| Bad Wolf | Riku’s Nobody The Heartless and Nobodies have somehow returned. The walls of the worlds are shattered and now the worlds are connected again. Sora has mysteriously disappeared and Kairi has been kidnapped. The only one who can stand as the champion of the worlds is Riku. Only he can stand in between the worlds and their destruction. _________________________________ Chapter 1: Shattered Walls The young silver-haired and green-eyed Riku watched Sora and Kairi get closer together under the sunset. They were both sat down on the sandy beach holding hands and talking about anything. In the meantime, Riku just sat on a palm tree wondering about all that had happened to them over the course of two years. Some parts were regretful, others he did not regret that he did. “Something’s out there,” he said to himself. “They might not see or feel it, but I do.” He lay back on the palm tree and tried to relax a little. A voice inside of him told him that he was just being stupid, but then again he was resentful to voices in his head telling him things. It reminded him of when Ansem controlled him and used him as a puppet against Sora when he was seduced by the power of darkness. And that was all thanks to Maleficent. She had started all of that chaos that eventually led to Xemnas being defeated once and for all. Riku remembered being able to control the Heartless. He remembered finding Kairi after Destiny Islands was destroyed. He remembered fighting Sora. He remembered when Kingdom Hearts had closed – and he was separated from his friends, but he was still with King Mickey. He remembered being in Castle Oblivion. Unlike Sora who temporarily forgot about being in there, Riku had remembered all those events that had taken place in there. He even remembered the events that had not taken place so long ago … “Riku,” said Sora, as Riku opened his eyes. “Are you ready to come home with us?” “Yeah, it’s getting dark,” smiled Kairi. Riku took a little while to answer Sora’s question. “I’ll meet you guys later,” he said to them both. “I just want to sit here a little longer and watch the ocean peacefully go in and out of the island.” “Oh well,” shrugged Sora. “You coming, Kairi?” “Sure, Sora,” she nodded. “We’ll see you later, Riku.” “I’ll see you soon, Sora, Kairi,” he said, as they both left. He sat up on the palm tree and knew that something strange was going on. He felt somewhat empty inside. It was as if there was a piece of him missing. He touched his heart and sighed to himself. What if there WAS a piece of him missing after all? He had been feeling like this ever since they had returned. And the letter sent to him, Sora and Kairi had been mysterious enough. Riku knew that this peace would not last forever. “Must be nothing,” he muttered to himself. He jumped off the palm tree and joined Sora and Kairi to go back home. ---------------------- A man wearing an Organization cloak stood in Twilight Town on top of the clock tower. He crossed his arms and smiled in the darkness of his hood. It was unknown who this person was, but he was clearly after something or someone by coming here to Twilight Town. “Soon,” he said. “Soon, it will all begin again. In due time, the Heartless and the Nobodies will return to cause chaos. We will rise … once more to avenge our pathetic defeat. Once the plan goes ahead, we’ll all return to get revenge.” He sent a dark blast into the air in anger and retaliation as to whatever motive he had against whoever had made him and the others fall before. The blast hit the sky and suddenly, the solid walls appeared. These were the walls that separated the worlds. Before anyone knew it, the walls were shattered. The same thing happened to each world. Now the worlds were all connected for one more time. |

| Bad Wolf | Thanks for the comment. Come on, people! Please read my story, it took me a long time to think of it and type it out. But for now, I'll post the next chapter. Chapter 2: Darkness Returns Riku awoke the next day to realise what he had seen was just merely a nightmare. He panted, but then began to breathe calmly. Wiping the sweat off his forehead, he looked out of his window to the main island across the ocean. His eyes were full of confusion and curiosity at the same time in that single moment. What had his nightmare meant? He had seen a dark future ahead for the worlds – but why had he seen it? Why him? “I have tell Sora,” he muttered under his breath. “Maybe he knows what’s going on.” Sometime later, Riku took his boat to the main island. He saw Sora and Kairi once again sat on the sandy beach talking and getting closer together. It made him sad to realise that Kairi was closer to Sora than him. He remembered the day when Kairi had arrived at the island and went with Sora to meet her. The two young boys would fight each other to get her attention. But when their adventures had come to an end, Riku had to accept defeat and stopped trying to win Kairi’s affection. He sat in the palm tree once again looking at the ocean come in and out of the beach. His fierce green eyes looked up into the clear blue sky. It was always like this on Destiny Islands. Riku was used to it; after