Chapter 59

“Where’d you get that letter?” Sora asked, hoping it was just a letter to scare her for some reason. “The King. He seemed upset when he gave it to me, and now I know why.” “So he just gave it to you before we left?” Kairi asked. Anna nodded. Riku sat down beside Anna and motioned for her to give him the letter. She handed it to him slowly and he started to read it out loud.

”Anna, I’m afraid you won’t like what this letter contains, but for the sake of those you hold dear, please keep reading. As you know, your world called Earth is free of the kinds of things our worlds have. Magic, heartless, nobodies, keyblades, portals, and so on; your world was free of these things – but that has recently changed.

When I discovered your home world, I was intrigued of this unknown place you are from. So I when I found Axel in my search for Maleficent, I knew I’d found the perfect way to learn about your world. He opened a portal for me, and we went to Earth. It was all so different, except for two things. Axel and I discovered heartless and nobodies roaming through your home city. We saw what he said was your family, and also your friends. They don’t remember you. Not a memory of you or anything that involved you exists in them any longer.

I used a highly rare elixir to make us invisible, so our presence was not known. But the presence of heartless and nobodies, which were everywhere, was known completely. They seem to have targeted your family and friends as the people they try to harm, or kill, the most. They don’t know what to do to protect themselves, although the heartless and nobodies appear as though they aren’t trying to kill them. The strange thing is, the heartless and nobodies aren’t fighting each other. They don’t mind the other’s presence at all.

They are in dire need of your help. You must find a way to put Earth back in the state it was – a place without heartless or nobodies. If this problem isn’t solved soon, I’m afraid the nobodies and the heartless will spread completely around your world. I am truly sorry this has happened, although I don’t know why or how it happened – no one does. I know you all can find the solution to this dilemma. I wish you all the best of luck. I cannot come with you, though. Pete is still out there, and he may try to raise a heartless army again. I can’t afford for that to happen, so I must find him.

“Are you serious?!” Dane said as soon as Riku finished the letter. “Uh, yea, he is. Why?” Sora asked. “They don’t remember us? How can they not remember us; even a little bit at all? That’s impossible. And how can nobodies and heartless get to Earh? That’s just, not even the slightest bit possible. This can’t be happening.” Dane looked more shocked than terrified, but then again, heartless and nobodies weren’t after this family or friends; they were after Anna’s, and she looked terrified because of it.

“What’s the nearest world from where we are?” Riku asked Sora. “Uh, I don’t know. Something’s wrong with the ship’s controls. The screen’s completely blank.” “You can’t be serious.” Kairi groaned. “I am.” Sora said as he tried to fix the controls. “You can just open a portal in here, can’t you, Anna?” Riku asked calmly. He knew they couldn’t look scared or concerned; they had to stay calm, for Anna. “I guess so.” She answered quietly, only loud enough for Riku to hear. “Okay, then just open a portal to your house on Earth, and we’ll just go there from right here.”

Anna nodded and held out her hand. In a few seconds, a portal was a few feet away from her. She got up and stood in front of the portal, hesitant to walk through. Riku stood up and took her hand. “Don’t worry. In the end, everything will be okay.” He whispered. She nodded slightly, but kept looking at the portal. He went to take a step towards the portal, but found he was a little hesitant, also. He forced his foot in front of him and led her into the portal.

Riku walked out of the portal just a second before Anna did. But he didn’t know what to think about what laid in front of his eyes. “Anna, where’s your house?” He asked when she stepped beside him. He looked over to see that tears were welling up in her eyes. She slowly pointed towards the house in front of them. Riku couldn’t believe that was her house. It looked like it had been ransacked. It looked as though a tornado had come over her house and torn it up. There were parts of the roof missing, holes in the walls, the windows were all shattered, the front door was gone, and the whole place was a mess.

Anna broke out in tears. Riku held her in his arms tightly. He didn’t say anything, partly because it wasn’t the time to say anything at all, and partly because he didn’t know what to say. Riku looked behind him slightly when he heard the others walk through. They all looked stunned at the sight of the house. “Is that her house?” Sora mouthed to Riku. Riku nodded a little. They looked even more astonished now.

