Default Sharing a Paopu - Corny title, I know :P

Heya. I guess it might be a good idea to post here, mainly at the request of one person, who said the link I gave was too slow, and perhaps I should put it in the Fanfic seciton. So yeah... Like my fanart thread, I'll link to each individual chapter on the first post. Please, please, please leave feedback. It's too big for creative writing, but I wanna still make it the best it can be, and that includes critiques from outside sources. And now, I give you the first chapter, out of the currently thirteen I have posted on the other sites.

Chapter 1

In a vast ocean, a single fruit floated, following wherever the current took it. It was shaped like a perfect star, with a leaf on two of its arms. The only thing that was wrong with it was that a bite had been taken from it, revealing dark orange meat inside. It floated on…

Tenna was an average girl that lived in the coastal town of Cielle, which sold fish and beans to other parts of the world. She had never been off the continent, but she knew that beyond the horizon was another civilization. She knew this because three years ago, she had found broken timbers and tattered sailcloth wash up onto the jetty, where she now sat, remembering. It had been over three years since that event, and she remembered it clearly, when she was at the curious age of fourteen. Had it belonged to a mighty war galley, carrying a hundred armed men? Or a simple raft made by adventurous children? Her blue-hazel eyes glittered.
Look how much time has passed… she thought as she watched the soft low-tide waves lapping at her feet. Tomorrow I’ll be seventeen, and I still remember it… She brushed her brown bangs out of her face. Then something caught her eye.
It was about seven inches long, had five arms and was a strong golden yellow. At first, she mistook it for a starfish, when she noticed the leaves on two of the arms.
No way… she breathed. It was a paopu fruit, found only on the Destiny Islands. She had read that they were the primary recipients of their bean exports, and that most of the beans went to a single household, which was held in the World Record Book for Most Beans Ever Eaten. It was like the owner of the house was obsessed. Not that she had seen people at home who weren’t obsessed with their gardens or their dogs. So, one person was obsessed with beans; big deal. The only thing was she didn’t know where on the map they were. It was probably for the better, since that was the only place to find paopu fruits and they didn’t want them all taken away. She also read that if two people shared one, their destinies would become intertwined. Maybe that’s why so many people want them.
As she reached out to grab the fruit, she noticed someone had already taken a bite out of it. I wonder who did that, she thought, pausing; pondering. Finally, she sank her teeth in, hoping she would get a chance to go on an adventure.

Meanwhile, on said Destiny islands, a group of three friends also watched the sun set. Sora and Kairi sat next to each other on top of a bent paopu tree, Kairi’s head leaning on Sora’s shoulder, his hand around her waist. The two had been a couple for about two years, ever since coming home from the World that Never Was. The third person leaned against the tree trunk with his arms crossed, long silver bangs blowing out of his face to reveal turquoise eyes. Somehow, Riku knew that he would meet someone from across the ocean. He somehow linked this knowledge with the taste of the fruit, which was the best he had ever had in his life.
“Sora,” he said turning his head to his friend, “Do you want to help me build another raft?”
“Huh?” Sora leaned over to get a better look at his friend, causing Kairi to reposition herself on his shoulder. “Where did that thought come from all of a sudden?” He smiled a bit, knowing an adventure was coming.

"I'm getting kind of sick of my mom's beans again..."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~
So tell me what you think, and I'll add more in a bit. I don't wanna overload you with a giant post and you don't wanna read it after the first few boring chapters.
If you don't get the beans reference, it's from 3 Fools and a Microphone on YouTube, if you wanna go check it out. The beginning is silly. XD
Not much I can say at the moment regarding plot, but it seems pretty good as far as style. The only small problem I have with ALL fics similar to this one is the idea of a 15 and 16 year old becoming a 'couple'. But it's not bad at all. 7/10, likely to increase if the plots develops well.