all, he had grown up here with Sora and Kairi as well as with the other islanders. He closed his eyes and fell asleep. Since Xemnas had been defeated, there had been nothing to do except relax on the island. Riku’s mind drifted uneasily. The same images he had seen in his nightmare occurred once again. The Heartless and Nobodies had returned. Several people in Organization cloaks were gathering at Twilight Town. Darkness was shrouded at the centre of the entire universe. A name rang out through his mind … “Kixur,” whispered Riku. “NO!” He jumped and sat up immediately. It was even harder to see those images again. Riku was scared for the first time in a while. Since he had seen things from the darkness, he was feeling scared. He was somewhat scared and afraid when Ansem, otherwise known as Xehanort, had manipulated his body when seduced by the power of darkness even more. Riku felt insecure at that moment. BANG. “What?” he said, his eyes widening by what he saw. It was the same situation the first time around when the Heartless were invading the worlds. A huge dark energy ball was above him. The ocean had turned purple and Destiny Islands was in the process of being destroyed. Riku saw the Heartless appear straight away, so he called forth the Way To Dawn. He was afraid that it was all happening again. He was afraid that the darkness had returned to overthrow the light. But nonetheless, Riku could use both light and darkness. His heart was of twilight. He dashed forward slashing several Heartless with one blow. But that didn’t mean it would be an early victory. Several more appeared to attack him. One Heartless scratched him in the arm. Riku growled at feeling this pain and slashed that one Heartless angrily. He continued to fight the Heartless until they were all gone and defeated. Now his attention turned to the dark energy ball above him. I wield the power of darkness, he thought. My darkness is my own just like His Majesty said. If that’s true, then I can stop the island being engulfed by the darkness. I just have to believe I can do it. He extended his arm towards the dark energy ball and squeezed his hand. It was taking a toll on him having to protect his home. Riku had already lost his island once; he wasn’t about to lose it again. Keeping his eyes gazed firmly upon the energy ball, Riku squeezed his hand hard. The dark energy ball was destroyed. He fell on to one knee still holding the Way To Dawn as support. The sweat poured off his forehead. But now he had another job to do. “Sora! Kairi!” he called. No one was to be seen. He scanned the island with his eyes, but couldn’t see them. As a matter of fact, he was the only islander to be seen. He had only dozed off for an hour, so they couldn’t have gone home by now. Riku felt angry at what was happening. His thoughts were with Sora, Kairi, Tidus, Wakka, Selphie and everyone else who lived on the island. As he frantically searched for them throughout the island, he came across the secret place. He looked at the door that looked like it was about to open. He swung the Way To Dawn around in his right hand and a light glowed from it. This light stopped the door opening and locked it for a few more moments. But right after that, he knew that someone was watching him. “Show yourself now,” he warned, “or else you might not be so lucky.” The figure eventually revealed him. He walked towards Riku and leant against the secret place wall tossing a stone up and down. Riku crossed his arms and knew who it was. He turned to face him and pointed the Way To Dawn at the man. “Axel.” |

| Bad Wolf | Chapter 3: A Reformed Axel “Nice to meet you again, Riku,” smiled Axel as he stepped forward towards him. “I guess you’re not too happy to see me again, are you? I thought you’d be like this.” “I don’t get it,” glared Riku coldly. “How come you’re alive again? Unless this is some trick that the darkness is playing –” “Relax, Riku. Unfortunately, it’s me in the flesh. So I say why don’t you put that thing away and listen to what I have to say? I’m not as evil as you think I am. I’ve changed, Riku, I really have.” “Yeah, as if I’ll believe that!” exclaimed Riku, pointing the Way To Dawn at him. “Once an Organization member, always an Organization member! And once a Nobody, always a Nobody!” “So you think it’s funny to call me a Nobody?” shouted Axel. “You’ll never know our pain! We would find our Somebody, but there’s an easier route via Kingdom Hearts. But you and Sora stopped us doing that. Well, you rather stop Xemnas from completing his plan. Sora was just the puppet – I had no choice, but to help him.” “So you claim,” snorted Riku. “Fine,” said the Organization member, crossing his arms. “If you won’t believe me, then maybe I’ll just fight you and show you the true meaning of pain!” He put his hands to the side and a fire circle emerged disallowing either of them to escape. He summoned his weapons to each hand and looked up at Riku smiling cheekily. “Here we go. Game on, Riku!” Riku was ready. He held the Way To Dawn above his head and darted forward slashing Axel who counterattacked by sending blasts of fire at his right arm. Although this burnt Riku, this