My Brother's Keeper: A Sephiroth Poem

This is an original poem I wrote for school concerning Sephiroth. Enjoy and please comment.

My Brother's Keeper

The sword plunges in, up to the hilt.
A quiet gasp, and the girl stops groping
While her prayer stops, never ending,
Never finishing her plea for peace.
As she dies she says one word,
“Sephiroth.”
My ears prick at that sound, the sound
Of my name long forgotten
In the dark recesses of my mind.
Is it an echo, or a memory?
Is it true and physical reality?

“Sephiroth!”
Reality.
I turn and see my little brother
The failure
Standing, sword drawn in defiance,
Green eyes filled with hate
As he spits out words from his lips,
“Damn you, you bastard!”

Why is he angry?
I’ve only killed the one he loves
He is a failed experiment
Who’s not supposed to express emotions,
So why does he have them?

The girl slide off my murd’rous blade
And silently slumps by my sinister side.
I pay no heed because
My brother is rushing at me
Intent on severing my head
But I stop him with my blade,
The Masamune, long and curved
Like the sickle moon in the dark night.

We are brothers, he and I.
Not through blood
But through science and magic.
Both of us created from the cells
Of Jenova, our glorious mother
Who would destroy this world if she were
One, whole.
He was a failed attempt,
But I am perfection.
My knee length, silvery hair
Billows in the air and over my face
I look into his eyes and see
Anger, sadness, a touch of fear?
Perhaps he fears for his life
As one slash of my blade
Could end it and terminate the
Experiment
“Not yet,”
My mother says, and I don’t understand
In fact, I want to question why.
But I don’t question; I obey.

I kick him in the stomach
And he lands ten feet away.
I am lifted off the ground
By my power. And I look at him again
And insult him with a smile.

As he roars in purest anger
I think inside my twisted head.
Am I my brother’s keeper?
Or am I my brother’s end?
