Yay! I get it!

So, in other words, The Twilight Zone is it's own dimension/universe separate from all others, yet it can be accessed through certain phenomena that occur throughout all universes.

Hopefully the next part will come quickly. I'm feeling so bored since we've taken up nearly two or so pages of this thread with the discussion between Xuan, Merlin and I. Isn't it good to know you have dedicated fans, Merlin.

well, it is now tomorrow (that didnt really make sense, come to think of it), so a chapter for you. a prelude to teh story of this world...

Chapter 1
Knight of the Old Code

Sora and his friends had arrived at a world where remarkable creatures lived with men. But this world had a history written in blood. And so that you, the reader, may understand what was to happen, we must travel back in time, 12 years prior to modern events. It starts with a prince and a knight. A Knight of the Old Code…

Through old ruins of a castle long gone, two men sparred, one a young prince, learning the ways of the sword, and the other a knight of the Old Code, the mentor of the prince.

“Not bad,” the mentor said, who was known by the name of Bowen, after blocking a particularly eager thrust from his young student. Bowen then parried another blow and spun the young lad around and put the wooden sword to his throat, “but not good enough to live.”

He then pushed the boy away and they began sparring again. They moved here and there, Bowen maneuvering to a rock, “Mind if I sit down? I don’t have your energy.” The comment was merely a jibe, however, as the knight was able to easily block the youth’s attacks while sitting. He parried a few more blows before advising, “Fight with your head,” and then grabbed the boy by his shirt and pulled him up close, “and not your heart.”

Below, a figure rode on horseback up to meet with the two. Bowen jumped up to his feet and continued engaging the young prince. He quickly sidestepped a promising swing, admitting, “Better, Einon.” He then blocked a downward swing, grabbed the boy, and hit him in the side, just below the arm, “but you’re still dead.”

He jumped away and the sparring continued. He forced Einon back while pouring himself a drink of water with one hand. Einon stepped back and charged, but Bowen merely stepped back and stuck out his foot. The end result was a young prince falling face first in the dirt.

“No one ever found victory in the dirt,” Bowen jibed, laughing. But before the two could continue the training, the horseman had reached them. Einon jumped up, eager for the news.

“The peasants are revolting,” he guessed, correctly.

“They’ve always been revolting, Prince,” the messenger laughed, much to Bowen’s annoyance, “Now they’re rebelling. King Frayne wants his son to witness his noble victory.”

“There’s nothing noble about crushing desperate men,” Bowen replied. As a Knight of the Old Code, he was distasteful of King Frayne’s treatment of the people of his kingdom. His hope was to teach the prince the ways of the Old Code, so that he may treat the people better when he was king.

“They’re scum!” the messenger yelled, “The King commands! Bring him!”
Bowen scowled at the messenger, who then added, “You can come, too.” He then flew an insult at the
knight and rode off to join the battle.
------------
Several knights rode off to the village where the peasants were staged, the King in at the head. The peasants had lit a bonfire from a wall of wood, hoping it would keep the soldiers back temporarily. But the horses merely leaped over and began the “battle”; a better word would be massacre. The peasants were mostly armed with sticks and hammers, while the army possessed swords, axes, and spears, as well as the hooves of their horses.

From a distance, Bowen and Einon watched, the youth saying, “I wish we were down there.”

“No you don’t,” Bowen replied with scorn in his voice, but understanding. He considered this remark to come from the youthfulness and want for adventure the boy possessed.

“Yes I do! Just to see you in action, Bowen.” The young prince marveled at the battle prowess the experienced knight possessed, “Yours would be the finest blade on the field.”

The boy did speak a bit of truth there. Bowen was perhaps one of the most experienced knights in the realm, and still in his prime. Bowen then replied, “My blade was not made for your father’s slaughter.”

“He is my father, Bowen,” Einon replied warningly, “and he is the king.”

“Yes, but when you are king, remember today and the difference between battle and butchery. And remember the Old Code. Then you will be a greater king than your father.”

As he watched his father in battle, Einon said, “I promise knight, I will be greater.”

The king rode from battle and to the village itself, grabbing a lit torch on the way, and in an act of sheer wickedness, began to set the village ablaze. However, only two houses were alight before a well planned ambush arrived, overwhelming the king with his sword sheathed.

“He’s trapped!” Einon gasped before charging off to save his father.