Trust me, the plot has lotsa twists and turns and such. While it was meant to be something like that, it's become more of an action/adventure humor more than romance. But in the beginning and everything, it seems that way, kinda. And it's not 15 and 16... It's 17 and 18... I tried to make it a bit more mature... Though I'll be making fun of the way Kingdom Hearts is serious while keeping in the range of E+10, and random silly RPG quirks. Anyway...
Chapter 2
Sora and Kairi helped with the raft, but Riku, as always, did most of the work. This time, though, he didn’t mind, because he had some sort of eagerness to leave. Maybe it was because he wanted to find out if anyone had found the fruit and eaten it; perhaps his intuition had improved since that last battle with Sora that time. But it had never worked before. Why now, all of a sudden? He stopped thinking about it. If anything, it was an excuse to see the rest of this world, since they had seen so much of others.
Finally, three days later, the raft was complete. It was an improved version, made with gummi blocks from old ships Sora had flown in with Donald and Goofy. Sora flipped the power switch, and it hummed to life, hovering about 6 inches from the ground. There were clear skies for sailing today.
It was a few days after Tenna had found the paopu. She had cut it into pieces and dried them, keeping them in a pouch that hung at her hip, and hoping something would happen, if not right away. She was at the jetty again that morning, looking for jeweled crab shells, when she saw a spot on the horizon, rapidly growing larger. She hurried to the beach, hoping to get the attention of whomever it was that was operating the craft; hoping to steer them away from the rocks.
Even given the speed at which they were traveling, all three friends were surprised to see land so soon. Riku stood on the bow end of the raft; the engines on the stern were propelling them forward at an amazing velocity. Riku was the first to notice the jetty. “Guys, quick! Cut the engines!”
“Huh?” Sora looked up from snuggling with Kairi in the stern when he was shoved aside by Riku, in an urgent dash to save the raft. He hit the switch, and the craft slowed enough so that by the time they hit a giant rock, there was little more than a bit of jarring on deck. “Well, guys,” Riku said, smiling and jumping off immediately, “here we are.”
Tenna heard the crash, and sprinted back to the jetty. “They didn’t see me in time… I hope they’re—” She gasped as she saw the vessel for the first time. It was a multi-colored rectangle with two small flame engines in the rear.. There were two people coming off now, holding hands. The boy had spiky brown hair, puffy black shorts, and giant sneakers. The girl had a pink miniskirt suit on, and donned long, red, layered hair.
She squeaked in shock as a hand grabbed her foot like one would grab a rock they were climbing. She looked down to see that there actually was someone climbing up the rock she was standing on. She had by that point, however, instinctively moved her foot away, and the hand fumbled for a new hold, and a young man’s voice grunted quietly. She reached out to grab the hand, hauling a silver-haired boy by the wrist. Still looking at the ground, hands on knees, he muttered a relieved “Thank you”.
“No problem,” Tenna replied as she saw the others attempt to climb the rocks. “Um,” she called to them, “I can lead you guys to an easier route if you… uh, want…” By the time she had finished her sentence, the spiky-haired boy had leapt up nimbly to where the other boy stood, carrying the girl in his arms.
“Don’t mind him,” she heard the longer-haired boy say, while looking at the couple. “He’s always been a show-off.” He turned his head to face her, finally, grinned as if he found something funny. Tenna gasped at his green eyes, which sparkled brightly beneath slightly-slanted lids. “I’m sorry. I should have introduced myself. My name is Riku, and these…” His words faded out as Tenna’s subconscious repeated his name over and over, her conscious mind filling with his face. Somehow, she managed to get the names of the other two, but she didn’t acknowledge it right away. What brought her out of her stupor was Sora snapping his fingers in front of her face.
“Sora, quit it!” The girl, Kairi, glared at him. “Sorry, he’s being a pest. And you are…?”
“My name is Tenna. It’s nice to meet you all.” She could feel the blood rush to her cheeks. Fumbling in her pouch, glad for a chance to look away and hide her face, she stammered, “Um… did, did any of you, ah, send this?” She finally was able to pull out the dried pieces of fruit.
