| Team 29 on the line... | Okay, thanks sh im playing kh2 for 'holding down the pwner bunker' lol. Okay here's the next update. This one's kind of lengthy and has some more kissing stuff in it. Also, I don't want to sound sexist with all the femanine seduction stuff. Don't worry, they won't all be like that (you'll know what I mean when your read the update). So here it is. Hope you like it -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Haerthos gasped as the inky black tail suddenly released him, and he fell to the ground like a stone as Ira’s Heartless screamed as it was burned by the mega-hot flaming gas. He doubled over, the pain in his body matched by the pain the tail had caused. The agony caused by being to far from Sora had saved his life, no doubt about that, but now it was becoming too deadly. The pain ripped through Haerthos, and he screamed, on his knees as he tried to call for help before the Heartless got a hold of itself. “Sora…” he gasped, the pain increasing all the time, his eyes glazing over in pain, “Kairi… Wyrda… King…” But they obviously couldn’t hear him, the ones who could hear him too far away, and Sora and Kairi moving farther every second, causing him more and more torturous pains as they trudged through the snow, unaware of the agony they were causing Haerthos. Ira’s Heartless was recovering quickly, and it stared down at Haerthos, wincing in pain as the flames licked its dark body, its pincers snapping menacingly, and its tentacles waving slightly in the air, like cobras about to strike. Haerthos tried to call again, but the pain hit him even harder like a demolition ball crushing into a building. All he could do was lie there, panting as Ira’s Heartless grew closer, the flames outlining its body like some ferocious beast from the underworld. “So, you want to do this the hard way,” it hissed menacingly, a terrifying mix of Ira’s voice and the quiet roar of thunder, its yellow eyes burning into Haerthos like a hot knife, “I was going to make it painless for YOU Haerthos, but I guess you’re just like all the others.” Haerthos tried to spit out a retort, but he couldn’t do anything but gasp, as darkness began creeping into his vision, like shadowy Heartless slowly creeping into the corners of his eyes. The pain was shattering his body like a little kid with an action figure, ripping him limb from limb and scattering his consciousness like leaves into the blowing wind. He felt the darkness creeping up on him, and the only thing he saw before he blacked out was Ira’s Heartless, burning like some demon from hell and smiling a smile fiendish enough to match… Sora stopped for a second, his snow covered shoes halting suddenly on the snowy path. “What is it Sora?” asked Kairi, stopping close behind him, and touching his hand. “I dunno,” he said, frowning slightly and rubbing his forehead, “I just feel… kind of … funny. I can’t…. I can’t see…” He wobbled slightly on his feet, his eyes glazing over, before he fell to his knees, collapsing unconscious on the snow covered mountain, the last thing he heard being the scream that emitted from Kairi’s horrified mouth. Darkness… He was falling through darkness… Slowly, like the shadows around him were thick, and solid. He couldn’t see anything, but he had the strange sense he’d been there before… He felt a thump as he landed on a pale, stained glass floor, and he realized with a shock he had been here before. “It’s happening again,” he whispered, as he stared around at the giant stained glass pedestal he was standing on, “I’d forgotten, it’s been so long…” Whenever Sora ended up in this mysterious place there was always an important message for him. What was it this time? He got his answer soon enough. A strange figure suddenly appeared, appearing in a flash of silver light enough to equal a thousand stars. Once the light stopped flashing in his eyes, he saw that it was a beautiful woman standing there. She wore a dark purple shirt, which stopped right above her navel, and a matching purple skirt, affixed with a purple heart buckled on her belt. She had crimson chestnut hair, just like Kairi’s, but the thing that caught Sora’s attention, was her beautiful, majestic, sapphire, blue eyes. But those eyes looked scared, and empty. Sora blinked and he swore they were filling with tears. She raised a creamy hand, and pointed Sora, speaking one word with a celestial voice unmatched by a thousand angels. “Haerthos,” she whispered, and with that everything went black again. Sora woke up to a hard, cold, slap, and he snapped his eyes open to see Donald readying himself for another whack. “It’s okay, I’m awake,” he yelped before Donald could slap him again, and they all breathed a sigh of relief. “Sora, are you okay?” asked Kairi, worriedly, kneeling by his side, “You collapsed all of sudden and the King and Wyrda couldn’t find out what was wrong with you, and… what happened?” “I don’t know,” Sora muttered, trying to think, “I was… in darkness. Then I was back at the stained glass place where the Keyblade chose me and stuff. And then…” his eyes widened as he remembered. “There was this girl there,” he blurted out and Kairi’s eyes narrowed, “No not like that. She was just standing there, looking really sad and stuff, and then she said something…” His eyes raised to look at the others, firm and serious. “She said, Haerthos,” he said, standing and brushing off the snow, “I have to tell him about the dream. I think it’s for him.” Wyrda nodded, and turned, his eyes frowning for a second, and then widening. “Haerthos isn’t here,” he said, his eyes reflecting the real worry in his face, “His invisible spirit trails don’t even follow you up here!” “What?” asked Sora incredulously, spinning around, “Maybe he behind…” “Impossible,” countered Wyrda, walking quickly back down the mountain, “Spirits experience incredible spiritual pain when too far from the Keywielder. If we can’t see him he must be doubled over in pain right now.” “But once Haerthos felt the pain, wouldn’t he come running?” asked the King, worried as they began to sprint down the mountain, “I mean, he did that all the time a couple of years ago…” “Not if he couldn’t move,” said Wyrda, breathlessly racing down the mountain, approaching the bend in the path, “He wouldn’t have the chance to run if he was under attack.” “Under at… Oh no…” whispered the King, increasing his pace as they all raced down the snowy mountain side, “What if he...” They rounded the corner and gasped at the sight below them. A gigantic Heartless, with giant sharp pincers for hands, snaking tentacles on its back and head, and a gigantic tail instead of legs, was on blazing like a bonfire, the flames licking its entire body, as it menacingly bent over an empty patch of snow. At least it looked like an empty patch of snow to Sora, Riku, Kairi, Donald, and Goofy. But the King and Wyrda started running, each activating the self-email system for their weapons. “Haerthos!” they shouted, running down the patch of snow like a race horse to the finish line, their weapons glittering like twin stars in the night sky. Haerthos lay on a sunlit beach, smiling as the waves licked his feet, sipping his mint julep as the sun danced daintily on his body. Ahhhhh, it was paradise. He closed his eyes to feel the wind on his face and then heard a splashing sound in front of him. He kept his eyes closed, relishing the calm feel of the wind on his warm body until he felt a dripping someone come close to him. He opened his eyes slowly, wincing as the sun’s rays shone directly into his face, only blocked by the dripping silhouette of a certain somebody. “Ira…” he breathed, shifting his body up so he could look at her, a shining angel wrapped in the golden light of the sun, like a celestial towel wrapping itself around her, “It’s you…” “Haerthos, you have to get up,” she said firmly, tossing her wet hair out of her eyes, and planting herself firmly in front of him, “It’s time to go.” “But I want to stay here,” whined Haerthos, sitting up fully, and staring at Ira thoughtfully, “I want a vacation, and I want you!” “It’s not time yet Haerthos,” she whispered, bending down and putting a dripping wet hand onto his open palm, “You must do your duty