They all suddenly heard a crashing noise from within the house. Sora was the first to make his way through the rubble in the front yard to get to the door. Kairi and Dane followed him. Riku led Anna a little farther behind them. When Sora walked in the hole that was once the front door, he couldn’t help but stare at what he saw. The place looked like someone, or something, had tried to bring it to the ground. The walls were cracked; the floor had a gap that showed the basement, and debris from the house lay everywhere. He carefully made his way through he maze of rubble, followed by everyone else.

He jumped over the gap in he floor and walked carefully into what he guessed was the dinning room. It led to the kitchen, then to the living room, then to a hallway. He didn’t know where to go from there. He was startled a little as he saw Anna practically run past him. She ran to the end of the hallway and turned to her right, and stared at the remains of a door in front of her. Sora saw Riku walk past him and followed.

Anna slowly pushed the door open. It creaked and suddenly fell off it’s hinges. Anna jumped, but then slowly walking in the room. Riku walked in after her, but Sora didn’t. “Anna?” Riku noticed Anna looked even sadder than she already was before. “Was this…?” He started without finishing his guess. “My room.” She whispered. The room was so wrecked, Riku couldn’t tell what it was supposed to be. He watched as Anna picked up a broken picture frame on the floor. She looked at it for a few seconds before breaking out in tears. Riku walked over to her and put his arms around her. She held the picture frame tightly in her arms and cried.

Sora, Kairi, and Dane watched silently from the doorway. They couldn’t leave, so they just stood there, all knowing that there was nothing that could be done to make Anna feel better. After two minutes or so, Anna pulled back from Riku and tried to subdue her crying. She held the frame out to him. He took it carefully and looked at the picture. There was a woman, a man, and two boys in the picture. They were standing in front of a large tree, and they were all smiling. “I was in that picture. Between my mom and my brother. That’s, my family.” She said quietly.

Riku nodded, took the picture out of the frame, folded it in half, and handed it to Anna. “When they remember you, maybe you’ll be back in the picture.” He said. Anna took the photo and put in the leg of her boot on her right leg, since she didn’t have any pockets. “Let’s go find your family.” He said as he took her hand and led her out of the room. The others moved out of the way, and then followed behind them. “Where do you think your family would stay, since they couldn’t stay here?” Riku asked. Anna thought for a minute. “Maybe at my grandma’s house.”

“Do you know how to get there?” He asked. “Yea, but it’s going to take a long time unless we have a car.” “You can just use a portal to get there, can’t you? I mean, you can’t legally drive yet, Anna. You don’t have your license. And your permit would be useless, cause there aren’t any adults around, and even if there were, they wouldn’t remember you.” Dane mentioned. “We’ll take a car. I want to see how the rest of the city is.” Riku said as he made his way to the front door, or where it used to be. “Where can we get a car to use?” Sora asked. “We can check the garage, but I don’t know if the car or the truck will be in good enough condition to drive. With the rest of the house looking like this, I’d expect he car and truck to look as bad.”

Since i'm gonna be gone tomorrow & friday...i'm gonna post another chappie for you guys. I'm being nice here, so you guys better like the chappie! lol j/k Hope you enjoy it, though.

Chapter 60

Luckily for them, the car was in pretty good condition. It had some dents and scrapes, and one of the windows was crashed, but it still worked fine. “I’ll drive!” Sora said as he plopped in the driver’s seat. “No, you won’t. Get in the back.” Riku said as he made Sora move. Riku sat down in the driver’s seat, and Anna sat beside him. Kairi, Sora, and Dane got in the back. “Just tell me where to go, okay?” Riku said to Anna as he shut his car door. “Wait, we don’t have keys.” Dane said. “Yea, we do.” Kairi said. Riku got out his keyblade. “That’s convenient.” Dane said to himself as he heard the car’s engine start.

