S/ke/t/c/h/e/s [Namine' one-shot]

This is just a short, squick, simple one-shot I couldn't resist. Rather than CoM, it's based on the KH2 intro video. Expect more from me; I'm contemplating several other various one-shots like this in the near future.

For now, enjoy.

S/k/e/t/c/h/e/s

The world was a closed-in room, white-walled and wrought of blank, impersonal stone. A door lay at one end, which never opened for the girl imprisoned inside but which could be used as an entrance.


//Trapped//


White walls, white floor, white ceiling so far away. Everything was white, down to the simple ivory dress that clad the yellow-haired girl who sat alone in the middle of the room. But even she could not bring life to the bare chamber; she who had long ago seemed to become a statue herself, silent and alone.

White, everything was white, pale as snow and just as cold.


//Let me out//


No, not everything. A few pencils lay in the girl’s grasp, soft colors, it was true, but still showing out in a stark contrast to her surroundings. Without a word, she gently took hold of one and set it to the blank pad of paper in front of her, drawing careful outlines.

Quietly she worked, the scratch of colored pencil against paper no more louder than her breath. And everything melted away for a blessed time, and the world was no longer an unfriendly white room; it was the curve of a sphere outlined in blue, the delicate shading of black underneath.


//Take me away//


Sometimes, her drawing seemed like the only thing that made the Nobody feel as though she truly existed.

She paused suddenly, surfacing back into her room in Castle Oblivion, fingers hesitating over a lavender pencil. Her picture was almost complete.

Soon–


//I want to be whole//


–and just in time.

Naminé looked up as the door opened, revealing the spiky-haired Keyblade Master. He smiled and approached her, expecting a welcome.

She looked down again, knowing what had to be done. The pencil graced the page once more, finishing the final line.

Her drawing came to life, encasing Sora in a pod of clear glass. Eyes wide, his strength already dissipating, he slowly touched the globe, gazing down at the Nobody who he would now trust with his memories.

Goodbye, he whispered, no sound escaping his lips as the word was taken into the arms of silence.

Don’t forget me Sora, Naminé mouthed back.


//Angels in flight//


She couldn’t let him go without saying it, even as she began the process that would hide all recollections of her in his heart forever. Sora fell back into the benevolent air, eyes closing in slumber as he soared through his reconstructing memories and dreamt of repose.

Naminé took one last look at her drawing of him- sleeping and serene. Everything was as meant to be. She closed her pad and shut out the light from the Keyblade Master’s sketched face, wishing him all the peace she could never attain.