did not hold him back. Riku dashed forward again and slashed Axel in a combo that was almost inescapable. To finish his combo, he dived into the air, spun around and flew at Axel hitting him in the stomach one more time. “You haven’t changed at all, have you?” sighed Axel. “That’s just too bad.” “Nope, I’m still the same old Riku,” grinned Riku as he jumped back from a fireball that he sent towards him. With his silver hair swaying in the air and his eyes firmly fixed upon Axel, he seized his chance. As Axel sent many more fireballs at him, Riku swung the Way To Dawn around and deflected them right back at Axel. As he descended upon the ground, Axel was taken aback and was hurt by his own fireballs. Another chance was grasped by Riku and so with Axel down on the ground being vulnerable, he dashed forward slashing him again. It looked like he was winning and he didn’t even need the power of darkness. But how wrong he was. Axel had risen again unexpectedly and had gone into a feral rage. He flew across the battlefield slashing Riku with his weapons until he bled. “But I’ve learnt a few tricks,” said Axel. “I mean, here I am again …” “I’ve not learnt any new moves, but I guess I’ll settle for what I have right now,” smirked Riku. He cried out loud and jumped into the air making several flips. He soon had transformed into his dark form. Riku landed on the ground stronger than ever. His green eyes were bursting with determination. He was wearing complete purple once more including the top of his body with a Heartless symbol on his chest and a white skirt. Riku dashed forward, for what seemed the millionth time, and performed his Dark Aura combo. In and out, he slashed Axel. He was too fast for the Nobody. Axel had no choice, but to try and defend himself. But that wasn’t the case; Riku was severely weakening him. When he was done, Riku reverted back to his normal appearance. That was because Axel had fallen to his knees and the firewall had faded away. Riku dismissed the Way To Dawn and walked towards Axel. “See? You haven’t changed. Not one bit, unfortunately,” said Riku as he sat on a rock. “You’ve got no proof that you’ve changed, Axel. And to whoever brought you back, I’m going to destroy them. I’ll stop whoever gets in my way of bringing this all to an end!” “What? Even Sora?” smirked Axel. “S-Sora? What about Sora?” he stared. “Now THAT’S the part I never got round to saying. Too bad, you may never know. Go ahead and finish me, unless you want to know what’s happened to Sora.” Riku was tempted, but sighed and stepped backwards to let him get back to his feet. “All right then. What’s happened to Sora? Where’s Kairi as well? What happened to the island?” “I’ll explain everything … I know,” panted Axel. “But … you’ll have to come with … me. The island is … declining.” “What? It’s being destroyed?” asked Riku. “The walls … have been shattered …” began Axel. “I … I can’t open a …” “A dark portal, I know,” nodded Riku. The power of darkness inside of me is still mine to control. Axel might actually be telling the truth for once, but who brought him back? Who has the power to do it? Maybe I’ll get the answers from Axel when he recovers. “I’ll do it.” He turned to the wall and extended his hand. A dark portal slowly appeared. Riku watched Axel go through the portal first. Riku went in after, but then he turned back to catch one more glimpse of the secret place. He sighed and lowered his head. He felt guilty for letting this happen. Sora and Kairi had disappeared … so where were they? He still believed that they were alive. They were stronger than he thought – he just knew it. ------------- Meanwhile, different things were happening in Twilight Town. An Organization member stood on top of the clock tower looking out at the town. He pulled down his hood and it was revealed that it was none other than Vexen. It was not long before Zexion and Lexaeus joined him. “Saviour this moment,” said Vexen. “It’s not all the time that Nobodies are given a second chance to get it right.” “Riku ruined our plans before and now we’ll stop him for good this time,” assumed Zexion. “But he’s much stronger this time. For all we know, he might change into Xehanort’s form again. We have to watch the situation more carefully this time.” “I’ll destroy Riku when I lay eyes upon him,” growled Lexaeus. “We must be wary of the others,” warned Vexen. “I know that for a fact that Axel may betray us all again. He betrayed Marluxia and Larxene. So we must be careful.” “However, we may never know the intentions of Xigbar, Xaldin, Saix or Luxord,” said Zexion. “But then again, there is the case of Roxas …” “Don’t forget Namine,” reminded Vexen. “Ansem the Wise messed up everything this time. If it wasn’t for his stupid experiments –” “But we have a chance to finish what we started,” grunted Lexaeus. “So we might as well take advantage of this …” ------------- Riku and Axel arrived at Radiant Garden. They were spotted away by Cloud, Leon, Yuffie, Tifa, Aerith, Cid, Yuna, Rikku and Paine. Cloud and Leon immediately saw Axel who despised of him since he was in Organization XIII. “Axel! What is he doing here?” glared Cloud. “I thought