Riku stood frozen for a second, then snatched the pieces from her hands. “Where did you find this?”
“I found it in the ocean. There was a bite taken—”
You found this? With only one bite take out of it?”
“Just… one…” An awkward pause. “Why?”
Riku was still studying the pieces, which were cut into the five arms, one piece having two places where some of the skin and meat had been taken from it. “I’m guessing you also ate some?”
“Yeah. Why is it such a big deal?”
“I was the one who sent it.” He gave two of the arms back, and studied the scarred one. Tenna held the pieces, dumbfounded. Then, all of a sudden, he smiled. “We might as well finish it” A rush of blood returned to Tenna’s face as he bit into an unmarked arm.
This one's still in the corny stage, but it gets better, I swear! ><
Hey, Sanchay do you mind if I print it on paper so I don't have to sit at the PC and read or do you want to keep it only on the internet?
It's fine if you print it. I do that with a lot of fanfics I read. Don't worry about it. ^_^ Oh, and sorry if I seem spamming when I do things like this...
Chapter 3
"Wow. You went to all those places, and you never visited the continent before?” Sora, Riku, and Kairi were sitting in Tenna’s dining room later that night, with Tenna and her parents, eating filleted fish with bean stew. For some reason, Riku just kept to the fish. She would have to ask him about that later.
Sora and the others left out the part about leaving for other worlds, but made them sound like exotic places on this one, just as a precaution to keep from meddling. The did however, mention Donald and Goofy, and the names of others that helped Sora find his friends, who had been snatched away from Destiny Islands three years before. At the mention of the date, Tenna nearly choked on her stew.
“Three years ago… Did you build a raft three years ago?”
This time it was the group of friends who looked shocked. “Yeah,” Kairi said. Sora and I helped Riku make a wooden raft, but a storm took it away.” She didn’t mention that the storm was really a void made by the Heartless that sucked up their world into eternal darkness.
“I found the remnants of it during that giant storm!”
“But, the wor— Ungh!” Riku elbowed Sora in the stomach before he could reveal that the storm wasn’t really a storm. But the concept still baffled them. How was she able to see the timbers before the world was swallowed up? After a good long look at Sora, giving him visual signals not to say any more, he turned to Tenna’s parents. “Thank you very much for the food. It was delicious.” The others agreed and nodded their heads in gratitude.
“Are you sure you don’t want any beans, Riku? Tenna’s mother asked sweetly, reaching for the ladle.
“No, thank you. It’s alright.” Riku replied with a nervous smile.
“So, Riku and Sora can each have a bed to themselves. I’ll move their occupants to the living room. I’m sure they’ll like it.” The older of two boys, a sulky fourteen-year-old with shaggy brown hair and green hazel eyes, gave his father an expression that seemed to say, “You have got to be kidding.” The younger one, age eight with blond hair and blue eyes, voiced his opinion immediately. “Yay!”
“Tenna’s mother called from another room. I’m getting the baby ready for bed. so try to keep the noise down for a while.”
“Jeeze, how many siblings do you have?” Sora asked, genuinely amazed.
“Just the three brothers.” Sora early had a heart attack.
“Just three, huh?” Riku said, chuckling a bit.
“Well, I admit I’m not into girly stuff because I hang out with so many boys all the time…”
“But are you into boys?” he whispered into her ear, leaning close. Tenna turned beet red at his statement and sudden action, and he laughed. “I guess you are.”
That wasn’t fair!” she shrieked, her face getting redder by the second.
“Tenna, be quiet!”
Tenna lay on her back on the floor n her room, looking at the jewels on her ceiling, taken from the shells of crabs she found. It seemed to make a picture of a boy.
“Did you make that?” Kairi asked form the bed.
“Yeah.”
“How long did it take?”
“About three years.”
“It looks kind of like Riku when he was younger.”
“Really?” Tenna asked in a sugary voice. She quickly cleared her throat and repeated the question in a more normal tone.
“Yeah. I’m serious. Riku’s hair was once that short, and even the colors are really accurate to what he used to wear.”