first…” “Duty, duty, duty,” he muttered, yanking his wet hand out of hers, “That’s all I do anymore. What happens to what I want? Don’t I deserve a vacation after all I’ve done?” “You will get it Haerthos,” soothed Ira, taking his hand back in hers, and staring at him with her shining blue eyes, just like the heavenly waters behind her, “You will get it eventually. And then we can lay in the sun forever. Just you and me…” Haerthos grinned at the thought, and Ira laughed, leaning over him holding his head in her wet hands. Haerthos felt his breath recede, as he gazed into Ira’s bright blue eyes, and she leaned closer quietly, and kissed him softly, pulling him up until he was standing. “Just one more time, Haerthos…” she whispered as they kissed into the fading darkness, “One more time…” “No…” moaned Haerthos, trying to pull her back toward him, “I don’t want to wait…” “Then don’t you idiot! Pick up your damn weapon and fight!” Haerthos awoke with a start, his eyes snapping open as Wyrda slashed at another snakelike tentacle with his lance. “About time you got up!” he snapped, twirling his lance into an attack position, “I thought I’d have to defend your helpless body forever.” “Who’re you calling helpless?” called Haerthos as Wyrda barely staved off a lashing tentacle that was heading toward them. Wyrda growled menacingly and Haerthos decided it was not the best time to argue. He jumped to his feet and surveyed the scene. Donald and Goofy were hitting Ira’s Heartless from one side, while Sora and the King took out the rear, Kairi and Riku assaulting the front. It seems Wyrda was guarding Haerthos’s body, but now with Haerthos awake, Wyrda leapt off to join the fray, not before throwing him is dropped flamethrower. “I think you’ll need this,” he shouted, tossing the metal weapon to him, and Haerthos nodded, rushing toward the others with flamethrower in hand. Donald fired a quick thunder attack, zapping the Heartless’s left arm, causing it to involuntarily fire rapid bursts of dark energy at him, which Goofy leapt in the way to block with his new shield. Sora and Mickey leapt in a joint limit attack, slashing rapid fire in unison before Sora launched Mickey into the air to take out the tentacles on the Heartess’s head. Riku leapt into close range, slashing left and right with his darksaber, while Kairi covered from behind him, blasting any tentacle that got too close with a shining bullet from her pistol. Wyrda leapt into the air, slashing a figure eight with his lance through the Heartless, severing several tentacles in the process. Unfortunately the tentacles that fell to the ground only transformed into small Shadow Heartless, which made the attack all the more difficult. Haerthos replaced the empty tank with a new can of flammable gas, and let loose as he leapt at the Heartless. A torrent of flame shot from the end of the barrel like the breath of some mighty dragon, setting the already burning Heartless on fire already. The beast let out a howl, and slashed Haerthos with a burning tentacle. Haerthos tried to dodge, but the flaming tentacle smashed into him before severing from its user, creating a pile of flaming Shadows that scampered after Haerthos. The King slashed feverishly at the tentacles on the Heartless’s head, each glowing red eyes staring at him, as he hacked away at the snakelike creatures. But for every one he cut off, another two would just grow in its place, and soon the head was wriggling like seven miniatures Hydra’s glaring at him with pulsating crimson eyes. “Uh oh,” he whispered, as the eyes let out a blast of scarlet energy, blasting him off its head and sending him flying into the air. Donald and Goofy finally managed to take out the left arm, horrified that the pincer arm was replaced by a giant slithering snake. The beast stared at them with its horrid yellow eyes before lashing at them, it’s fangs as long as the Keyblade itself, and just as deadly. Donald and Goofy leapt out of the way as the snake lashed at them, but didn’t escape the putrid breath that came with it. The snake’s head let loose a tongue of burning hot flame, enough to match Haerthos’s arsenal, which scorched Goofy’s shield and set fire to his hat before Donald put it out quickly. Kairi saw the predicament Donald and Goofy were in, and tried to run over and help, but at that moment, Riku had finally cut off the right arm of the Heartless with his darksaber, grimacing with triumph as the arm fell to the ground with a thud. “Riku, look out!” shouted Kairi, but as Riku turned to look, the Heartless suddenly grew a new arm, a shiny black blob that seemed to have no shape, except a round bubble-shaped sphere at the end. Riku spun around too late, and it swept him up, the black material seemingly absorbing him as he slashed left and right with his darksaber, helpless as the black goo devoured him whole. Kairi cried out and raced toward the arm, but it swung out, knocking her aside and flinging her into the snow bank. Riku lay, confused as he sat upon a dark, gloomy beach, the dull waves sounding the same as waves anywhere else in the world. Where am I? he thought, staring around at the empty beach, and then he recognized it. It was the beach he and Sora had visited after they beat Xehanort’s Nobody. The realm of darkness’s beach. He had loved it here and would have stayed if Sora hadn’t found a way out. Sora ruined everything, thought Riku angrily, surprised about how angry he had gotten. What were these feelings? Was this what he really felt about Sora? Or was this some trick of the Heartless? Wait, what Heartless, he found himself thinking, Was there actually a Heartless? Or maybe I was dreaming it… He stared around at the dark beach and sighed. I was perfectly content to stare here, he thought, staring at the waves washing up on the beach, But of course we had to do it Sora’s way. Why can’t I do it my way for once? Why can’t I do something that I want to do? Don’t I deserve that for putting up with Sora’s crap all these years? “Yes you do,” whispered a voice, and Riku turned around to see Kairi standing there, her long read hair blowing slightly in the wind, her blue eyes shining at Riku, her pupils fixed on Riku’s distraught face. “Kairi,” he gasped, standing quickly, “How much did you hear? How did you get here? What are you doing in this place?” Kairi just smiled, and walked slowly up to Riku, her long hair blowing in the wind like a majestic crimson sail, standing out in the dark beach. “I’ve always been here,” she whispered, approaching Riku gently, her chin just barely reaching his shoulder, “Just waiting for you…” “Waiting for me?” asked Riku confused, his eyes looking wildly at Kairi for some kind of explanation, “Where’s Sora?” “Sora,” scoffed Kairi, her eyes darkening once, “Is he all you care about? Are you going to play second fiddle to Sora for the rest of your life?” She spread her arms and looked him imploringly, “I’m here for you now…” Riku stared at Kairi with his mouth open in shock. It had never occurred to him that those words would come out Kairi’s mouth, not in a million years. It’s true that he had feelings for Kairi for a couple of years, but he had known that she and Sora were meant for each other and he had respected that. But now that she was just standing there, waiting for him to take her. “But what about Sora?” he asked, carefully stepping back from Kairi, “What about the promise you two made?” “Well, I’m making a new promise,” whispered Kairi, stepping toward him again, “And I’m promising that I don’t care anymore.” And with those words, she stood on her tip toes, leaned forward, and kissed him. Riku stood rigid for a second, his eyes bulging his hands open with surprise as Kairi kissed him in a long, drawn out kiss, but slowly, he closed his hands on her small body, and kissed her back, his hands wrapped around her like a comforting blanket, as they kissed in there love, the feelings lost for years and years rekindling inside Riku’s heart, burning with a fire, until he couldn’t control it any more. He kissed her hard and long, and Kairi moaned as Riku kissed her again, moving toward her to do what he realized he had so longed to do for many long years… But then an image