Default The Chronicles of Saldor

Hey all. Anyone here who knows anything about me knows that if there's one thing I'm passionate about, it is my fantasy world Saldor. Originally I intended to create the story of Saldor through an RP series, but things never really worked out. Still, I would like to tell you all about the history of this world, and I know that at least a couple of you would be interested in hearing it. In addition, a personal friend of mine has been encouraging to write the story. In any case, I was wondering how many of you would be interested in hearing about this wonderous realm before I go typing volumes. If you wanna see it, I wanna see your thoughts.

Prologue

Saldor - a land of magic and wonder. This realm has played host to many fantastic adventures of epic proportions throughout the ages, though the tales of most have been lost to the mortal world. The stories live on in the memories of immortal beings, however, and shall never be forgotten. Among these beings is one known simply as The Loremaster. Although powerless in regards to the goings-on within Saldor, The Loremaster is omnipresent in thought and witnesses all. From full-fledged wars to the birth of every child, The Loremaster does not miss a single occurance. Though events may be forgotten or erased from the history books, the memory of The Loremaster is indomitable. It is only though this being that the true and full history of Saldor can be obtained. Indeed, this is the story of that land (or at least a part of it), and quite a story it is. Before delving into this epic, however, one must know about Saldor itself.

Even before history was recorded in Saldor, the various races inhabiting the planet were widely experimenting with magic. This should be of no suprise, considering that every cubic inch Saldor is - and always has been - brimming with magical energy. Among the first written Saldorian documents were several spells written by a magician named Darkos. Considered to be the first mage in Saldorian history, Darkos was a huge influence on the ones around him. It was said that he posessed the ability to burn a villiage with the wave of an arm, and this stipulation was probably correct.

With the rising of Darkos, many mages arcross Saldor began organizing into clans and tribes, usually bringing strong warriors along with them as well. As these clans grew, disagreements began to arise and widespread fighting broke out. These skirmishes usually resulted in one clan being wiped out, it's surviving members being assimilated into the victorious clan. As the number of clans diminished and each surviving faction gained power, dominant forces arose throughout Saldor and formed into many nations, each looking to best the others in magic and technology. After an amount of time, a city-state known as Minos arose as the technological and cultural centerpiece of Saldor. Minos had the best minds of the realm, along with the man-power to back these minds with force. Eventually, in what is today known as year 1, the city-state of Minos became the First Kingdom of Saldor.

For 318 years, the First Kingdom of Saldor grew and prospered. During this time, the Kingdom had formed definitive boundaries and a complex government. A polytheistic religion also arose, with the Kingdom's subjects worshipping seven major gods. Outside the boundaries of the Kingdom, however, the "barbaric" outsiders had formed their own uniform religion. They worshipped countless gods, and swore eternal malevolence toward the Kingdom. A series of holy wars broke out between the followers of these religions, although the warriors of the Kingdom always rebuked any attacks made by the outsiders. All of these people, of course, believed these gods to be real, but they didn't know that one day the gods they worshipped were actual powerful beings that would one day clash, raining terror on Saldor. Although unknown to everyone, that day has arrived.

In the year 319, a series of odd events began. As first, unnatural meteor showers could be seen in the night sky. Then, people began to turn up missing. At first the numbers were low, but as they rose, officials began to notice certain people had been simply wiped from existance. In the latest event, the city of Hammerult, a Saldorian stronghold, vanished. Left in its place was an eight-mile wide crater; no trace of civilization remained. This latest event stirred King Rakon into action. Across the Kingdom, a great call was sent out for warriors and mages brave enough to search for the cause of these events. The answer, the King believed, lie in the ancient art of elementalism. Although this suspicion would prove to be somewhat correct, Rakon had no idea what the actual cause of these events was. It would only later be uncovered that the gods themselves were going to war, and the people of Saldor were going to be caught in the crossfire...

Well if people are actually going to read it I'll get typing on book 1. Thanks for being the first post/bump, GMC.

Oh and yes, Dunjay will be in here, though the incarnation you know of will not appear for quite some time in the series.

Shall I spoil it....this aint the same Dunjay as you know from KoL...its not the very same person atleast.Remember to have my King of the Oni in this RP.Sadamano, good friend of Dunjay.Or if you want, and you will, just call him Sada.If you dont remember his abilities, here ya go

Wind, healing, abit of light so he sometimes blinds people with it or burn them with the heat of light, and SHORT DISTANCE teleportation.I dont want him teleporting all over Saldor like a crazy bimbo.IN the wind powers, just give him a wind blast and gliding. His weapons are 2 katanas and a single broadsword(which will be passed down to his descendant Seirio).

Me and Geist will work on the present, you will work on the past.

I have the story writing down, but I'm still not convinced that I should spend my time putting it in fic form. Convince me.

Ill convince you."Cracks knuckles".Now...for the convincing...."gets down on knees" please!!!!Make this a fan fic!!!It failed as an RP,make it a fan fic.Well the only reason the RPs were bad were because of that rule of 2 paragraphs. Our succesful KoL 1,2,and 3 were succesful because we posted one-liners.

I guess I'm the personal friend? Yes, I will be consistently reading this; and yes I do still think you should make an actual book of ToS.

*Has visions of the future in which ToS is an international best seller*

XD. KoL... those were the days. Perhaps if I stick around here or return I'll continue the saga. It was a great intermidiate level RP after all. KoL4 would be the perfect type of RP to test out a new RP system we're working on to unify the RPers and abolish the pro-novice animosity.

As for you Kills, thanks for the vote of confidence, but I'm actually being pressured from a real-life friend to write the story out fully. She keeps getting me to tell her a few chapters at a time, and by now I've pretty much lined up everything. Anyway, I'll see about getting Book 1, Chapter 1, up by the weekend. If not, over the weekend it is then. Lot's of AP tests = little writing time.