“Really? I just sort of imagined this picture the day after I found the pieces of the raft. That’s pretty weird.”
“Yeah.”
A slight pause.
“Hey, Kairi?”
“Yes?”
“How come you’re with Sora?”
“What do you mean?”
“How did you two first become a couple, since it’s so obvious you are.”
“Oh, that… It’s kind of a long story, and I don’t think it’s my right to tell it. Ask Sora tomorrow. I’m sure he’ll tell you.”
“Oh. Alright… Good night, then.”
“’Night.”
That night, Tenna had a dream of the boy in her vision growing into Riku, whom she had just met that afternoon.
In a different bedroom, Sora was dreaming of Kairi already. Next door to him, Riku was pondering about the paopu, tossing the bitten piece in his hands idly. She had already had a connection with us before the entire paopu thing. Is she supposed to take a role in an upcoming adventure? Does that also have a connection to the reason I sent the fruit in the first place?
As he pondered, he slipped into the dream realm.
Hee-hee... This story gets very silly very fast. Don't worry about that. Yeah, whenever I try anything serious, it usually breaks down once it gets really developed. Yeah... Um... Onward?
Chapter 4
Things were hectic at Disney Castle. King Mickey didn’t have a moment’s rest since he returned. There was rebuilding to be done, and on top of that, now was another threat. While Heartless and Nobodies had made their share of havoc, there was now a created being that was a combination of the two.
At first, it was thought by their creator that since the Heartless wished for bodies and Nobodies wished for hearts, if they were combined, they would be happy. But it turned out the opposite was true. The two evil forces joined together to make something even more dreadful. To add to the mess, the creations were able to split apart into a sort of clone pair. The lab in which they had been contained was destroyed, and they escaped. They were master to no one, not even each other, but they worked together to overpower their world and others they had made paths to. Disney Castle was beginning to see signs of them.
On a rare break, King Mickey was pacing the library instead of relaxing in the throne room. Presently, there was a knock on the door.
“Enter.”
“Good afternoon, Your Majesty. I thought you might like some lunch.” Goofy, captain of the Royal Knights, opened the door the rest of the way, pushing a tray with a covered dish on top. “I brought your favorite.” With an awkward sweep that ended up looking rather elegant on the clumsy knight, he revealed a sandwich stacked higher than the cover it was under. “Ham, ham, tomato, cheese, ham, tomato, cheese, cheese, tomato, ham, and cheese.”
The king smiled. “Thanks, Goofy. You really know how to cheer a guy up.”
“Gawrsh, Your Majesty, it was nothin’.” Goofy’s nose turned the slightest bit of pink with embarrassment, and he scuffed the floor with one of his giant shoes.
“I’ve got something to tell you and Donald. Do you know where he is?”
“Well, Sire, I think he’s spendin’ the day with Daisy. I don’t think he’ll be back until this evenin’.”
“Gosh. When will that be?” King Mickey asked, looking out of a window he had wandered to.
As if on cue, Donald rushed in quickly, scrambling to close the door in time to keep out a very angry-looking Daisy. Bracing himself against it, he breathed out a ragged, “Hello, Your Majesty…” The door trembled at the impact from the duck on the other side, angry words muffled by its thickness. Raising his staff, the Court Magician locked the handle with magic. Finally sliding into a sitting position, he slumped for a second before adjusting his hat, panting all the while.
“Oh, good, you’re here,” Mickey said, a little surprised, “Would you mind sound-sealing this place?”
Wak?” Donald managed to gasp.
“Oh. Well, I guess you can do it once you catch your breath.”
About a minute later, a slight shimmer decked the perimeter of the room; it was the only sign that the spell had been cast.
“Guys, we’ve got a problem.” Mickey was still pacing, this time in a smaller area. “Demons are attacking.”
“Not Heartless?” Donald wondered.
“Or Nobodies?” Goofy added.
