Part Two: The Lost Two
Prologue
Shadow Prince

Just as Xehanort and his apprentice were about to capture Sora, Riku and Kairi; whom they had easily defeated moments before; a mysterious stranger named Xando appeared in-between them.

“What foolishness do you speak?” Xehanort demanded, “just who are you, child?”

The young man named Xando merely raised his weapon and said, “I am the Prince of Shadows.”

Then he swung his sword, and a wave of energy flew towards Xehanort. He managed to easily deflect the attack and fling fireballs and Xando, but they merely bounced off an invisible field. Valzog charged at Xando, but he easily managed to deflect the attack and Valzog was sent flying.

Xehanort flung another fireball at Xando, but a strange transparent sword that had come out of Xando’s sword blocked this.

“My sword is Xcalibur,” Xando stated as more transparent swords came out, “it has the ability to make several ‘ghost’ copies of itself, all of which I can wield telekinetically.”

“Impressive,” Xehanort admitted, “but it will do you no good.”

Xehanort flung lightning bolts at Xando while simultaneously launching a bolt of ice energy. Xando jumped out of the way of ice spell, but the lightning bolt turned and began following him. Xando continued to run and avoid the deadly bolts. Thinking quickly, he turned around and swung the flat of his sword at the bolts. The bolts came into contact with the flat of the blade and rebounded off it, sending it flying into space.

Xehanort then attempted to blind Xando by sealing him in an impenetrable sphere of darkness. However, Xando had befriended the darkness long ago, and simply closed his eyes and listened. There! Here heard Xehanort’s telltale breathing, and launched an energy blast at the source. Xehanort dodged, but the act cost him his concentration, and the sphere of darkness vanished.

“Your time is running out,” Xehanort teased, “it won’t be long before these islands are consumed by darkness and you along with them.”

He was right. The islands were breaking open like eggshells; it was only a matter of minutes before the Heartless consumed the heart of the world. Xando jumped back towards the three unconscious heroes, and began to chant a spell. A magic circle appeared on the ground, encompassing Xando, Sora, Riku, and Kairi. However, before the spell was completed, Xehanort made a portion of the ground beneath Sora break away, dropping him into the abyss below.

“If I cannot have all three,” Xehanort said, “then one shall suffice for now.”
Without time to react, Xando was pulled through a hole in space itself, along with Kairi and Riku, leaving Destiny Islands to its fate.

Riku was quite surprised to find that he was alive. This was immediately clear only because of the intense pain he felt all over his body. Kairi awoke equally surprised. They found the black haired youth standing over their beds.

“You are awake,” he said.

“Just who are you?” Riku said. He could feel a powerful darkness within this individual, more powerful than his own.
“My name is Xando,” the man said emotionlessly, “Some call me the Prince of Shadows.”
“Why’s that?” Kairi asked, just as suspicious as Riku as to their savior’s intentions.

“Because… in the world I lived in, the darkness had already won. Light did not exist in my world. I…was the son of their conqueror. The heir to the throne.”

“Oh really,” Riku said sarcastically, “you sound like you resent that title.”

“Though sarcastic, your statement proves true. I hate my inheritance. I hate my father. I came here in hope of repaying for my sins of the past. I hope to undo what has been done, so that your worlds may be spared the fate of mine.”

“Where’s Sora?” Kairi asked, noting the absence of their dear friend.

Xando looked down at the floor and did not speak at first, then said, “I failed to save him… by now Xehanort has him at his base. I can only guess what fate awaits him.”

“We have to go!” Kairi bolted up, “we’ve got to find him!”

Xando nodded, “we will, Kairi. First, we must find his base of operations, no mean feat itself. And even if we do, we need to devise a plan to get in, preferably undetected. This is not going to be an easy task.”

“How do you know our names?” Riku asked, “We never introduced ourselves.”

Xando hesitated, debating on what to say, “That… is something I prefer to keep to myself for the time being. My past… is not a tale for the faint of heart, and its implications are greater than you can imagine.”

“Well, now I’m interested,” Riku said, “by the way, where are we?”

Xando merely walked to the window and pulled the shades open. They were then treated to a breathtaking view of…

Sora awoke to find himself in what appeared to be a laboratory. He was chained to the wall opposite to the only door by his hands and feet.

“Don’t bother trying to escape,” said the Dark Soldier who had been with Master Xehanort, Valzog, “They were specially created by Master Xehanort himself. Not even the Keyblade can unlock them.”
“Where are Kairi and Riku?” Sora demanded.

“Sadly, some impudent boy interfered and we only got away with you. But do not despair; they will be joining you shortly.”

“What do you want with me?”
“That, my boy, is an interesting thing,” Master Xehanort, “we are going to attempt to recreate a special project done several years ago with you.”

“What project is that?” Sora asked

Master Xehanort smiled. It was just like a predator’s smile, just before pouncing on its prey. “Project: ENDLESS.”

also, i have given thought to an interesting idea. in the near future (sometime after chapter 3), i will be posting a little... "essay" (for want of a better word) about Xando. i would like to see what things you all want me to include in this (i will try to include any idea i get as long as it doesnt spoil the future). i do this mainly because i feel a certain... connection, almost, with Xando (perhaps it is sympathy, or maybe its just because he's my first origional character). anyways, let me know (through this forum, again i rarely notice new PM's) what you want to find out about our mysterious prince.

on another note, ch 1 will be up by Thursday (and then a four day weekend for me, so expect a few more things to pop up during that time).

Jones, i would love to read your fanfic (i dont really care one way or the other for misfortune befalling Sora, but the name sounds pretty interesting) but i am afraid that the amount of chapters you have is far more than i have the time to read. hopefully i will be able to get around to it soon. and jones, i'm afraid i dont see your sig. in that last post (just thought you should know)

in other news, chapter 1 is coming along pretty well (i've been working on it since posting last chapter) so far. i plan to be making my deadline for Thursday (the only thing that can stop me know is a computer crash).

EDIT: i noticed that i didnt say this beforehand, but we wont really be visiting Sora much until Part III (the entire story for Part II is basicly Kairi and Riku, along with help from Xando, rescuing our young hero). we may flash to him (or Xehanort) on ocassion, but the spotlight wont be focused on him until Part III starts. and after that part is done, then the war begins...

ah a new reader. welcome to Destati.

also, i want to add that a few of the Fragmented Tales that i am doing will focus on Xando (in exchange for Part II focusing on Riku and Kairi). he will meet characters that may not appear for a long time, and we will see flashbacks of more of his past (including some scenes that i, for various reasons, could not fit into Part I).

We will even show the significance of his ocarina (a flute like instrument, for those who dont know), and a few more scenes with Colette that, in retrospect, make his tale even more tragic (even at this point in it).

in fact, the first Fragmented Tale will be posted soon after Ch 1 is done (expect Fragmented Tale the 1st to appear around Friday or Saturday). The Fragmented Tales will not be as long as the main chapters (about half as long, on average), but will explain things that are left to speculation in the main story.

finally, i am adding Alladin (the third movie) to my list of worlds that will appear in time. the movie Sword in the Stone, for several reasons, will not be a full on world in itself, though i plan to make some of the characters (like Merlin, of course) appear.

one last thing. i want to say that Fragmented Tales are optional reading. you dont need to read them to understand the story, though chances are everyone will read them anyways, so i just wasted my time saying they were optional, lol.