flashed in his eyes and he was suddenly blinded by a flash of blinding light, an eternal whiteness that shone in his eyes like the light of a million Keyblades. He tried to shield his eyes with his hand but the light refused to be blocked off, except by a dark silhouette that appeared in the bright light. He couldn’t see who it was, but it was he heard the voice ring out through the light, cutting through the light with a voice so beautiful it sounded like a chorus of angels. “Remember Sora…” it shouted, yet in a soft tone like it was speaking to a friend. Riku gasped as the brightness increased and suddenly found himself back on the dark beach, stumbling backwards as Kairi walked toward him, curiously. “What’s going on Riku?” she asked, stepping toward him, and then smiling fiendishly, “Oh I get it; you want me to coax you into it…” “Quiet, Heartless,” snarled Riku, summoning his darksaber in a flash of darkness, “I see through your lies. You aren’t Kairi. Kairi would never do that to Sora.” “I’m telling you, forget about Sora,” said Kairi, her eyes turning menacingly yellow, “Is Sora here to catch us? No, he isn’t. What Sora doesn’t know won’t hurt him…” she pleaded again with those puppy dog eyes, but Riku activated his V2 gauntlet with a whir of machinery, his eyes set, and his darksaber ready to strike. “Fine, so you want to play hardcore?” hissed Kairi, raising her hands, her eyes now bright yellow, “I can play hardcore…” Suddenly, shadowy black tendrils shot out of the ground, each one bearing a dark red eye. Kairi floated into the air, her red hair flying in the air like a mane and lightning flashed through the skies, like a giant hand ripping open the heavens. She screamed and pointed a long, slender finger at Riku, a silver light piercing through the darkness. The tentacles shot toward Riku like snakes on a plane, and he leapt forward to meet them. A shadowy black tentacle flew on his right, and he dodged to the left, slashing downward and cutting it in two, all the time heading for the illusive Heartless-Kairi. He leapt into the air as two tentacles tried to take out his legs, and blasted downward with a dark energy bullet from his V2. The tentacles exploded in a mass of shredded darkness, and Riku was hurled into the air, now on the same level as the Heartless-Kairi. Kairi shrieked and moved backward, and more tentacles shot into the air, trying to wrap their deadly coils around Riku. Riku spun in the air, slashing left and right at the rising tentacles, blasting any ones that got too close with his V2. He flipped over a large one, and pushed off in the direction of Heartless-Kairi, before aiming back and letting loose a dark-energy charge attack with his Dark-Gunner Gauntlet. The tentacle collapsed onto the ground, twitching before turning back into shadows. He spun around and found a score of tentacles, guarding Heartless Kairi like a shield, more of them coming every second behind him and below him. Roaring like a tiger, he jabbed his darksaber into the special slot in his V2 gauntlet, his saber now part of the gauntlet on his arm. “Time to kick some Heartless butt,” he shouted, the darksaber powering up with every milli-second. No matter how hot it is, he thought quietly to himself, before leaping viciously at the wall of tentacles surrounding Kairi. He screamed, bringing his saber-gauntlet swinging around behind him, now glowing with immense purple flames, his whole body alight with the dark energy coursing through his saber. He could see Kairi’s eyes through the wall of darkness. They looked scared and forlorn. They seemed so real to him for a second that he almost hesitated when he struck the wall. Almost. He slashed horizontally through the shield of tentacles writhing from the ground, screaming like a maniac as the purple flames transferred from his body directly into the slash he cut through the wall, a blinding purple wave crashing through the tentacles, causing them to explode instantly into a thousand tiny pieces. Kairi screamed as the wave hit her, falling back until she landed with a thud on the dark beach, the tentacles all around her vanishing instantly. Riku descended slowly, his body still glowing with purple flames as he bent low to the defeated Heartless Kairi, his eyes narrowed and his sword ready to deliver the final blow. “So this is it then,” she whispered, her eyes turning back to blue again, “We stand here alone on this beach, with me lying on the ground, utterly defenseless, and you standing over me with a blade. I am completely at your mercy. You can do with me whatever you like…” Riku froze for a moment, the saber in mid-swing, and Heartless-Kairi smiled with triumph. “Face it,” she whispered, beginning to get up, “You couldn’t kill me even if you wanted to. You love me.” But when she looked back into Riku’s eyes she gasped as she saw only determination and will, facing her defiantly in his blue eyes. “It’s true, I love Kairi,” he whispered, his sword glittering in the darkness, “I love her more then anything. Except for my friendship with Sora. He is worth more then anything me and Kairi can have together. We both know that. But obviously you don’t!” Heartless Kairi screamed as Riku swung his darksaber back and shot it forward to stab it directly into her dark, corrupted heart… As soon as the tip of the saber hit the Heartless’s skin, the whole beach blossomed into light, radiating around Riku like a millions of shining stars, all shining their light on him. Riku shielded his eyes again, the last thing he saw before he whited out was the smiling face of a beautiful girl, whispering a thank you in the white light… Kairi gasped as Riku fell through a hole in darkness that had appeared out of thin air, smacking the ground like a stone before he groggily got up. “Riku! Are you okay?” she shouted, running over to him and sliding on the ground toward him. Riku shook his head and stared up at her, his eyes staring questioningly into her face, making her uncomfortable. “Riku?” she asked quizzically, “Are you all right? You’re looking at me funny…” Riku shook his head again and smiled at her once before grimacing in pain. Suddenly they heard a roar and they spun around to see Ira’s Heartless wriggling in pain. Suddenly it grew even bigger, doubling its size, and spinning to face Riku, hissing and roaring in pain. “You hurt it,” whispered Kairi impressed, turning to help him up, “How did you do it?” “I had to face my deepest temptations,” whispered Riku, disconnecting the darksaber from the gauntlet and dual wielding the weapons once again a he stood up to face it, “And my guess is that each and every one of us will have to face it too before we can beat it.” “Well if you got through with your sense of humor intact, how hard could it be?” laughed Kairi, pulling out her pistol and rushing toward the Heartless, “I could use a little action myself.” Riku just stared after her, worry coursing through him like flames through the Earth. He had a very bad feeling about this. Kairi wasn't used to seeing her own worst temptations staring her in the face. He had gotten some used to that when taken over by Xenahort's Heartlesss. By Kairi was innocent, like a rose. He flinched mentally as he thought how the Heartless would crack on her. He had to keep her safe... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay wasn't that a really stupid ending? Anyway I hoped you liked the rest of it. I will update as soon as possible with schoolwork and stuff, so please tell me what you think. PS. Here's a shoutout to my two biggest fans Keyblade Smitey and sh im playing kh2! *yay applaude and cheers from cyberseraph* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last edited by Chariot of Fire; 09/09/06 at 08:53 PM. |