Riku pulled out of the garage, which now didn’t have doors, and pulled into the street. “So, we should find your friends, too. Where would they be?” Kairi asked as they drove. “Probably my school. It’s right over there, if you guys think we should get them.” Riku pulled into the high school’s parking lot and pulled up the underpass. “Go ahead and get them.” Riku said. Anna got out of the car and walked inside the school. “There’s no more room in here, Riku. How are we supposed to fit her friends in here, along with us?” Sora asked. “I don’t know, but we’ll figure it out.” “Where exactly are we on Earth?” Kairi asked Dane. “A place called Missouri. Pretty much the boringest state there ever was. Missouri is part of this thing we call a nation. This nation is called America.” Dane explained. “Can I look at your keyblade, Sora?” He asked. “Sure.”

Sora got his keyblade out and handed it to Dane. Dane looked it over. Riku sat, staring out the car window, Sora looked out his window, and Kairi looked out beside Sora. Dane waited a few moments, and then gripped the keyblade in his hand.

He hit Kairi with it, then hit Sora’s head violently as Sora turned around towards him. Dane stabbed the seat in front of him with they keyblade, purposefully stabbing Riku along with it. Riku immediately went out. Dane looked up as Sora jumped out of the car. “What the heck are you doing?!” Sora yelled as he summoned the keyblade back into his hands. Dane didn’t answer. He just grinned for a moment. Then, in one quick motion, he somehow transported himself beside Sora, ripped the keyblade from his hands, and stabbed Sora with it. Sora didn’t know what had happened. He stumbled and fell against the car. He saw Kairi and Riku inside, both with their eyes closed. Neither of them were moving at all, and Riku was bleeding badly. Dane hit Sora’s head with they keyblade, and Sora collapsed on the ground.

Dane smirked. He got out of the car and gripped the keyblade tightly, which was dripping with Riku’s blood. He walked in the school, in search of Anna. He saw her walking towards the door as he walking in. She looked at the keyblade in his hands, and then noticed it was bloody. “Dane, what’s going on?” She asked, unsure of what to think of seeing her friend with a bloody weapon that wasn’t his. “That’s Sora’s. Why do you have it? Why is it bloody?” Suddenly, she gasped inside. She pulled out her keyblade and held it in front of her, ready to protect herself. “What did you do to them, Dane?!” She felt anger rising up insider her. “Something that needed to be done.” “Why, Dane? What did they ever do to you?!” “It’s not me they did something to; it’s Maleficent. Xemnas, also. Riku was the only one that did something to me, but it won’t happen again.”

Anna looked mad enough to kill. “What did you do to Riku?! He never did anything to you at all!” She yelled. “He’s gone now, it doesn’t matter.” “What!?!” Anna yelled. “We’ll talk later.” He quickly transported himself behind her and hit her head with the keyblade. She fell and watched as everything faded. The last thing she saw was Dane pointing the keyblade at her head. Then, nothing. Just black.

“Wh- where am I? What’s going on?” Kairi opened her eyes. She knew she was on the ground, but she didn’t know where she really was. She heard crashing and screaming noises all around her. She coughed as she took a breath filled with smoke. “Kairi! Kairi, are you okay?!” She thought she heard someone farther off. She tried to sit up, but she got dizzy and fell over. But before she hit the ground, she fell into someone’s arms. She looked up. Everything was hazy at first, but then she could see a little better. It was Sora. “Kairi, are you all right?” Kairi tried to say she was fine, but she really wasn’t, and when she tried to talk, more smoke entered her throat and made her cough. “I’m gonna get you out of here, okay?”

Kairi tried to get up, but she couldn’t. She looked down at herself. She was bleeding, she was scratched up, and she had bruises. Sora picked her up carefully and looked around. Kairi could see what her surroundings were now. There was smoke everywhere. She could see fire, but only in small areas. Large pieces of ruble and metal lay all over. There were bullet shells laying all over the place, and a few guns here and there. She could hear people still screaming, and she still heard crashing and loud banging noises. It looked like they were in the middle of a war. She didn’t see anyone she recognized.