“Einon!” Bowen yelled, chasing after the boy. But the boy had too much of a head start, and Bowen could not catch up to him, “No!”

Meanwhile, the peasants managed to pry the sword from the king, and soon the king from his horse. They then began to attack, before the leader stopped them, “Enough, enough! The battle’s out there,” and the reinforcements charged into the massacre. As they left, Einon stepped out from his hiding place and ran to his dying father. The wounds were fatal, and the king lay motionless.

“Father?” Einon said quietly. When no reply came, Einon slowly pulled the king’s crown off his helmet, and gazed at it. He then looked up, hearing the screams of the peasants as they retreated from the battle. From one of the burning buildings, a lone peasant fell from a window and bumped into the prince, pushing him right into a pike that was holding a net of fruit up. The now king Einon cringed as he felt the pike pierce through his flesh, and his heart.

The peasant rolled up and grabbed a wooden pole, expecting a battle. Einon gasped, pulling himself away and turning to the peasant, who lowered the pole. Einon looked up at the peasant, who took off her helmet and revealed her long red hair. Einon grabbed a pole for support as Bowen ran towards him.
------------
Queen Aislinn, now the widow of King Frayne, only looked sad when she heard of her husband’s death. She knew, and did not agree to, the atrocities her husband had committed as king. But to hear that her son was dying was something she could not bear. It was her hope that her son was not at all like the father. She had forced all but herself, her dying son, and Bowen to leave the room.

“Forgive me, my queen,” Bowen muttered when all others had left.

“There’s nothing to forgive,” the queen said with resentment, “his father’s tyranny brought him to this.”

“He’s beyond all help,” Bowen said sadly.

The queen thought for a moment, then said, “Not all.”
------------
“A knight is sworn to valor,” Bowen recited to Einon as he, the queen, and a few guards carried the young king through the forest to a cave in the mountain.

“Knight… valor,” Einon repeated, gasping for breath. It should be noted that, in all this time, he still held on to the crown that had belonged to his father.

“His heart knows only virtue.”

“…virtue…”

“His blade defends the helpless.”

“…blade…”

“His might upholds the weak.”

“…might…”

“You must stay awake, my son,” the queen urged.

“The Code is might,” Bowen said, “His might upholds the weak.”

“His word speaks only… truth…” Einon gasped.

“His wrath undoes the wicked,” they both said at the same time.

They had finally arrived at the cave, where they would supposedly be able to help the dying boy. From somewhere in the cavern, a deep voice could be heard, speaking an ancient tongue. According to the pitch and rhythmic tone, the being seemed to be singing.”

“My lord!” the queen yelled to the shadowy figure, “Great one! Your song is sad!”

“Are the stars shining tonight?” a deep, booming voice asked.

“No,” she replied, “No bright souls glitter in this darkness.”

As the soldiers laid the boy on a rock, footsteps could be heard. Loud footsteps, large footsteps. The queen then commanded all but Bowen to leave them.

“Aislinn, daughter of the Celts,” the voice spoke, recognizing the one who stood before him.

“Whose people loved your kind and called you friend,” she reminded the voice.

“The king’s son,” the voice noted, “Cruel, and full of trickery. Is this why you’ve come, Dragonslayer’s wife?”

“Dragonslayer’s widow,” the queen corrected, “This boy is not his father,” then gesturing to Bowen, “This knight here is his mentor. He has taught him the Old Code. I need your help.”

She then removed the bandages that covered the wound. It was a small, circular hole, piercing right through the heart. It was a miracle he had lived this long.

“The wound is deep,” the voice observed, “You know what you ask.”

“I will teach him your ways,” the queen begged, “He’ll grow in your grace. He will grow just and good. I swear…”

“No!” the voice interrupted, “The boy must swear. Give me your sword, knight.”
Bowen hesitated for a moment, but unsheathed his sword and gave it to the noble dragon, who took it in his great claw.

“Don’t be afraid,” Queen Aislinn said to her son, “he can save you.”

“Now you listen to me, boy,” the dragon said, “swear that your father’s bloodlust and tyranny died with him. Swear that you will live and rule with mercy. Come to me and learn the once ways. Now swear!”

“I…swear…” he breathed, then fell limp.

“Einon,” Bowen breathed in disbelief, “Einon,” he then looked up to the dragon and yelled, “He’s dead!”
He ran up and pulled his sword from the dragon’s claw, but the flat of the blade caught on one of his talons, and a deep scar now ran down the side of the blade.