| Team 29 on the line... | Okay here's the next update. Sorry it took so long for me to write it, but I've had a lot of hmwk the past couple of days. Its kind of long, but I hope you like it anyway. This temptation is a little different then Riku's temptation, and I don't think it fits as much, but I hope you find it suitable anyway. Here it is... PS. Sorry Keyblade Smitey about SoaP. Your post really did crack me up though... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Riku followed Kairi like a dog as she fired round after round into the Heartless, leaping forward to slash the large black orb away anytime it got near her. He couldn’t let Kairi go through what he went through… He couldn’t let any of them go through what he went through… Sora noticed Riku’s odd attack patterns and leapt over the Heartless, slashing left and right as he vaulted over the shadowy black tentacles, and landed neatly next to Riku, slashing madly at the tentacles that chased him. “Riku,” he breathed heavily, standing back to back with him, matching Riku’s every move as he cut down a particularly nasty red-eyed tentacle, “What’s going on? Kairi can take care of herself. Help me take out the arm!” “No one can take on that orb,” said Riku quietly, and he was about to tell Sora about the dark powers of the orb on the Heartless’s arm, but they suddenly heard a scream that shattered there reverie. They spun around and saw Kairi, unloading a full clip of holy bullets on the tentacles wrapping itself around her leg. “EAT LIGHTNING, WORM!” she screamed, triggering the voice-activated skin shield, and sending 10,000 volts of electrical charges down the thin air shield on her leg, and straight into the vile carcass of the shadowy tentacle, which promptly shrieked and exploded into fragments of darkness, each dissolving black mist, fading away into the snowy background. Kairi looked up at Sora and Riku watching her and smiled, flipping her crimson chestnut hair back. “I told you I could take care of myself,” she said cheekily, smiling a broad smile as she blew the smoke off her gun, James Bond style, “There’s absolutely nothing to worry abo…” but the words were knocked out of her mouth as Riku and Sora dived for her, narrowly pushing her out of the way as the black orb came swing out of the sky like a giant shadowy demolition ball. “Get back,” shouted Riku, activated his V2 and firing his dark bullet rounds at the swinging orb, which now looked more menacing then ever, a black eclipse stretching across the blue sky, “Sora, keep it at bay!” Sora nodded, and brought his Keyblade in front of him, lowering his stance carefully to keep his center at balance. The orb waved in the air like a entranced cobra, before the arm slashed out and Sora blocked instantly, sending the orb rebounding out, arcing in a wide circle before Riku pounded it back with his darksaber. It flew through the air like a giant pendulum and picked up speed as it hurtled toward Donald and Goofy. “Keep it at bay, guys!” shouted Sora, and Goofy winked, bouncing it to Donald with a smack of his shield, and Donald shot it with a blast of fire to bring it shoot it back to Sora. The Heartless roared in anger as it tried to bowl Sora over with its arm, while the snake for its other arm shot blasts of fire, giant scorching tongues of hell melting the snow as the sped for Sora. Sora leapt in the air, calling the cue as Haerthos shot to him with his flash-pants, throwing a portable personal shield in the air, instantly creating 360 degrees of invulnerability, dissipating the flames the instant Sora called, “Reflect!” Shooting through the flames like a bowling ball through plastic pins, he dealt one fell blow to the black orb, sending it spinning around again like a pinball in a machine. But as the shadowy ball flew through the air, they failed to notice the Heartless’s back tentacles snaking themselves into the snowy ground, burrowing like worms into the barren Earth. Kairi shouted encouragement to the others, firing her pistol at the orb whenever it came too near, jumping up and down, oblivious to the quaking of the Earth that began beneath her feet. Suddenly Sora and the others heard a scream that shot through the battle like a blade through the air, and they spun around to see seven, long black tentacles shooting up from the ground like weeds on dope, instantly wrapping themselves around her body, pinning her gun to the ground and cutting her scream short with a thick tentacle to her mouth. “KAIRI!” Riku and Sora shouted, leaping toward in an instant joint limit attack, a glowing aura shining around them. Sora leaped off Riku’s hands and slashed 360 degrees around himself, clearing the path for Riku, who then leapt to follow him, blasting the ground with his V2, creating explosions of purple flames whenever tentacles shot up from the ground. He caught Sora’s back hand slash, wrapping his fingers around the Keyblade’s metal shaft, and flipping himself over as Sora hurled him into the mass of tentacles swarming Kairi, hacking and slashing as he blasted the oncomers with his dual wielding V2 and darksaber. Sora landed cat-like on the ground, and leapt up to join Riku, but suddenly a fierce blow struck him in the back, creating an odd sensation as it spread throughout his body, making him quiver as he turned his head to see what had struck him. But his head was stuck, like a mouse in a mousetrap, and he couldn’t move a muscle. All he could do was watch with horror as the light disappeared, the last thing he saw being Riku’s pale and horrified face as he was slowly absorbed into the shadowy orb, a dark sun slowly pulling him into an eternal night… Sora looked around in wonder as he stared at the heavenly palm branches the Destiny Islands. How in the world did he get here? he wondered silently, slowly walking along the golden sands of the beach, I was fighting that Heartless with Riku, wasn’t I? “Wait a minute,” he thought aloud, his voice echoing around the empty beach, mocking him as they reverberated around the silent beaches, “What am I doing here? We still have a job to do!” What was it again? he thought to himself, the waves lapping silently against his feet, We had to do something important before we came back…Oh well, he thought, staring around at his home paradise, all thoughts about whatever happened before receding as fast as the waves, putting his hands behind his head and smiling up at the sapphire blue sky, I guess I’ll just have to find a way to get back… “Why bother?” asked a voice behind him, and startled, Sora spun around to see Riku, standing quietly on the golden sands, staring out at the blue ocean, the wind blowing itself through his shining silver hair. “Riku,” he gasped, relieved that someone else he knew was on the islands, “How’d we get here? We have to go find the others and help them!” “Help them with what?” asked Riku, looking confused as his eyes glanced at Sora for a second and then stared back out into the sapphire ocean. “You don’t remember?” said Sora, exasperatedly, his eyes widening with shock, “We had were going to fight that Heartless and rescue Ira! And then we have to take care of that Ultima thing…” Riku sighed and turned to face Sora, his blue eyes fixed on him like sapphire blue headlights. “Sora,” he said, seriously, staring distantly into the vast ocean, “Do you remember five years ago when it first started? When we sat here, on this beach, innocent and free, planning our escape of this realm, wishing with all our hearts that we could escape from this eternal prison we called home?” Sora was silent, but his eyes reflected the truth that he remembered that fateful day… the day when the Heartless first came to the island and took all their childhood away from them… the day they became the warriors of light… the day the weight of all worlds existence fell upon their shoulders… “You do remember…” whispered Riku, closing his eyes and feeling the wind on his face, before turning to face Sora, his eyes shining with irrepressible feeling, “You remember the day when that thing appeared in your hand, and told you what you had to do! You remember the day when the sky turned black as the depths of the darkest ocean, and the pale sand flitted with the shadowy Heartless! You remember the day when you became the Keyblade Master… yet you also became the servant...” Sora twitched uncomfortably as Riku continued his tirade. “Did anyone ASK us if we wanted to be responsible for all the worlds?” shouted Riku, kicking sand into the water fiercely and looking back at Sora, “Did anyone think to consider OUR feelings and OUR desires? What if we didn’t want to be Keyblade wielders? Why can’t the worlds just