“Riku! I found her. Let’s get outta here.” Kairi saw Riku in the distance, and as soon as he heard Sora, he started running over to them. When he got close enough to them, he looked at Kairi to make sure she was okay. Kairi saw his appearance and was totally shocked. He was bloody, bruised, and scratched up like she was, but worse. In one hand he had his keyblade, and in the other, he held a gun. He was out of breath, and coughed a few times from the smoke. His clothes were torn in a few spots, and some of his shirt was burned. “I think the closest way out is back there. It’ll be hard to get out, though. Stay close to me and I’ll cover you.” Riku said, as he tried to steady his breathing some.

“Did you find her?” Sora asked loudly so Riku could hear him over the other noises. Kairi realized that Anna wasn’t present. Riku shook his head solemnly. “Okay, go. We need to get away from this.” Riku turned around, reloaded his gun, and ran. Sora ran after him, dodging occasional bullets shot at him. Kairi kept her eyes closed. She was scared. She didn’t know what was going on, where she was, why they were all so beaten up, where Anna was, and they were being shot at. Riku kept shooting at the people firing at them, but there were too many.

Riku ran behind a large piece of metal sticking out of the ground. Sora was right behind him. Riku quickly made his keyblade disappear and held that hand out in front of him. A portal opened. “Go!” Riku yelled. “What about you?” Sora yelled back. “I haven’t found her yet.” Riku said, looking at the ground. “I can’t just leave you here!” Riku looked up. “I can’t just leave Anna here!” Sora was silent for a moment. “We’ve looked everywhere for her. She’s not here, Riku. What if she’s somewhere else?” Riku looked at Kairi, who clung to Sora’s arm with her hands. Sora and her were both beaten up badly. Riku knew he himself was just as bad, if not worse, but he couldn’t leave. Suddenly, they heard what sounded like metal rain pounding on their temporary shelter. Gunshots came at them from every direction. Sora looked at the portal, “I’ll come in a minute. I have to find her.” Sora wanted to protest that Anna wasn’t there, but he really didn’t know for sure.

Sora knew Kairi needed to get out of there more than they did. He had to get her out. “Be careful.” Riku nodded and drew his keyblade out again. Sora turned around to walk in the portal. “Sora! Go!” Riku yelled. Sora quickly ran through the portal. He saw sand and the ocean, and guessed they were on Destiny Islands. He laid Kairi down gently and turned around in time to see the portal close. “Kairi, are you still okay?” He knelt down beside her. “Kairi?” Sora noticed her eyes were still closed, and her face was stained with dirt and blood, but there were streaks of tears on her cheeks. Her face, however, didn’t have the tense expression it did before. It didn’t even have an expression. “Kairi, say something.” Silence.

Sora noticed that the part of her clothes that covered her side were soaked in blood. Then he saw the sand beneath it was soaked in blood, too. She was bleeding badly. “Kairi! Kairi, say something!” She had been shot in the side twice while she was unconscious, and her rapid loss had practically been sucking the life out of her. Sora quickly listened for her heartbeat. He couldn’t hear anything. He listened for her breathing. He couldn’t hear that either. He quickly used all the magic and all the potions he could to heal her. Nothing happened. He started doing CPR. He did it for five minutes. It wasn’t working. Until, suddenly, Kairi gasped.

She opened her eyes quickly, and Sora saw fear in them. “Kai, it’s okay.” Tears started flowing from her eyes when she felt the pain from her wounds. Sora quickly got his cell phone out and called 463, the hospital’s emergency number. “I have a girl who’s been shot through the side twice. She’s bleeding badly… Yea, she’s awake… Yea, they were gunshots… I’m on the shore; right by the island closest to the main one... Yea, I’m on the main island… Alright.”

“Sora…” Kairi whispered. She couldn’t talk any louder, but then she suddenly found the voice to scream in pain. Sora knew she was hurting badly; it hurt him to see her hurting like this. “It’s okay Kai, I’m right here.” He gently grabbed her hand and held it. She gripped it tightly as another shot of pain ran through her body. Then, she closed her eyes, and went out. Sora checked her pulse to make sure she was still okay. Her pulse was low, and slowly getting lower. “Stay with me, Kai. Please, don’t leave me.”

That chapter was so amazing! My mouth dropped open and stayed that way through, like, the whole chappie! *gasp* It's practically still open!
