The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

This is based off the game. But theres been twists and turns added in. Like how in the game, his only companion is Ezlo, the Minish Cap. But I'm adding another companion into the story. {You'll find out about her*hint hint* later*its a girl if you didn't catch the hints*}

Prolouge

A long long time ago..........

when the world was on the verge of being swallowed by shadow.........

The tiny Picori appeared from the sky, bringing the hero of men a sword and a golden light.............

With wisdom and courage, the hero drove out the darkness...............

When peace had been restored, the people enshrined that blade with care................

Chapter 1: Two Childhood Friends

The air was crisp. As young Princess Zelda walked to Master Smiths house in the South Hyrule Field, the brezze swept through her hair. The sounds of Smiths work filled the air. He was a sword maker for the king of Hyrule. He was so intent with his work, he didn't notice Zelda in the doorway at first.

"Good morning Master Smith", Zelda greeted.

Smith looked up in surprise at the sound of Zeldas voice. "Goodness me! Princess Zelda! Did you sneak out of the castle and come all this way alone? The minister is sure to be worried about you! You know how he gets!"

Zelda wasn't aloud out of the castle alone, seeing how she was a princess. But she frequantly snuck out to explore. The minister, the Kings right hand man, would surely flip his lid if Zelda was caught outside the castle.

Zelda grinned,"Oh, don't worry about him! He'll be fine. Where's Link? The whole town is bustling for the annual Picori Festival! I thought he and I might go together. Would you mind terribly?", she asked.

The Picori Festival was a special event that only happened every once a year. It was a time for celebration, as the Picori, little sprites that only revealed themselves to children, would come from thier world into the human world, interacting with them until the door to thier world closed agian. So every once a year, the people of Hyrule would pray that the Picori would pay them a visit, for the Picori loved to please the humans, leaving gifts and helping them around the place. They lived in secret though, so it was hard to find them.

Smith set down his tools. He walked over to Zelda around his counter that he was working on.

"Oh, is that what you're here for? Well, Link was up late helping me last night, and hes still asleep......But I do have an errand at the castle....Yes, that should be fine. Link, time to get up!", Smith called.

Upstairs, young Link was asleep in his bed. But he immediately woke up to the sound of Smith calling for him.

"Link, time to get up!"

Link sat up groggily. He threw on one of his green tunics. He peeked into the mirror at the sink, seeing his rumpled yellow hair. He walked down the stairs and into Smiths room.

"Whats up Grandfather?", he asked, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. But after doing so, he found himself face to face with Zelda.

"Woah! What are you doing here?", he asked. Smith walked over.

"Hey! Link! Princess Zelda is here. She'd like to know if you'd join her at the festival.", he said.

Zelda smiled, "Yeah, Link. Come on! Let's go check out the festival together! Master Smith already gave me permission to take you!"

Smith nodded, "Yes. After all, the festival only comes once a year. Go on, have fun!"

Link nodded in response. "Yeah, I'll go!"

"And while you're there, you can do me a favor. I just finished making this sword for the minister at Hyrule Castle. I'd like you to deliver it to him.", he added as he handed the sword to Link. Link placed it in his bag. He had to make sure he didn't lose it. This was to be given to the winner of the sword fighting contest they had at the festival every year. It was already over.

"Don't worry Grandfather, I'll deliver it!", Link said, but was then stopped by Smith.

"Link, while the two of you may be childhood friends, remember.....Zelda is the princess of Hyrule. You watch over her. Don't let anything bad happen to her."

Link opened his mouth to respond, but then Zelda said, "Master Smith, quit worrying! We'll be perfectly safe. Come on, Link! Let's go check out the festival!"

She then grabbed Link by the arm and pulled him out the door. She had already dismounted the steps of the cottage and ran about half way towards Hyrule Town.

"Link! Over here!", she said waving to him. Link followed after, to her continous shouting to hurry up.