Organization XIII were gone,” assumed Leon. “Hey, where’s Sora?” asked Yuffie. “Sora and Kairi have disappeared,” said Riku, answering their questions and Squall’s assumption. “Axel managed to get to Destiny Islands to tell me what’s going on. I’m not sure what’s going on with the Organization either. But Axel can give us answers to all of these things. Can’t you?” “Yeah … s-sure,” panted Axel. Aerith and Cid helped him to sit down and lean against the wall. As Yuna, Rikku and Paine flew around Riku curiously, Tifa shot Axel a cold look. She crossed her arms as she looked out at the town. Riku ignored Yuna, Rikku and Paine to turn to Axel. He hoped that he would recover as soon as possible. “So what? He’s meant to stay here?” asked Cloud. “Apparently, he’s changed,” replied Riku. “You’re crazy! He’s with the Organization!” protested Cid. Cid wasn’t the only one to protest. Everyone was protesting to Riku who was getting frustrated of it all. The shouting and yelling didn’t stop until several Heartless appeared. They surrounded them all. Riku summoned the Way To Dawn as well as Leon pulling out his gunblade and Cloud withdrawing his Buster Sword. Tifa bashed her hands together and Yuffie took out her shuriken. Yuna, Rikku and Paine flew next to Axel in fear. Aerith stayed in front of Axel to protect him. “The Heartless haven’t stopped attacking for the past few hours,” said Leon. “Yeah, something’s definitely happened,” nodded Cloud. Riku looked at the pair of them, but looked at the Heartless. Yeah, the walls have been broken. The worlds are connected once more. The three of them dashed forward to attack the Heartless with Tifa and Yuffie not far behind them. Riku was quite tempted to change into his dark form and end it right away. But no, he resisted that temptation. As Cloud and Squall took a group of Heartless, Tifa and Yuffie also joined up together as a team to take the next wave. Riku was left alone to handle himself and so he used the Way To Dawn to eliminate the Heartless remaining. As he continued to do this, Axel rose to his feet. “Wait,” he said, having recovered. “I can get rid of them.” “You can?” asked Riku. “How?” questioned Cloud. “Do you control the Heartless or something?” asked Yuffie, eyeing him suspiciously. “No, but –” began Axel. He extended his arm and many Nobodies appeared. As the Heartless began to try to break through, the Nobodies were too quick for them and they defeated the Heartless. The Nobodies then all disappeared. As they all put their weapons away, Axel fell to his knees and Riku ran towards him managing to stop him falling fully to the ground. “You’re not back to your strength yet … are you?” he asked. “Well, you caught me lying,” smiled Axel. “That’s really comforting.” “Why would you protect us like that?” “Because I’ve told you over and over again, Riku. I’ve changed, I’ve reformed.” “Do we HAVE to believe him?” yawned Yuffie. “For now, I guess,” nodded Riku. As Axel was helped into the headquarters, Riku paced around the room. He was clearly worried for Sora and Kairi. They were his best friends, after all. Who knew what kind of danger they’d be in now? They can take care of themselves, he thought to himself. Sora can, but … Kairi might not be able to. I have to find the pair of them as soon as we can. His attention turned back to Axel. “Ok, Axel. Tell us what you know.” |

| Bad Wolf | Chapter 4: Puppets and Masters Axel sat down on the bed in the Radiant Garden headquarters of Leon and the gang’s. He saw a general curiosity growing amongst them and all eyes were on him now. Trying not to take heed of their curious expressions, he began to tell them what had happened and why things were as they were now. “You remember Ansem the Wise, right?” he asked. “The one who called himself Darkness in Zero. Well … DiZ for short, anyway.” “Of course we do!” nodded Yuffie. “Ansem the Wise once used to rule this world.” “And what about him?” asked Leon. “Well,” continued Axel. “Seems like he had plenty of data on the Organization and just about everything else that he knew. But all the data got deleted when everything was restored. But there’s one thing that you should know. He had a backup disk.” “A backup disk?” they all chanted together. “I thought you’d all be surprised by this. I’m sure that Xehanort will remember this backup disk. He stole it from Ansem and kept it in a safe place. He took it to The World That Never Was and hid it there, so that one day, everything would go back to whence it began. His darkness still lingered after the battle he had with Sora and Riku. With the last of his power, he activated that backup disk … to revive the Heartless, Nobodies and Organization XIII.” “But …” began Aerith. “That’s impossible!” argued Riku. “How do you come up with THAT one?” “Oh, I remember Vexen telling me not long before his demise,” smiled Axel. “Before Sora defeated him in battle, he told me where it was and the wonders it had. Xehanort could only activate it since he changed the password! Ansem the Wise never found out. But he realised at the last moment … he just knew that Xemnas would succeed in his plan without his death. And that’s why Ansem sacrificed