stay safe for once? Why can’t we make the Keyblade do what we want, instead of following its every order?!?” “Riku,” said Sora weakly, putting his hand on his shoulder, “No one asked us too. We were chosen. We have been given a great honor. You know how many people have tried to get the Keyblade. It is something most would die for! We can’t just throw away the safety of all worlds like this. I’m not even sure I can use it other then what it’s made for” “I know a way…” said Riku blankly, and he turned and walked up the beach to the leafy palms and to the bushy area of the Island. Sora looked at him confused before following him, instantly recognizing the way to the secret place. It had been so long… He brushed aside the dense shrubbery covering the entrance and stared around at the familiar stone walls of their childhood secret place. It was untouched, exactly the same as it had always been, the white drawings carved for eternity on the pale grey walls, as if marked by angels on a sacred pilgrimage. “It’s just like it used to be…” he whispered, his hand tracing over the celestially white drawings, as an archeologist traces of over the remnants of an ancient past, “I’d almost forgotten how beautiful it is…” He turned around to look for Riku, be he had disappeared, and his eyes instead fell on the drawing he and Kairi had drawn together, the one where he had drawn himself giving her the paopu fruit… He knelt down beside, his fingers tracing over it like a pencil traces across paper, feeling the gentle coldness of the stone wall and the slight chalkiness where the drawings took place. Everything seemed so perfect, not a single thing out of place… Wait a second, where was Kairi? Sora jolted up as he stared down at the incomplete drawing, the warm feeling of being home shattered by the sudden realization that it was just him in the drawing below, a smiling face of a boy with his hand outstretched to blank stone wall, no Kairi in sight… “She left, Sora,” said a Riku’s voice behind him, and Sora turned to face him, a terrible fear coursing through his body, sticking in his throat like some miniscule Heartless. “What?” he choked, his throat constricting like a python around his neck, “What are you talking about Riku? Where’s Kairi?” “She was fed up with always being the damsel in distress,” said Riku, his eyes serious and shining with blue light, “She was tired of always having to wait for you, Sora. Tired of waiting for endless days for you to come back, always unsure if you’d turn to the darkness, or find some other girl out in the other worlds.” “But we made a promise,” said Sora, his words cracking as his eyes filled with fear and hope that Riku was making a joke, “We said we’d wait for each other, no matter how long it took. We made the same promise after we beat Xemnas, and during the war. We promised!” Sora was close to hysterics now, but Riku just looked at him scornfully. “Some promises are empty as the Nobodies,” he said, turning and looking at the sunlight dancing on the ancient door jutting out of the stone wall, “Kairi said she would come back once you stopped playing the hero and did something for yourself for once.” “But the Keyblade chose me…” whispered Sora, his eyes reflecting the final attempt to see the light, “What about all the people we helped? What about the Heartless?” “Screw them,” said Riku bluntly, “As for the Keyblade… I know a way to get rid of that curse for good and turn it into something more…” “Curse?” said Sora, nervously, summoning the Keyblade with a flash and staring at it, the silver shaft and golden handle gleaming in the shifting sun beams. Suddenly it looked menacing, the keychain, clinking darkly as it moved in the wind, as if an invisible hand was touching it. “Come one Sora, get real,” said Riku, angrily, “This thing has taken away your life! Your dreams, your home, and now… your love…” Sora stared down at the Keyblade, his eyes shining, welling up with silver tears, ready to let loose the torrent of water to come. “Oh, so now, you’re going to cry about it,” sneered Riku, looking distastefully at the despairing Sora, “You were always a sappy one. Well instead of crying why don’t you do something about it!?” Riku summoned his Keyblade with a flash of darkness, and pointed it at the wooden door, a swirling sphere of white energy spinning around the end of his Way to the Dawn Keyblade like a maelstrom of spiraling light, wrapping itself around the end of the Keyblade like a silver mesh glove, trying to choke the life out of a invisible head. A shining beam of light shot out of the Keyblade like an arrow, piercing an invisible spot on the door and suddenly something behind the door clicked, and it slowly creaked open, a shining slimmer of light sneaking out from the gap between the door and the wall. When Sora saw what was inside, he gasped. It was the most amazing thing he’d ever seen! A swirling vortex of energy, with violent, crimson, emerald, sapphire, and ebony energy rays swirling around inside a empty black pit, crackling with power and sending up little sparks of rainbow colored energy when a breeze from the door drafted down. “The Heart of Destiny Islands,” whispered Sora, as he stared down into the bottomless pit of energy, the maelstrom and swirling masses of unlimited power reflected in his eyes, “I’d always heard, but I never imagined it would be so beautiful…” “Unlimited power lies within that abyss,” said Riku softly, pulling Sora to the edge of the door and staring down at the shining sparks that leapt and danced like they were locked in a sensual dance, “Power greater then light, power greater then darkness. Power greater then the mighty Keyblade…” Sora stared down at the pit, and then back at the Keyblade, looking unsure. “Riku, the heart of any world must not be touched,” he said, standing and staring down at the endless mass of power and energy, almost feeling its sizzling force coursing through him, “We now that now and we can’t interfere with it. You shouldn’t have even opened it! No one has been able to even go near the power!” “Those people weren’t chosen by the Keyblade,” said Riku, pointing to the Keyblade still clutched in Sora’s hand, “It’s time to get some spine and use that thing for yourself for once. Hurl it down into the depths and it will absorb that power like I was absorbed into the darkness.” He smiled fiendishly and stared down into the depths of the Heart. “And once you summon your Keyblade into your hand, all that power will flow into your body, making you the most powerful being in all worlds! You would be able to take on that Ultima like it was a common Creeper! You would be so powerful Kairi would come crawling back to you, pleading with you to forgive her and promising she will never leave again! She will love you again, Sora. And then you and her can do whatever you wish… Without having to obey the Keyblade’s rules, and without having to worry about the ‘fate of all worlds.’” He spat the last words with contempt, and he looked forward as the lob of spit fell slowly down into the abyss, sparks leaping to it like frogs on a fly, and soared through the air before slowly revolving with the spiraling mass, now forever a part of the never ending swirl of energy lying beneath Destiny Islands, indistinguishable from the rest of the mass of power that had lain there for eternity. Sora stared down at the swirling mass of power, the disco of colors reflecting off his eyes like a mirror, and he stared down, his eyes hardening at Riku’s every word, his blue eyes slowly darkening as he stood from where he knelt at the edge of the abyss, his heart pounding like hammer on anvil in his chest. Of course he was fed up. He had been fed up from day one! He was tired of playing the hero, always having do the right thing, ALWAYS having to follow the rules, and ALWAYS having to chase after the bad guys like they would never stay still! And Kairi, he thought venomously, She ought to be grateful I come chasing after her all the time, and then she goes and gets herself lost somewhere else! I should be the one telling her to come back when she’s grown up a little! He grew angrier and angrier, his heart filling up with rage as he stared down at the