“It’s a combination of both. Flesh-and-blood, just like you and me, a heart just like yours and mine, but a mind so twisted and insane that it can only be described as demonic. This is serious.” He stopped to wring his hands. “You’re gonna have to find Sora and the others. Otherwise, I don’t think things are going to be pretty.”
“Ooh! Pretty!” Sora exclaimed, his face pressed against a store window. He stared at a giant sword, his blue eyes glazed and a huge grin on his face. Kairi was trying desperately to de-plaster him from the glass.
“Need some help?” Riku called to her.”
“It’d be nice,” came her reply.
“Sora, look! A Dusk with a sniper!”
Quickly turning around, Sora whipped out his Keyblade. “Where?!” He immediately glared at Riku with a smile. “Heh. Riku, you’re funny. Dusks don’t have snipers…”
Riku placed a hand on his face. That kid was hopeless without guidance.
“Come on, Sora,” Kairi grabbed his hand before he had a chance to look in the window again.
Tenna came out from a bookstore. “So, how do you like it so far?”
“There’s a bit more variety than on the islands,” Kairi said, a small black handbag slung around her shoulder, bags of new clothes in her hands. “Are you sure your parents are alright with letting us use their munny card?”
Their exact words were: ‘They can spend as much as they like. They’re our guests.’ I’m certainly enjoying this opportunity.” The books she had bought wobbled, dangerously stacked high above her head. “Meep…” She danced around, trying to steady them.
“Here, let me grab some of those.” Riku reached up to get the books that were higher up in the stack.
“N-no, you don’t have to…” she stammered. But she knew it was too late.
“Hm… Interesting choice of reading…” Riku said, smiling. The book at the very top was a romance novel.
“Gah! I’ll carry that one!” Blushing, she tried to take it from him, but he lifted it a few inches higher than her reach. When she tried jumping at it, he moved it sideways. All the while, he was grinning broadly. She was very red now. “Not fair,” she whined, stopping her frenzy of trying to get the book back, now more concerned with hiding her face.
Then, quite suddenly, a red-and-yellow shape shot by overhead.
“Was that what I think it was…?” Sora asked in wonderment.
“Definitely was,” came Riku’s reply. “Let’s go.”
“Hey, I’m the leader!” Sora complained.
“Go where?” Tenna asked.
“Back to the islands,” said Riku.
“Oh. Already?” Tenna felt a bit saddened. “Well, I hope you had fun here. I’ll miss you guys.”
Riku smiled. “What’s all this about missing us? You’re coming too.”
“What?” Before she could protest, he had grabbed her hand and began pulling her along to the raft. “But what about my parents’ munny card?”
“That’ll have to wait!”
Yeah... This one is a bit more interesting, in my opinion... Sora's love for shiny things and semi-lack of leadership, Tenna's bacon-frying blushes... Good times... Oh, and all the completed chapters can be seen on my deviantART account if you don't wanna wait. Thankees! ^_^
Chapter 5
Never before had Tenna been on something so fast. The wind whipped her hair every which way as they sped above the water, and she could barely stand without bracing herself against something. I can’t believe it, she thought happily, I’m actually going to Destiny Islands… I never thought it was possible… Sora and Kairi were already snuggling in the stern – she still had to ask about that – and Riku was sitting cross-legged in the bow section. She staggered over and sat down beside him. “Hey.”
There was a pause before he said, “Sorry for the suddenness of all this…”
“You don’t have to be. I’ve always wanted to see what was beyond the horizon… I just never knew it was the Destiny Islands.”
“Just between you and me, I’d rather not go back.”
“Why?” Tenna asked, I guess anyone could get sick of living in one place all their life, she thought.
“I’ve seen too many other places to think that where I grew up has anything other than great memories.” He closed his eyes and smiled. “That, and I know my mom’s gonna stuff me with baked beans as soon as I get home; if we have enough time to go home, that is. By the way that ship was moving, I think all we’ll have time for is introductions before being on our way.”
Well, that explains the whole situation with dinner… “On our way to where?” Tenna asked, “And what was that ship? You obviously know where it came from.”