himself. He sacrificed himself to try destroy Xemnas because he alone knew he had the power to destroy him.” “So only Ansem could defeat Xemnas?” asked Cloud. “Not precisely,” said Axel. “What was left was the Keyblade to send him to his demise!” “But then his darkness still lingered,” said Riku. “How come he still lingered?” “Normally, a Somebody is destroyed when their Nobody is eliminated,” said Axel. “But I suppose that Xemnas broke the rules through Xehanort. The reason why he still lives and why the Organization is back is you.” He pointed at Riku. “ME?” said Riku loudly. “Ok, what did I do this time?” “Xehanort took half of your heart when he manipulated and seduced you with the darkness. Unknown to anyone, there was a Nobody born. Riku, yes … even you have a Nobody now …” “I have a … Nobody?” “Riku has a Nobody?” repeated Cloud. “But that can’t be possible,” said Aerith. “Riku has a whole heart. He IS complete!” “That explains it all,” said Riku and saw their confused expressions. “For the past few days, I’ve been feeling a strange emptiness in my heart. Maybe it was the darkness playing tricks on my mind. Or maybe not.” “Xehanort used the most powerful being of darkness to ensure his victory,” said Axel. “And that most powerful being of darkness being Riku, well … Xehanort just seduced Riku’s Nobody with the power of darkness. Yet even so … he was seduced by the power of light. Your Nobody is called Kixur and he’s a long way from here. Gee, I just wonder if he’s with Xemnas now …” “So YOU know where Kixur is!” yelled Riku, grabbing his cloak. “Riku, calm down,” came a voice. “Doing that won’t help your situation.” Riku turned to see a familiar voice. He rubbed his eyes several times and stood in front of the figure. “I can’t believe this …” he said. “R-Roxas?” “Yeah, bet you’re wondering why I’m here, huh?” he smiled. “Definitely,” nodded Riku. “Wait, why are you a Nobody again? What happened to Sora and Kairi?” “I don’t remember,” said Roxas. “I separated myself from Sora because he disappeared into the darkness. I’m sorry, Riku, but … Xemnas managed to get a hold of him.” “HE WHAT?” yelled Riku, releasing Axel and letting him drop to the floor. “Take me to Xemnas, Roxas. I’m going to kill him this time and properly.” “You can’t,” said Roxas. “You’re not up to your full strength yet. And besides, you need to find Kixur first. You need to reunite with him and then you can destroy Xemnas. The worlds are all in chaos at the moment. Without Sora, they’ll all fade away. But luckily for me …” He summoned the Oathkeeper and Oblivion. “… I can still summon my Keyblades.” “You might not be fully Sora, but I could need you right now,” said Riku. “Watch out!” yelled Axel. Suddenly, Larxene and Marluxia appeared in the corner of the room having walked through a dark portal. The pair of them had evil smiles on their faces. Riku summoned the Way To Dawn and Roxas swung his Keyblades making them cross with each other. “Axel,” said Marluxia. “The traitor,” said Larxene. “So good to see you again, Axel,” glared Marluxia coldly. “You betrayed us! We were so close to controlling Sora and now he’s under the control of Xemnas! How could you do this to us? And why are you here with THEM?” “Organization XIII members,” muttered Cloud to Leon. “I know,” nodded Leon, speaking lowly. The pair of them pulled out their weapons standing beside Riku and Roxas. “I suggest you leave now or else you’ll be overwhelmed,” said Riku. “Riku, a pleasure to meet you at last,” giggled Larxene. “I’m Larxene and this is Marluxia. It seems that your friend Sora is now Xemnas’s puppet and he’s the one pulling the strings now. What are YOU going to do about this?” “And Roxas,” said Marluxia. “How can you turn your back on the Organization? Just remember that you were never meant to exist.” “I’m with them now,” assumed Roxas. “And if you want to resist me, then go ahead. I doubt you got any new skills up your sleeve since the last time we saw each other.” “I suggest you leave now,” said Riku, particularly staring at Larxene in a dark way. “Don’t fight the darkness, let it become part of you,” hissed Marluxia, as he and Larxene made a hasty exit via a dark portal. Riku turned to the others and didn’t really know what to do at that point. I guess it’s fair to say that it’s over … for now, at least. But then he noticed Axel was gone. “What?” he said, seeing he had disappeared. “Axel managed to get away!” “He did?” said Roxas. “Well, what do you know? He did.” “So what are you going to do now?” asked Leon. “There’s only one thing we CAN do,” emphasised Roxas. “We have to reunite Riku with Kixur. What chance do we have if we don’t do that?” ---------- Meanwhile, other things were happening in Castle Oblivion. Sora opened his eyes to find that he was in a room that was locked by a chained door. Confused and worried about everything that had happened, he slowly rose to his feet to hear footsteps. “Who’s there?” he shouted. “Ah, Sora,” said Xemnas, who appeared by his side. Sora jumped back and went to a wall. “It’s so good to see you again. I was becoming worried for your welfare. It seems as though there are many gaps in your mind again, I see. Do