The Way to Dawn

NOTICE: This is my first Fan-Fic, so go easy on me, please?

Now that that’s out of the way I can explain about what this is. This F.F. is in the view of Riku. It will follow him throughout his journeys through the darkness and into the light. I’ll give a short prologue to see how you guys like it. Gulp...

“Take care of her.”

Those were the last words I spoke to him. Now I’m alone, on the other side, the only thing keeping me sane is this. I don’t know what else to do so now I’m thinking it all over. And to think, this all started with humble origins. We were all enjoying ourselves on our island, our home. Kairi, Sora, Wakka, Tidus, Selphie, and me, we were young and carefree. Racing across the beach, playing pranks on our elders, watching the sunsets while sitting atop the Paupo Tree. I miss those days but at the same time I hate them. We enjoyed it though, but then everything changed in those three days. I guess the first two days weren’t weird but the last would change all of our lives, forever.

So like I said this is my first. Hope it’s good…

I personally like it, and it's fairly descriptive for a First Person fic. Of course, your chapters should be longer in the future. Not many people want to read paragraph chapters.

Chapter One: ~Into the Darkness~

Destiny Islands
10:43 P.M.

Night. I dreamed of a strange place. One minuet I was falling down, through the sky and then I hit water and plunged deeper and deeper until I hit solid ground again. When I did a large flock of doves flew out in a circle revealing a woman with a bush of roses encircling her. A trio of pedestals rose from the ground. Atop of those were a sword, Shield, and a staff.

” Choose the one that most suits you.” Said a voice from above me. I chose the sword.

“Good, now chose the one that suits you least.” I chose the staff. The floor shuddered for a second then gave out beneath my feet. I fell for a few seconds then came upon another floor. I landed hard and rolled, Glass showered down and disintegrated a few inches above me. I stood up and looked around, nothing but darkness. I walked to the edge of the platform and then felt something at my back, I turned around and heard a voice

“The darkness might tempt.” My shadow seemed to stretch and distort, then it rose out of the ground, towering above me. It gathered a ball of energy and then lowered its hand down at me, I rolled away and pulled out the sword I had acquired. I struck at its hand and it oozed out black liquid, probably blood. I then ran up its arm and jumped onto its head, it then stood up and started shaking. I gripped it tentacle like hair as it twisted around. When it started to calm I plunged my sword deep into its head. It then jerked it’s head back in pain and I started sliding down it’s back, slicing it in two.
“You’re a natural.” The voice called out.” You are ready.

I awoke from a light nap by a clap of thunder. I looked at the clock that hung on my bedroom wall, it read 10:43. I glanced out of my window and looked up, I saw a blanket of dark clouds that seemed to devour the sky. In the middle of the clouds was an orb that resembled a vortex of some hidden origin. ”What the Hell?” I asked to the empty air, ”The raft!” I said as the thought crossed my mind. I quickly jumped to my feet and darted for the door.

The rain suddenly stopped, it wasn’t a natural stop, either. It was… too sudden. “You know why this is happening.” A voice called out from the air behind me.” The door has been opened.” The voice continued.

I glanced behind me and said a dark figure in a cloak.” And just who are you?” I asked the mysterious stranger.

The stranger looked up for a second and then walked back into a portal of darkness,” Let’s just say, a friend.” He said before the portal closed completely. The rain commenced pouring down, if not harder than before.

I was startled about this encounter, but a clap of thunder ended that. I ran out of the front door and sprinted to the beach. As soon as I arrived I was bombarded by a group of dark creature, Heartless. I scanned the ground around me I saw a stick that must have fallen off some tree and grabbed it. I tried to dispatch some of them but I came to no conclusion. So I had no other choice but to run. I saw a silhouette of a girl, it resembled Kairi. She was up by the Paupo tree. “Hey, Kairi.” I yelled to her, she didn’t seem to respond. I ran up to the small island and she seemed to disappear.

“You know what you must do.” A familiar voice called from the air around me,” Accept the darkness, let it embrace you, empower you.” The voice declared as it faded into the sound of falling rain and whistling wind.

A figure appeared in the distance, it was Sora. He seemed to be heading this way, when he got there I said,” The door has been opened, and once you step through it there’s no turning back. All of our friends, and family will be gone. We won’t get to see them for a long time, if ever.” I said as I extended my arm.” I’m not afraid of the darkness!”

(So there it is, Chapter one…. Wrote it in an hour and a half…so yeah…Enjoy it…)

Chapter 2: ~No Turning Back~

Void of Darkness
Unknown time

Darkness.
I watched Sora decide whether or not to follow me, it seemed that he started to join me, reaching out his hand to clasp mine. But something, some unknown force had stopped him. The darkness enveloped me, leaving him and everyone else on the island. The darkness overwhelmed me and I blacked out.

I awoke in an unknown place, covered in darkness, time seemed to be non-existent. I pulled myself from the ground and stood up.

“Sora? Kairi? Anyone?” I called out to the darkness,” Of course, they’re still on the island.” I thought to myself as I looked around.” So how do I get out of here?” I noticed a sword lying on the ground a few feet next to me; I walked over and picked it up. It felt warm to the touch and was black, had a black blade and a serrated blade.

“You accepted the darkness. Are you ready to help me?” The familiar voice called out from a distance behind me. I turned around and said a pale woman in black carrying a black staff with a green crystal atop it. I pointed the sword to her throat, indicating that I would fight her if I had to.

“What are you asking? I want to know what happened to my friends, Sora and Kairi.” I demanded to the mysterious figure.

“Your friends, Sora and Kairi. They’re somewhere. On the island, no. But somewhere, yes.” She said as she waved her staff in a broad direction, indicating that they were indeed somewhere.

I ran up to her and looked into her deep, green eyes.” Can you take me to them?”

She laughed and said,” Only if you accept my offer and become my… apprentice.” She said as she stared back at me, her eyes, piercing into my soul.

I glanced behind her and saw that a portal was still open.” No thanks, I got my own way to get to them.” I said as I rushed past her, into the portal.

“Just as I expected.” She said as soon as I was gone.” You, young Riku will soon fall to the darkness and become my slave.” She said with an ear-shattering, blood freezing laugh.

Jumping through space, by the use of darkness is an odd feeling. First you feel cold and your skin is numb to the touch. Then your head feel as if it is about to explode, your eyes feel as if they would melt out of your head. Finally you feel warm, warmer than you felt when you first entered the portal, you feel as if you have just stepped into a heated bath or a hot spring. I felt all of these sensations for the first time and then I remember seeing a light. The next thing I knew I was in a small town and I could since Sora’s presence.

I went around with town asking people if they had seen a teenager with crimson brown hair, red clothes and yellow shoes. Most of them said no but I did run into a man with blonde, spiky hair who claimed to have seen him run by his shop. The man’s name was Cid and he owned the local Gummy Ship garage. I thanked him for his information and went to work. I walked toward a large double door that had a gold sign that read,” Second District.” I walked through it and walked towards a balcony on the other side.

Heartless appeared around me. I pulled out my sword and then did a back flip over the group. Then I charged through the heartless letting each take a slice from my sword. Soon they were all dispatched and I went on my way.

(Sorry guys…I’m kinda brain-dead right now…I’m at a creative stump…I’ll write more when I get out of it, ok? And I hope that some people are reading this.....and that I'm not waisting my time....)