“Things will be explained when we get there. I have a feeling they’ll enjoy your company.” Turning to the stern, he called, “Sora! Pay attention! We’re almost there, so cut the engines on my signal.”
“There’s no one here…” Donald slouched wearily. “We searched this entire island top to bottom, and no one showed up.”
“Ya know, Donald, they may come later. We just have to wait.” Goofy came out of a shack on the shore.
Donald kicked some sand in irritation. “Rah! I’m sick of waiting! I wanna go back home and be with Dai—” He paused for a second. “No, never mind. I guess I’ll stay here for a little wile longer…” He shuddered at the memory of the incident at the castle.
“Uhh… Donald, I think ya better come look at this…”
The small gummi raft sped across the shallows and onto the beach, where it collided with the shack Goofy had been in less than a minute before, totally demolishing it. A voice mumbled through the rubble. “You idiot! Can’t you keep your eyes on me so you can see the signal?”
“How was I supposed to know?” another voice responded.
Riku was the first person to emerge from the rubble, pulling Sora behind him by the ear, causing the younger boy to protest loudly.
“It’s Sora and Riku!” Goofy exclaimed.
Told you they would show up sooner or later…” Donald said with a smug grin on his beak.
“But Donald, weren’t you the one who—”
“Hush.”
Letting the argument go before it escalated any further, Goofy asked, “Hey, how’s Kairi these days?”
Sora, his ear finally freed form his friend’s grip, pointed behind him with his thumb at the wreckage. “You can ask her yourself, if you want to.”
A few seconds later, Kairi came out, delicately stepping over splintered boards. Turning back to the hole, she called, “Hey, Tenna, come out and meet these guys.”
“Tenna?” Donald asked inquisitively.
Cautiously, the girl peeped her head around the wood that was still upright. “Uh… hello…” She finally got a good look at the two figures standing on the beach, and couldn’t help but giggle a little bit.
“What’s so funny?” Donald demanded.
“It’s just… You look so cute!” She suddenly exclaimed, running up to the duck and hugging him, despite his thrashing and shrieking. She wrapped her free arm around Goofy, causing him to redden bashfully. “Both of you are!” Letting them go, she said sweetly, “You both know my name now, but may I ask for yours?”
“… Donald Duck…” Donald said, annoyed.
“I’m Goofy. Pleased to meet ya.” said Goofy, bowing in that awkward-yet-elegant way of his. While he was leaning down, he whispered to Donald, “You know, it wouldn’t hurt to be a little nicer to a gal ya just met…”
“Phooey,” Donald whispered back as the knight straightened. He smiled, but made it obvious that he wasn’t enjoying it.
By that time, Tenna had wandered to the ship, poking it. The substance jiggled a bit, but not as much as the fruit molds her mother sometimes made. She squealed with delight, and went to investigate the rest.
“So, what’s happening?” Sora asked, shifting his weight to one foot and placing his hands behind his head, as if in a reclined position.
“We need you to come back with us to Disney Castle,” Donald said.
“That’s all?”
“Well, King Mickey has a mission to give us,” Goofy explained.
“Then let’s go!” Kairi said, suddenly excited.
“Am I coming still?” Tenna called from the other side of the ship.
“Yes,” Riku answered at the same time Donald shouted, “No!” Both of them repeated the other’s statement in question form, Donald’s stance that of a shocked duck, Riku standing with arms akimbo, glaring at the magician.
“Are ya sure this is such a good idea, Riku? Goofy asked cautiously. “That might be mudd… uh, muddle…”
“I’m pretty sure meddling doesn’t matter anymore,” Riku responded. “Too many people already know about it.”
“Yeah, meddlin’! That’s the word!”
I'm going to be making fun of Goofy a lot in this story. While he's sweet and good-natured, it's just so fun. I'm so evil... XD And Donald's mood toward Tenna doesn't much change.
I just realized I didn't put much italic thought speech in many recent chapters... Hoo-boy... Much editing to be done, methinks...