“Peace, Knight of the Old Code,” the dragon said, “witness the wonders of an ancient glory.”

The dragon walked up to the dead boy and pulled one of his scales up, revealing a soft bit of flesh, softer than a human’s, that guarded his heart. Carefully, he used a talon to rip the flesh open and pulled out a pulsating object: half of the dragon’s own heart. The heart gave off a soothing red glow as the dragon took it and pushed it into the wound of Einon. As the heart entered the boy, the light vanished, and Einon suddenly began gasping for breath once more. The dragon used a small jet of flame from his nostril to burn the wound closed.

“Half my heart to make you whole,” the dragon recited from memory, “its strength to purify your weakness. Live, and remember your oath.”

Bowen looked up in awe at the dragon that saved his pupil’s life. As the queen and the soldiers left with the still weak boy, Bowen stayed behind for a moment.

“I served the father only for the sake of the son,” he said to the great creature, lowering himself to one knee, “all my hopes rest on him. Forgive a doubting fool. Call when you need of me. Ask what you will of me. My sword, my service, are yours.”

“Only remind him always of his vow,” the dragon said, and walked away, “Knight of the Old Code.”

Unfortunately, things turned to the worst after that. Determined to rebuild the ruins of an old castle, Einon’s first act as king was to enslave the rebels and use them to build a new castle for himself. But he did not kill them, as merciful as it would be, for ‘death should be a release, not a punishment.’ Soon, strange creatures called Heartless appeared, serving the king’s every wish and whim.
Upon learning of this change in his student, Bowen returned in anger to the cavern of the dragon.

“DRAGON!” he yelled when he reached the cave, “I LOVED THAT BOY AND YOU CHANGED HIM!”
But there was no reply, the dragon was not there.

“YOU TRICKED ME, DRAGON! NO MATTER WHERE YOU FLY, NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO I WILL FIND YOU! TODAY I MAKE A NEW VOW! I WILL SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE HUNTING YOU DOWN!”

After that day, Bowen ended his service as an official knight of the realm and departed. No one who mattered (to Einon at least, meaning everyone but the peasants) heard from him for several years.

You'll make his world go round with that, and his nose so long that it would poke a meteor. Careful!

EDIT: By the way, I saw the movie. That Einon is a suker that deserves to be raped by hell spawn. And I especially like the part where Bowen was training the rebels and one of them shot his first arrow straight at the dummy's d***. If I haven't forgotten, Bowen smirked and said, "Good shot."

I'm liking the storyline here. A young prince swears to be just and loyal. He ends up controlling the Heartless as king. Quite similar to Xehanort's story, if I'm not mistaken.....

Hooray for Dragonheart! Sora and Dennis Quaid as Bowen will beat the Heartless down with a vicious blow like The Metal! (for reference, listen to the song 'The Metal' by Tenacious D).

ah yes, our natural archer, BrotherGilbert. my favorite parts of this movie would be the end scene (always moves me, no matter how often i watch it) and the scene at Avalon ("dreams die hard and you hold them in your hands long after they've turned to dust."). the music at the end (To the Stars) truely fits the movie.

i only hope i can do it justice.

EDIT: in that scene, Xuan, Bowen said "Brother Gilbert, you're a natural." after his second shot (the first one went right between the eyes).

Finally! (No offence) Another Chapter, Prologue and Part (Three-in-one) is up! The story may continue at last. No offence, but even is he is a Dragon, shouldn't removing the heart be physically, biologically and evolutionarilly impossible? And besides that, wouldn't it hurt too?

Ah well, the stuff that doesn't make sense aside, great job yet again Merlin.

that would be the sequal, Dragonheart: A New Beginning (and i agree, it wasnt that good). this is the origional (and much better) movie with the actor of James Bond (Shuan Conery, sp?) as the dragon. trust me, you will not be disapointed... this was a good movie.

as for his removing his heart, technically he only removed half his heart. and dragons are mysterious beings, so they can be allowed to do a few things men cant (this is one of those questions you should take up with the directors and story writers of the movie).

EDIT: that, and that is part of the reason it was titled Dragonheart. this is an important concept through the story, just wait.

Xuan: at the time of your posting, Xuan, it was 2 in the morning. and i had school today, so...
