight, I do long for death. But fear it.”

“Why?” Sora asked.

Something about this remark struck Bowen, too, and he asked, “Aside from your misery, what’s to lose?”

“My soul,” the dragon answered sadly. No one spoke another word until they made camp.
--------
Back at the castle, the advisor that had suggested the road tax spoke aloud to himself, “Before long, I will have the quintessence of a dragon, and become even stronger than ever.”

“So that’s what you want,” a voice said, and the advisor turned to see a masked figure standing nearby. Spoiler.

“Who are you?” the advisor demanded in fear, “what do you want.”

“Spare me the charade, Aloz,” Spoiler said, “You came to this world for the quintessence of the last dragon, huh?”

The look of fear on the advisor’s face turned to a sinister smile as he changed form, in the creature we all know (and loath) as Aloz the Dark.

“You saw right through me,” Aloz said menacingly.

“Correct. It’s difficult to miss your stench, Morph.”

“And you plan to go tell Sora and his friends of my plan, do you?”

“And if I say yes?”

“It matter not either way. I’m going to kill you no matter what!”

Aloz then summoned his sword, but Spoiler was gone before battle could start. Aloz was not worried, however. He didn’t care if the dragon’s Quintessence was his or not, all that mattered at this stage of the game was the acquisition of the Key to the Kingdom.
------------
“Is that so?” Einon asked Aloz. He was unaware that the being had infiltrated his court, he merely thought him an assistant in controlling the Heartless. He had shown up a few weeks ago, and already Einon’s control over the Heartless in his kingdom had grown ever stronger.

“Indeed,” Aloz said, “three visitors from another world have arrived, and they seek to overthrow your rule. They wield powerful weapons known as Keyblades, making them formidable foes.”

“Aloz, they cannot possibly harm me,” Einon said, “They could never infiltrate my castle.”

As if to prove him wrong, a young woman suddenly jumped from the window, dagger in hand. Aloz quickly grabbed her arm and flung her onto a nearby table while simultaneously pulling the dagger out of her hand and handing it to Einon.

“You may decide her fate,” he said.

Einon smiled and put the dagger to her throat.

“In your kingdom, Einon,” the woman said, whose name was Kara, daughter of the leader of the rebellion 12 years ago, “there are worse fates than death.”

From a nearby doorway, her presence unknown to them, Queen Aislinn watched, struck by the woman’s words. For these many years, she had been filled with sorrow for what was happening to the peasants, for she had condemned them to it herself.

“I’ll think one up for you,” Einon said, then called for some Heartless soldiers to take her to the dungeon. As she left, she continued to scream the same thing, over and over, “He killed my father!”
------------------
Hours later, King Einon came down and stepped before Kara, just out of reach due to the chains.

“I remember you now,” Einon said, “I remember you. Your hair, like fire.”

He then pulled his tunic open so that she could see the scar where he had been pierced 12 years ago.

“You gave me this scar, didn’t you?”

Indeed, it had been her. She had been the peasant that fell out a window, accidentally bumping into Einon and forcing him onto a pike.

“I owe you.”
------------
They had made camp on top of a cliff, with a breathtaking view of the forest below. Bowen was attempting to light a fire by striking a rock against the flat of his blade, without much success. The dragon came and lay down across from Bowen, right next to Sora. After observing Bowen’s lack of success, the dragon covered his left nostril and exhaled a small stream of fire. Bowen jumped back in shock as their dinner was cooked by dragon fire.

“I hope you like it well done,” the dragon said when he finished.

After a quick dinner, they prepared to sleep. As Bowen sat his stuff down, the dragon could not help but notice his shield, decorated with dragon horns.

“You must have hated us very much,” the dragon said quietly.

“I hated one of you,” Bowen replied, “These I killed because I wanted to kill him. But I never found him. I
never will. If you’re the last, he must be dead.”

“Oh, yes,” the dragon said, “tell me, what was he like, this dragon that you hated?”

“He only had half a heart,” Bowen said, “But even that was enough to pollute an innocent boy.”

“Einon was no innocent!” the dragon yelled, “He polluted the heart!”

Bowen suddenly gave his full attention to the dragon, “How do you know that? How do you know that, Dragon?”

The dragon seemed uncomfortable for a moment, and then said, “All dragons know that story. What was to be their hope became their doom. A spoiled, ungrateful child was given a great gift and destroyed it!”

“No!” Bowen yelled back, “I knew Einon. I was his teacher. I taught him the ways of honor, of right.”

“Then maybe he betrayed you,” Sora said.

“Just as he betrayed the dragon whose heart he broke,” the dragon added.

“That a lie, Dragon!”

“Stop calling me ‘Dragon’!” the dragon shouted, “I have a name.”

“Well, what is it?” Bowen asked.

“You couldn’t possibly pronounce it in your tongue.”

“We need to call you something,” Riku said, “trying to pronounce your name is better than just calling you Dragon.”

“It’s…” the dragon began, but suddenly his left shoulder glowed, and he gripped it in pain and fell on his side, nearly on top of Sora.
---------
In the castle, Einon fell back, his left shoulder bleeding. Kara had managed to pry the dagger from his hands and stab him with it. Einon felt the wound, it was not life threateningly, strangely, and said, “Next time stab more flesh, less cloth.”

“I’ll pierce your heart,” Kara said, trying to reach him despite the chains. Einon ran over and pushed her against the wall, pulling the dagger from her hand.

“You already did, once,” Einon said, and left the dungeon.

so our dragon friend fears death, for some reason. hmm, what could that be? and why did he fall over in pain?

Wow, Merlin's trying to train up some sense of humor. Nice.

So far, the description of the dragon world is simply fantastic. However, do you realised that there is some lack of description about Sora, Riku and Kairi? I would've wanted to hear their story more, not some random heroes.

That's probably the biggest flaw I've discovered in this story yet. You didn't even make Sora and Kairi kiss! Or even hold hands (If they did, sorry, I seriously can't remember), or hug!

By the way, the author of that story in fanfiction.net I gave you? He ended that 110 chapters of pure gold. However, the story continued with a new title, "Kingdom Hearts: Quest For Lost Two"... Or something like that. Darn I only remember that whatsits Quest ? Lost Two, forgetful me...

Why does he fear death? Well... You already explained it lol... This dragon is noble, unlike that Einon suker...

*nods* Along with full out comedy, romantic scenes are my biggest challenge. i've drafted some scenes, but none have satisfied me. it's also a lot harder for me with characters that arent my own (SRK) compared with origional characters (Aloz, Xando, etc.) that i can develop any way i want. we shall see what the future holds...

well, mysterious circumstances (refer to the last few chapters of part III) sure make it look like he died. whether or not that is true will be revealed before the end of Part V. dont worry, though; we'll be hearing some more about him fairly soon.