abyss of energy. Suddenly with all the strength he could muster, he screamed and hurled the Keyblade down into the abyss, the silver and gold weapon tumbling through the air until it fell into the mass of energy, sparks flying up to it and sinking into its metal surface, rainbow colors instantly dancing on its shaft and handle. He grinned with triumph as he felt raw power begin seeping into his body via the connection with the Keyblade. Oh, he felt bad… but it felt good. It felt as if he had suddenly given in to something deep inside him that had been clawing its way out since the beginning of his adventure. He had felt it many times during his adventures, but now it was fully unleashed. The only time he had felt this good was when he turned into Anti-Form during his second quest, but that was at random. This was real and it felt a thousand times better. He recognized the feeling, and for once it didn’t disgust or repeal him. It was an open heart to darkness. And his heart was loving every second of it. He stared down at the Keyblade burning with energy, and his spiky hair grew even spikier as he grew more powerful, auras of energy emitting from his body, his eyes hardening further and retaining only a bluish tinge of their former elegance. His nails cut deeply into his skin as he stared down at the Keyblade, now white hot with infinite energy. Yes… he could feel it… this would bring all he had been denied as a human back to him… a home, a life, and a love… Yes, there was no doubt in his mind that he deserved this, and with all his heart it was all he could do to not summon the Keyblade now and draw out the energies that would make up for his abysmal existence. But he waited until the Keyblade burned his reddening eyes with its light, and Riku himself couldn’t stand the burning rays emitting from the Keyblade, the shining energy emitting from the infinite pit below shining with violet, crimson, and emerald beams of energy. “Now,” shouted Riku, shielding his eyes from the violent rays of energy, “Summon the Keyblade and take revenge on everyone that screwed up our lives! Take the unlimited power, and take down all that oppose us! Take down the Ultima, take back Kairi, and take control of what’s left of your sorry life!” Sora reached out a hand spinning with tendrils of dark material, and he smiled a toothy smile, oddly not so unlike the cheesy grin he often smiled before, and spread his hands, ready to summon the Keyblade to him. But then a blinding flash of light hit his eyes and he cried out in pain as the light shone all around him, cutting off his view of the Keybylade and anything else. All he could see was a dim outline of a figure standing in the brightness, a woman by the look of it. At first for a wild moment he thought it was Kairi but then when the voice shouted out, it wasn’t Kairi’s voice, but another’s… “Remember the light!” Sora blinked once and the light was gone, but the voice rang in his head like a bell, every clang ricocheting off the walls of his brain, mocking his stupidity and opening his eyes to the world around him. He stared down at his outstretched hand, the fingers spread, ready to summon the Keyblade to him, and he turned around slowly, his blue eyes staring fixedly at Riku, who stared at him quizzically. “What are you waiting for?” he cried angrily, pointing his Keyblade down at the Keyblade, now so bright it seemed like it would incinerate on itself at any second, “The Keyblade will overheat soon and be destroyed! It’ll become a permanent part of the Heart of all worlds, and you won’t be the Keyblade Master any more!” “I threw the Keyblade down there,” said Sora calmly, his spiky hair calming down to its normal size, “I deserve whatever consequence for my actions.” Riku looked stunned but then recovered quickly, and tried to convince Sora to summon it quickly. “But what about Kairi?” asked Riku angrily, “Are you just going to throw her away?” “Kairi would never break her promise,” said Sora icily, his eyes matching his cool tone, “I’d think you would remember that, Heartless…” Riku’s eyes widened, for a second, but then they returned quickly to their normal pale blue. “Heartless?” he asked confused, summoning his Keyblade casually, “What are you talking about Sora? It’s me Riku. You and me are best friends…” “Friends enough to rule the world together?” laughed Sora, walking slowly up to Riku, “I see the truth now. I know what the real Riku was trying to warn me about. You aren’t Riku, you’re Ira’s Heartless! And you bend yourself to our deepest temptations. You’re taking the form of my temptation to use the Keyblade for chaos instead of light, for darkness instead of goodness, and to use it to get what I want! Well it’s not going to work Heartless. Riku beat you and so can I!” Sora balled his hands up into fists and raised them in an offensive position, and Riku looked at Sora with whole new eyes. And not just metaphorically, his eyes were literally changing, from their pale blue to a sick, glowing, yellow, twin suns in a face becoming as dark as the night sky. “You always weren’t very bright,” whispered Riku, his silver hair blowing menacingly in some invisible wind, “It took Riku half as long as you to figure it out. Of course the darkness Riku alerted him to my presence faster then you ever noticed on your own… But still, it was always hard to find temptations in warriors of light…” “You’ll pay for what you did, Heartless,” whispered Sora, his eyes blazing with raging fire, and Riku Heartless laughed with a cold, hard laugh. “There,” it said smoothly, with overlapping sections of voice, “Feel the anger inside you. Turn to darkness like you did before… It is the only way to defeat me… Riku knew that when he attacked, and you should learn the same…” “No!” shouted Sora, his nails biting into his hand as his fists glistened in the energy’s light, “I don’t need the darkness! I have light!” “Yes…” whispered Riku Heartless, his glowing yellow eyes shining beneath his closed eye lids, “Denounce darkness… Denounce your friend… Denounce all that dwell with him…” “Riku doesn’t belong in darkness any more!” shouted Sora, running toward the Heartless, his fist raised behind him, ready to send it flying into the foul Heartless’s jaw, “He belongs to light!” “And where do you belong?” whispered Heartless Riku, easily sidestepping the miserable excuse for a punch, and laughed as Sora went tumbling past him, “The Keyblade is about to be destroyed by the infinite energy of the Heart of this world. And once it does, you will be nothing. You are nothing without the Keyblade. Don’t you remember it from your first adventure? Fighting off Heartless with a toy sword? Maybe you should go play hero with that instead…” He mimicked the last words the exact same way Riku had done it before, and Sora screamed, turning around to lunge at Heartless Riku again. “YOU’RE NOT RIKU!” he shouted, leaping at Riku with his fist pulled back, ready to let loose a blast of magical power, but Riku caught his hand and flipped him over his head, sending him stumbling backward, before Riku slashed at him with a follow up strike, and Sora screamed as he was slashed backward, the Keyblade cutting into his skin through his clothes, a thin bloody line widening as he tumbled backward through the door, and he screamed a final time as he fell down into the abyss of endless energy. Heartless Riku smiled a fanged smile and walked to the edge of the abyss. Sora was clinging by his fingers to the edge of the door, gasping as he stared up at the malevolent Heartless. Riku smiled and slashed at Sora’s sweating fingers with his Keyblade. Sora gasped as one of hands was forced off, the pain stinging through his body like the poison of some deadly spider. “No Haerthos to save you with magic tricks here,” whispered the Heartless Riku, his yellow eyes glowing with unmatched venom, “My powers cut him off from your Keyblade. You’re all alone…” “I’ll never be alone,” whispered Sora through gritted teeth, “The others are still fighting you, and they will beat you. Even if I lose, they will still fight! And one of them will find a way to beat you and take down your monstrous powers!” “Such noble words!” whispered Riku, his Keyblade