I actually didn't have a problem with that. I kind of liked it to be honest.

In theory/concept, it wasn't a bad idea at all, but it was executed in the wrong way, and it seemed more like a gimmick than an all-powerful artifact granting the wielder the power to send the worlds into a bloody war.

Not to mention that aesthetically, it looked as though it was thrown together as a last-minute addition.

Well I can't say much on how it was done, since I haven't spoiled myself entirely (saving some surprises for when I play NA BBS) but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't done in the best way.

Plus, the design was a bit... uncreative. It was just
Two kingdom keys and what looked like Ultima Weapon pieces.

To be honest I saw it coming. Can't say I'm bothered by it, just the character's personality and what they've brought to the series so far.

It's the way Nomura's trying to explain it is whats bothering me. Personally I think it would have been better if they had done this:

As I've said in the Xion Hate Club, even though we know Xion, Roxas, and Namine aren't "dead" in that respect, it's still no grounds to bring them back because it undermines the entire point of the series, especially Days and KH2. Ignoring the fact that bringing them back would be a logical mess and would revert Sora to the condition he was in during Days, if they were to somehow find a way around that mess, it'd be a huge ass deus ex machina. By restoring them, you actually sacrifice more, namely any good writing the series had going for it (and you ironically sacrifice the legitimacy and meaning behind XRN's sacrifices). As much as I like Roxas, do I want to see him return? diddly no, that's one giant cop out.

Exactly. By having those characters return, it completely undermines their sacrifices. I'm all for a happy ending, but not one that spits in the faces of the already-existing endings

I agree with you, to a certain extent. But I think there's a difference between saying "so-and-so's a bitch" and "I feel Nomura really screwed up with this character, and this is why." The latter would obviously be much more acceptable than the former.

Still, I would rather focus more on where the series is going as a whole than individual characters, though often the two are inevitably intertwined.

Just now you're complaining about a lack of creativity? I knew from the moment I first saw Vanitas that he would have a face identical to an already-existing character. The desire to create clones is just too strong in this one.

Exactly. Like how they did in CoM or perhaps even better. Sora was superb in CoM. Bring back my CoM Sora SE. >=/