you even remember anything?” “No …” whispered Sora. “No as if no you don’t?” taunted Xemnas. “Yes, I do remember things. But I can’t believe that I … no, I wouldn’t do these things!” “Oh, but you did them for me, all right.” “You … YOU MONSTER!” “You destroyed Destiny Islands and then you went around more worlds aiming to seize more power for me,” said Xemnas. “Without you, Sora, I’d be helpless. But I suppose everyone has a weak spot, don’t they? Riku had a weak spot, you know. He was too easily seduced by the power of darkness. Your feelings for Kairi push you beyond your limits.” “Leave Kairi out of this!” pleaded Sora. “Just … make me do anything … please don’t hurt her. She doesn’t deserve it …” “Don’t worry so much about Kairi,” said Xemnas. “She’s in a safe place right now. I have Xigbar and Xaldin watching over her. But should you dare attempt to gain control again, then you know what will happen –” “I know, I know!” said Sora, who looked close to tears. “Please don’t hurt Kairi! She never meant to be involved in this. I don’t want her hurt, but … don’t hurt Riku either! He doesn’t deserve it either.” “Oh really?” he laughed. “I sense his feelings. Dark feelings of … hatred towards you, Keyblade master. He wanted Kairi all for himself, but no … the Keyblade master got to him first. Riku will never forgive you for that. It’s a good job that he’s not here. I just know he wants to rip you apart …” “That’s not true!” argued Sora. “Oh, how I love to make you my puppet, Sora,” said Xemnas. “It’s just too bad that Roxas separated himself from you to save your own skin. But still, it benefits me. He follows the light now – and you follow the darkness under my control.” Sora lowered his head and sat down. He couldn’t stop thinking of Riku and Kairi. He was really worrying about them. I hope you guys are all right … I’m so sorry … for what I did … |

| Bad Wolf | Chapter 5: The Dark Side of Sora Riku and Roxas walked throughout Radiant Garden. They were now walking towards the gummi ship that Cid had built especially for them. Several hours had passed since Axel had disappeared. Riku couldn’t help, but wonder where Sora was and what Axel really DID mean by what he said. He just thought that Axel was hiding more than what they knew. But another thought occurred to his mind. Could he trust Roxas? He’s the only one who I can trust, thought Riku. I know he used to be with the Organization, but he’s a part of Sora and I feel comfortable with that. When we fought for the first time, it was almost as if I was fighting Sora himself. But I won the second time with the power of darkness. What if we have to fight each other again? “You think too much,” assumed Roxas. “You need to let everything out.” “Just like Sora, I see,” smiled Riku. “But do you actually know what really happened to him?” “Apart from being taken by Xemnas and Organization XIII, I have no more clues,” sighed the blonde haired kid. “I was hoping Axel would stay around and that I could get something out of him since we are really close friends. But I guess it’s fair to say that he just managed to get away whilst we were confronting Marluxia and Larxene.” “But why would Ansem the Wise make a backup disk of everything we’ve ever encountered?” asked Riku. “Why would he make it with the Nobodies, Heartless, Organization and everything else in it? I don’t think he’d do that, I did know him for a little while after all. It really does make me wonder why he’d do that.” “I’m wondering myself, too,” nodded Roxas. They carried on walking throughout the world and then came to where the entrance was. A huge gummi ship was there and ready to take off. As Riku looked up into the sky, another thought took over his mind. What if the king knew what was going on? Does he know what’s going on? The truth about what Ansem the Wise did would tear him to pieces, especially since they were close friends. “If only Ansem was alive now, then we’d be able to ask him as much as we wanted to,” said Riku. “So where do you think we should start looking for Kixur, Roxas? You seem to have everything under control yourself.” “Nah, you’re the one in charge here, Riku,” laughed Roxas. “You are the champion of the worlds, after all. I’m just the messenger boy.” “Champion of the worlds? Messenger boy? Gimme a break.” “I’m being serious, Riku. You’re the only one standing in between the Organization and the worlds being destroyed. Besides, here’s a tip. SOMEONE has to fill in the place of the Thirteenth Order, right? I’m no longer with the Organization if you remember. So who would be there?” “Kixur!” said Riku, realising what he meant. “He’s in the Organization? But why?” “Probably Xemnas filling his head with lies, I bet,” said Roxas. “And we have to be careful when going around the worlds. It’s not going to be easy, but we can make it if we try. Now who’s up for some fried Heartless?” Suddenly, many Heartless appeared. As Roxas summoned the Oathkeeper and Oblivion, Riku called forth the Way To Dawn. He turned to Roxas quite amused by what he had just said. “Fried Heartless now, is it?” he said. “Hey, it’s just a new catchphrase,” shrugged Roxas. “Don’t look at me!” “I’ll look