flashing with the yellow light of his Hearless eyes, “Yet none of them can help you now. Once you have fallen, the others will too. One by one they will succumb to their deepest temptations, each time making me stronger and stronger. Until I have taken them all, and then I will go after Haerthos… Ahh, sweet Haerthos…” Riku looked up into the ceiling with an evil smile, and for a split second, Sora could have sworn he saw a tall, beautiful woman standing before him, but it vanished and Riku turned back to him, placing his foot on Sora’s last remaining hand, slowly applying pressure as Sora gasped with pain. “I’ll take down Kairi first,” whispered Riku quietly, his Keyblade glinting with his own power, “Her innocence draws me strangely. It will be amusing to watch her squirm…” Sora stared up at Riku, his eyes suddenly burning with fire so strong that Heartless Riku almost felt uncomfortable as he brought his foot crashing down on Sora’s hand, and smiled as he listened to Sora’s cries of rage as he fell down into the eternal abyss of energy that was the Heart of Destiny Islands… -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay that was the next update. | Team 29 on the line... | OKay here's the next update. Sorry it took me so long, but I had a lot of hmwk to do. It's not the longest one I've written, but it does continue the seemingly to never end battle against this Heartless. If it takes this long to beat up the Heartless, how long will it take to beat up the Ultima? Here it is. Hope you like. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sora was falling, deeper and deeper into to shining abyss of flaming energy. The sparks leapt around his dropping form like embers around a fire, and he screamed in agony as they were absorbed into his skin, each spark transforming his skin to the same multi-colored aura of energy that made up the great mass of eternal power that was the Heart of Destiny Islands. He gasped with agony, his hands flailing as he tried to grasp the sides of the bottomless abyss, but his fingers scraped the rock hopelessly, each passing second a blast of pain as his very being was absorbed into the Heart. He breathed heavily as his fingers fell from the wall in his last attempt to pull himself out, but the tendrils of energy wrapped around him and pulled him deeper and deeper into the pit of his homeland, the thing he had tried so hard to save in the past was now destroying him… “Riku…” he whispered, his eyes squinting in pain as he felt the wracking pain shoot through his body, “I’m sorry… I wasn’t strong, like you… Please… keep them safe…” He let his fingers slip away from the side of the wall, and he went limp as the energy swept over him, consuming his body, heart, and soul until he would become just another part of the eternal energy that swung through the depths of Destiny Islands… “Sora!” whispered a voice, and Sora wearily turned his head, but the pain hit again and he arched his back in pain as his skin shone with the rainbow hues of the Heart of the world, “Sora, it is not over yet… You are not alone…” “W-what?” whispered Sora hoarsely, his fingers trailing as they began to dissolve into the energy swirling around, but his mind suddenly went as limp as his body, the very brain cells in his head merging with the energy, and he struggled to maintain consciousness. “W-wha… what… alone…” “Look inside… and let yourself become another…” the voice faded into the distance, or perhaps Sora just couldn’t hear it anymore, but with the last fading thought he knew the voice was right… He sighed a final breath of release and willed with the last particle of thought he possessed to let loose his body, heart and soul, letting his consciousness leave his body, feeling himself dissolving into the infinite energies, whispering with his last bit of consciousness, “Good luck, guys…” Ira’s Heartless laughed as Riku, and stared down at the writhing form of Sora as he dissolved slowly into the energy maelstrom deep inside the pit. Destroying Sora piece by piece was a process it enjoyed immensely. Even as its heart lay corrupted by darkness, it felt some unnatural arousal at destroying an innocent boy, taking his defenses down piece by piece until he was naked under her powers, ready to extract the one thing Heartless have the quenchable urge to take. And once he was absorbed into his own temptation, she would take his heart, and become even stronger! She would take his heart and use it to take the hearts of his friends, and eventually Haerthos, and fulfill the eternal craving she had as a result of Haerthos’s failure… She would have her revenge… But suddenly the pit below her erupted in an explosion, and she gasped and stepped backward as a rising bulge rose from the center of the maelstrom of power, rising as fast as the fear in her corrupted heart was growing. She stepped back in Riku’s form, raising the Keyblade in sudden and strange fear as a figure slowly rose from the maelstrom of power, the small form with a foreboding shadow on its shoulder causing unwarranted fear as she stared at the silent figure as it rose from the pit and landed softly on the edge of the abyss, the shadow leaping from its shoulder and landing soundlessly on the ground. “Who are you?” whispered Ira’s Heartless frantically with Riku’s voice, her bright yellow eyes matching the fear in her voice, “You can’t be Sora? You should have been absorbed into the Heart!” “Not Sora,” whispered the boy, turning his head up, his bright blue eyes shining under the spiky brown hair he sported and Ira’s Heartless instantly thought it was Sora. But there was something different about him…Maybe it was the empty look in his eyes as he stared at her, reflecting some inner emptiness within, or maybe it was the emotionless way he drew two Keyblades from the air, one shining pure white, and the other a shadowy dark black. But it was something else that struck her the moment his eyes flashed with the summon of his Keyblades. “You don’t have a heart!” she gasped, stepping backward in Riku’s body, “I can sense it. What are you?” “Nobody,” answered Roxas simply, and he charged at Heartless Riku, his dual Keyblades flashing as the tiny shadow Heartless charged after him. Heartless Riku growled, and swung its Keyblade up to meet Roxas’s dual ones. Roxas spun in a 180 jump, slashing backwards as he spun around the Heartless, leaping off the roc wall to slash two horizontal swipes at Heartless Riku, but she blocked the dual strikes with Riku’s Keyblade, and back flipped in the same movement, sending her foot shooting up into Roxas’s stomach. Roxas doubled over in pain, crashing into the ground, as he flew over Heartless Riku, yet not uttering a single cry of agony. He was incapable of pain. He felt nothing. He was nothing. Roxas leapt up at once, and jumped toward the Heartless, spinning his Keyblades in a synchronized figure eight and Ira’s Heartless smiled, anticipating such a move. But suddenly she dropped her guard she screamed with pain, the small Shadow Heartless sinking its miniscule fangs into her skin. “Traitor!” she screamed, grabbing the Heartless by the small antennas and hurling it into the wall, but she realized her mistake too soon as she felt the slamming pain as Roxas’s Keyblades crashed into her body, slashing at her again and again as she tried to regain her balance, every smashing blow sending her sprawling again. “NO!” she screamed, blasting a shadowy sphere of energy from her hand and shooting it at Roxas as he spun his Keyblades in pinwheel formation, trying to knock off his torrential rampage, but the small Shadow Heartless leapt into the air and let the shadowy orb blast into it, absorbing the blast like a sponge and wrapping itself tightly around her head. “GET OFF ME!” she screamed, trying to raise her hands to pull it off but Roxas slashed again and again at her with the Keyblades, forcing her back as she whimpered in pain, the dual Keyblades hitting from every angle conceivable, hacking and slashing at Riku’s form, the Keyblade lying forgotten on the ground. “Please…” she whimpered in Riku’s voice, the utter helplessness reflecting in her shaking voice, “Think of what Sora would want. You owe him your life, and he wouldn’t want you to kill me… He would want you to be merciful.” “He would want me to spare Riku,” snarled Roxas, pausing for a second before swing his Keyblades behind him so they crossed behind his back, the energy of nothingness seeming to make the air shimmer with power, “But you’re not Riku.” Ira’s Heartless screamed as Roxas swung the Keyblades forward with scream, Oathkeeper and Oblivion seemingly scraping the air with their screeches, before they slashed forward, creating an invisible X in the air where they crossed, a single infinitesimal moment where time seemed to lie still, each second growing as the Heartless stared down at Riku’s body, apparently untouched before she looked up into the yellow eyes of the Shadow still clinging to her head. Suddenly she felt the darkness lift from her face and the shadow Heartless lift from her eyes, and she saw finally that Roxas was staring at her with those blank blue eyes. And then he smiled. And then it hit. Ira’s Heartless screamed as the slashing blows hit her, cutting a giant red X along Riku’s torso, slashing open his vest and sending him flying, shooting backward until she felt herself fall into empty space. She stared down through her agony and realized where she was falling. Screaming she grappled at the sides of the pit frantically, but it was no use. She grimaced through the pain as she fell into the bottomless pit of energy that was the Heart of Destiny Islands. She had lost another one… Roxas and the shadow Heartless stared into the pit for a second, before they turned to each other and nodded. “Thank you for your help, Heartless,” said Roxas blankly, reaching out a hand to shake the Heartless’s tiny claw. The Heartless responded by wiggling its frail tentacles and leaping into Roxas’s arms. Roxas smiled a rare smile. For a second he felt like he had a heart… A whole, complete, being instead of an empty shell… He smiled sadly for a second, and then stared at the small Heartless in his arms. “Guess we better go home,” he whispered and the Heartless nodded slightly, and they closed their eyes the light shining around them in an aura that shone with unmistakable glory. The light shone until they were dark silhouettes, two shadows standing in the light, until suddenly there was a third figure among them, the dark silhouette of a tall woman, smiling down at the two figures before whispering as they vanished into the light. “Well done…” “There he is!” the King shouted as Sora’s body fell out of a shadowy hole in the sky like a rock falling reverse from a pond, the ripples spreading inward as he fell from the shadowy gap in the air before landing softly on the snow. Riku slashed at the Heartless’s attacking tentacles and leapt forward to tend to Sora. “Sora!” he shouted, shaking Sora’s shoulders, “Come one Sora, wake up!” Sora groaned slowly and opened his eyes. Riku was standing over him, sweating despite the coldness of the snow beneath them, his blue eyes narrowed in worry. Kairi was running toward them, bullets ricocheting off the tentacles as she kicked, blasted and punched her way over to Sora. Donald and Goofy were slowly backing toward Sora, blocking and counterattacking tentacles along the way, and the King and Wyrda were keeping the Heartless distracted as the others regrouped to where Sora lay still. “Ohh, my head,” groaned Sora, standing up slowly before turning on Riku, “You could’ve told me that the Heartless exploited your deepest temptations before I got sucked in there! Do you know how close I came to taking the power of Destiny Islands?” “I’m sorry,” said Riku, seriously, brushing the snow off Sora’s shoulder pads and looking him in the eye, “I was trying to before Kairi got attacked. I was hoping you would resist the temptation and you did! You proved yourself once again Sora.” Sora smiled softly and his eyes forgave Riku, and Riku saw that. Smiling, he helped Sora to his feet, and turned around and summoned his darksaber in a flash of darkness, staring at the raging Heartless. Sora cautiously summoned his Keyblade, apprehensive at that taste of infinite power he had felt in the Heart of Destiny Islands, but as he summoned the Keyblade he only felt the same energetic feeling he felt when he always summoned it. Haerthos said something about it being the instant adrenaline replenisher that was installed in the Keyblade. Sora preferred to think of it as magic. He leapt forward with Riku and they charged toward the Heartless, which had stumbled in pain, further weakened by Sora’s defeat of his own temptations. But suddenly it grew even bigger, each tentacle now the width of a small tree trunk, lashing about like a mass of writhing snakes, each tentacle suddenly splitting shining white scars all over their masses. To Haerthos’s horror, each scar slowly opened up to reveal a blood red eye, each one turning to face them, the long tentacles each sporting a good fifty scarlet eyes, each one staring around at the party of stragglers. “Then again, maybe you should have lost,” whispered Riku, charging up his V2 and leaping into the air, with Sora close behind. The King leapt to the ground, somersaulting backwards before Wyrda launched him back in the air, slashing in a whirlwind pattern as the eyed tentacles tried to wrap themselves around him. Kairi fired round after round at the tentacles that tried to come near her, running with Donald and Goofy as the trio fought off the tentacles that tried and catch them. Haerthos leapt in the air as he followed Sora, his flash-pants aiding in his speed, and he sped past Sora, letting loose a giant spray of liquid nitrogen as a tentacle headed for Sora’s back. The tentacle froze in place like a grotesque statue, and Haerthos grabbed it, flipping around it like it was an Olympic bar, and hurled himself into the air, letting a torrent of flamethrower down on the Heartless like fire from heaven. The Heartless let out a dull hiss and shot a forest of tentacles in the air to attack Haerthos. “Crap,” he muttered as he fell downward to the waiting forest of tentacles, quickly activating the personal shield so the tentacles bounced off the field of energy, each malevolent eye staring menacingly at him as the rebounded off the shield. But then a flailing tentacle hit in just the right deactivation spot, and the shield cracked like a fishbowl in the hands of an octopus. “Crap again,” groaned Haerthos as the tentacles wrapped themselves around him, each eye staring at him like the many watching eyes of the cameras of the government, “Why do shields have pressure points, anyway?” He tried to reach for his pack, but he couldn’t move a muscle. “Wyrda!” he shouted, swallowing his pride, and calling for the government agent, “A little help would be nice!” Wyrda leapt in the air from the ground, slicing through tentacles like they were butter and hacked at the tentacles surrounding him until they fell away like leaves from a tree. “Thanks,” he muttered, picking up his flamethrower and looking at Wyrda for a second, “I guess all government lackeys can’t be the same.” “Your welcome,” said Wyrda, not speaking more then he had too, they nodded to each other, each side of the government nodding to each other, the convict, and the agent. Suddenly Wyrda’s eyes went wide and he leapt toward the startled Haerthos. “Watch out!” he shouted, pushing Haerthos aside and swinging his lance mightily, but even as Haerthos shouted to him to get away, it was too late. Wyrda swung his lance at the great black orb swinging toward him, but it just stuck inside it like it was putty. He tried to yank his lance out, but that only pulled the dark sphere toward him more, and soon he was stuck too it, every second being absorbed more and more into the shadowy ball. “S-stay back!” he spat out to Haerthos before his mouth got covered in the black sticky substance, “Hmmhmmmhmm hmm hmmm!” “Wyrda!” shouted Haerthos and he leapt to help Wyrda, but the ball swung away like a pendulum, and soon Wyrda was no more then a pinprick in the distance, the tip of his brown trench coat showing in the blackness before he disappeared completely into the realm of his own temptation… -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OKay there it is.