at you how I want,” smiled Riku. “Ready, partner?” “You bet,” said Roxas. The pair of them rushed forward at the Heartless. As Roxas swung around slashing the Heartless into nothing with his Keyblades, Riku was moving at fast speeds stabbing the Heartless with his Way To Dawn. The pair of them made a pretty good team seeing how quickly they managed to dispatch the group of Heartless. “Don’t tell me you’re tired?” asked Riku. “Hey … that was only … starters …” began Roxas. “Come on!” interrupted Riku. “We have to go to the gummi ship right now. I’m sure that Leon and the others can handle these Heartless.” “Who knows?” shrugged Roxas. “You might be right.” “I’m always right,” said Riku seriously. “Ah, but for once,” added the blonde haired kid. Riku looked a little frustrated as his silver hair swayed in the air with the breeze that had just picked up. “What do you mean? I’m always right about what I say!” he exclaimed. “I’m the older one here and I’m the champion! You’re just the messenger boy!” ---------- Kairi awoke in a dark room in Castle Oblivion. She rubbed her eyes feeling dizzy and her vision was blurry. She got to her feet, but then fell back against the wall. She didn’t know how she had gotten here, but something had managed to bring her here. It was then that she remembered what happened on the islands – and a shocked expression appeared on her face. “Sora! Riku!” she cried. “They’re not here,” came a dark voice. “That voice … Xemnas?” said Kairi, looking a little confused. Xemnas appeared through a dark portal and it closed behind him as he stepped into the room. Kairi couldn’t believe it. The very person who had ran the Organization was standing right there before her eyes. The very person who had almost plunged the worlds into chaos … “You remember me well, don’t you?” he smiled. “It’s good to see you again, Kairi.” “Why are you back? Where’s Sora and Riku?” she shouted. “Patience, patience, my child,” smiled Xemnas nastily. “Everything will be revealed in due time. In the meantime, please be comfortable by all means. We wouldn’t want anything to happen to you, would he?” He snapped his fingers and several Nobodies appeared behind him. “Sit down and be quiet, unless you want to be attacked.” Kairi sighed as she sat down. She was clearly worried for Sora and Riku and their welfare. I feel responsible for being separated from Sora and Riku, she thought to herself. If they’re hurt, then what can I do about it? They’ll be defeated and I can’t even fight someone like Xemnas. And I don’t have that Keyblade that Riku gave me anymore. “Think about how well they’re doing,” said Xemnas. “It’ll pass the time, trust me. You’ll get so bored so easily in here. Perhaps the Nobodies could provide you with some entertainment? Or shall we just cut to the chase?” “Let’s … cut to the chase,” said Kairi, sighing again. “Good, good, Kairi,” said Xemnas. “Let me introduce you to someone you recognise and saw not so long ago.” Suddenly, Saix appeared from within a dark portal. He cast Kairi a cold look and bowed down in Xemnas’s presence. “It’s good to be back, master,” he said and then got back to his feet. “How is the progress here?” “We’re getting along pretty fine,” assumed Xemnas. “Is there any possible sightings of Axel so far?” “No, but we have Marluxia and Larxene chasing him up,” smiled Saix nastily. “Oh yes, anything to get the traitor that gave them to Sora as bait. I do wonder what his true intentions are –” “Who’s Axel?” asked Kairi. “Did we even ask you to speak?” glared Saix. “Silence,” said Xemnas. “Let the girl speak.” He turned to Kairi. “Axel kidnapped you, remember? He took you away from your island and plunged Sora into rescuing you. We still don’t know of his true intentions, so that is why you’re here right now. After all, you do have Naminé’s memories. You will remember some things now about the Organization.” “Are you trying to gather hearts again?” whispered Kairi in horror. “Don’t be silly,” said Saix. “We underestimated the mighty power of Kingdom Hearts the first time. Lord Xemnas, I’m going to join the search for Axel. After all, that traitor deserves his just desserts.” And with that, he disappeared. “Revenge,” glared Xemnas coldly. “We want revenge for what happened. It’s just too bad that my Somebody’s darkness managed to unlock the secrets behind Ansem’s backup disk. If it wasn’t for Xehanort, then we may as well be dead for good.” Kairi lowered her head in guilt. I can’t do anything to stop them. They’ll only just try to cause Sora and Riku more pain by keeping me here. But I can’t help, but feel knowing it’s just more than revenge … ---------- Meanwhile, Riku and Roxas had landed in Traverse Town. The pair of them had heard rumours flying around that Kixur used to come here often from the inhabitants that lived here. “So what now?” said Roxas. “We have to found Kixur and we need a plan.” “You take the first district,” said Riku. “I’ll take the second district.” “You sure?” he asked. “I could check the first and second districts. Besides, I can take care of myself. I am a powerful Nobody after all. You know how powerful I am, Riku.” “Maybe you’re right,” muttered Riku under his breath. “Do I hear some agreement there?” giggled Roxas. “What? Fine, but just this once,” grinned the silver-haired teenager. “I’ll go to the third district and you check out the other two. Seeing how you and Sora look like each other as well as Kairi and Naminé, then I guess it shouldn’t be too hard to find Kixur.” “But one word of warning,” said Roxas. “Kixur will use the light to get rid of anything in his way. Be careful, Riku. You’re a powerful warrior, but only have half your strength. Kixur has the other half and so he’ll use it against you. He might be confused, so don’t try to jump him if you find him, ok?” As Riku walked into the second district, he looked around to see things hadn’t changed much. One word of warning … he said about twenty or thirty at least. I guess I can get some peace and quiet here. Suddenly, a Shadow Heartless appeared and scratched Riku in the arm. He growled under his breath in pain and noticed several other of those kind of Heartless appear all around him. “Just what I need right now,” he muttered. As the Heartless jumped into the air, Riku swung the Way To Dawn around and slashed them all. They were all gone in one hit. Riku smiled, for he had finally accomplished something upon getting here. Holding the Way To Dawn over his shoulder in case of another unexpected attack, Riku carried on walking towards the third district. He pushed the doors open and looked around. This was where he had been tricked by Maleficent that Sora had forgotten about him and made new friends. This was actually where the darkness grew deeper and deeper inside of his heart. Riku tried to cast the memory away, but it kept coming back to haunt him. I guess you can’t forget things like that, he thought to himself as he came to the vacant house. No one was in there. He sat down on the bed and looked up. Sora and Kairi had told them what had happened after the events at Hollow Bastion. They told him that they had come here and Kairi had sought refuge here until she had ended up at The End of the World with Sora, Donald and Goofy. Sora and Kairi had seen each other for one last time – until going their separate ways. “Some things can’t be changed,” sighed Riku, as he walked out of the vacant house. A slight breeze was heard and felt in the air. It gave Riku a small glint of hope and it made him strong enough to see this through. He was usually the one who knew what was really going on. But this time, he was just as clueless as Sora was in his adventures. It made Riku laugh thinking about how Sora coped in this situation. “Still the same old Riku,” came a voice. “S-Sora?” whispered Riku, who saw him standing there. “It’s really me, I guess,” smiled Sora. “Whoa … are you all right? How did you end up here?” asked Riku. “Riku, I was fine,” said Sora. “I was at Disney Castle and I got a ride from Donald and Goofy. I wish they would have come with me here to help me find Kairi, but they had problems back in their own world.” “I’m just glad to see you ok,” smiled Riku. “I was looking for the pair of you. You and Kairi … I was really worried about the pair of you. I thought you’d make it fine, but Kairi’s vulnerable. My concerns for her are still growing.” “Always the same old Riku, eh?” said Sora. “You could say that,” assumed the darkness warrior. “And you could say that I’m here for a reason,” said the Keyblade warrior. “What reason’s that? I thought you were looking for me.” “I was … but I guess you just went off without me, didn’t you?” “S-Sora? What are you talking about?” “I’m talking about how YOU destroyed the island!” accused Sora. “What? How? I … why would I do that?” protested Riku. “Because you’re jealous,” he glared coldly. “I remember that you wanted Kairi all for yourself when we were younger. I’m going to have to get rid of you, Riku. I have to find Kairi myself and if I don’t, then you’ll find her instead! She’ll love you and not me!” “I don’t understand what you’re talking about!” shouted Riku. “You and Kairi are my best friends! Why would I even love Kairi? Sure, I did at one point, but it’s just a friendship we have.” “Friendship … love …” began Sora. “Yeah, it’s just friendship, Sora,” said Riku. “Nothing too fancy.” But Sora summoned the Keyblade to his hand and then pointed it at Riku. “I’ll get rid of you once and for all, Riku!” he yelled. “You caused the destruction of the island! You wanted Kairi all for yourself and you’re still being controlled by Xehanort! Well? Aren’t you? The darkness still grows inside of you! It hungers for the darkness even more – and I know I have to get rid of you.” Riku sighed. He’s clearly been brainwashed or he’s just crazy. But I’ll hazard a guess that he’s been controlled. He spun the Way To Dawn around in his right hand and held it above his head. “I don’t want to fight you, Sora, but …” he began. “… If I have to fight you, then what choice do I have? And don’t you dare talk about the darkness! I’m a being of twilight now. I can use both light and darkness! If you even want to know the whereabouts of Roxas, then you’ll have to win.” “Roxas? You know where he is!” shouted Sora. “Yes, I do,” nodded Riku. “Now come on! Run at me!” |
