My brother?” Sky was very confused.

You haven't realized it yet. Caelum is your brother.”

He's my brother.” Sky was shocked. He wanted to deny it, but he knew it was true.

Do you have something to say?” Vergil asked.

Ya. I do.” Sky summoned his Keyblade.

And what would that be?” Vergil summoned his Keyblade, and pointed it a Sky. His Keyblade was a simple design. The guard was a gold triangle, with a circle around it. The blade was silver, and the teeth was a V.The keychain was a long gold chain, and at the end of the chain was a small triangle with a circle inside it.

Sky pointed his Keyblade at Vergil. “If what you say is true. I don't think Umbra would like you hurting his brother.” Vergils face turned pale. “Are you really that scared of him?”

He has every reason to be.” Sky turned around, and saw Umbra. Umbra summoned a corridor of darkness. “Go home Sky.”

    No.” Sky said.

Don't worry Sky, he'll get what he deserves.”

I know what he did, but...”

I wouldn't expect you to understand.” Umbra grabbed Sky, and pushed him in the corridor of darkness. “I'll see you soon.” Then Umbra started towalk toward Vergil. Vergil went to swing his Keyblade at Umbra, but Umbra grabbed it. Umbra kicked Vergil down. Darkness swirled around Vergils Keyblade, then Umbra broke the blade in half. Then Umbra stood over Vergil. “While I was in that prison. I constantly thought about what I would do when I saw you again. And I think I have the perfect punishment.”

    Don't do it Caleum.”

Umbra put his boot on Vergils stomach. Then he summoned his Keyblade, and put it toVergils throat. “Never use that name again!” Umbras Keyblade became coated in darkness. Then he stabbed Vergil, in the chest. Darkness coated Vergils entire body. When the darkness faded, Vergils entire body was black, and he had bright yellow eyes.

What did you do to me?!” Vergil now had a very raspy voice.

You are now the very thing you hate.” Umbra picked Vergil up by the throat. “Fall into darkness.” Then Umbra threw Vergil into the abyss. “One down, one to go.”

Sky appeared at theLand of Departure. He was in the courtyard. Veritas ran out of the castle gates, to Sky.

Sky! Are you okay? What happened?” Veritas asked. Sky didn't say anything.“Sky?”

    Sky told Veritas what happened.

Then it won't be long now.” Veritas said.

Is Umbra my brother?” Sky asked.

    In a sense.”

That's it! I'm tired of the riddles! Just give me a straight answer!”

    You'll find out soon.”

Not soon! Now!” Veritas made a barrier around Sky. “What? Let me out!” Sky started banging on the barrier.

Goodbye Sky.” Veritas walked back in the castle. Veritas walked into the grand hall, and sat in the middle throne. Veritas waited for about an hour. Then Umbra appeared. “I thought you would never show.”

Is there anything you haven't figured out?” Umbra asked.

    Just two things.”

Then ask. I'll consider it your last request.”

How did you escape The Realm of Darkness?”

    You can thank Sky.”

    What do you mean?”

When Sky took his Mark of Mastery Exam, out hearts connected. With that connection I was able to open The Door to Light.”

My second question. What do you plan to do with all that power?”

I will make the worlds whole.”

    How will you do that?”

    By bathing them in darkness.”

And why would you do that?”

Because the light cast out everything it deems unfit. The darkness accepts everything. It doesn’t care who you are, or where you came from. It accepts anyone, regardless.”

Veritas got up, and walked toward Umbra. “The light didn't cast you out. A coward did.”

And you could of stopped all of it.”

    I know, and I'm sorry.”

Don't worry, I promise your death will be swift.”

Are you under the impression, I'm just going to let you kill me.” Both Sky and Umbra summoned their Keyblades.

You know you can't defeat me.”

    But I can try.”

On The Shores of Harmony, Hikari was standing in front of Amelia. The two weres tanding on a beach. Behind the two, there was a field, filled with flowers. Hikari was waiting for her exam to begin. Then Amelia spoke.

Hikari. You have grown stronger, and have proven the strength of your heart. I grant you The Mark of Mastery.”

Hikari was a little confused. “What? I didn't even take the exam.”

I can see how your heart has grown. You have always had the strength to be a Master, but now you have the strength of your heart.”

So that's why you sent me to Veritas.”

Yes. All you needed to do was have a little fun.”

Well that's okay, I guess.” Hikari hung her head.

I thought you would be happier.”

Hikari quickly perked up. “Oh. I'm happy. It's just.”

You want to be with him, don't you.”

    Ya.”

    Then go.”

    Are you sure?”

All I've ever wanted, was for you to be happy.” Amelia walked up, and hugged Hikari. “Now go.” Hikari summoned a corridor of light, and stepped through.

Back at The Land of Departure, Umbra and Veritas continued to fight. Veritas summoned chains, made of light at Umbra. The chains swirled around, and tried to constrict Umbra. Umbra made a wave of darkness, destroying the chains. While Umbra was distracted, Veritas appeared behind him.Veritas' Keyblade became coated in light. He swung his Keyblade, creating a huge wave of light. Umbra couldn't dodge the attack, and he was knocked to the ground. Umbra became extremely angry. He stabbed his Keyblade into the ground, and the floor became coated in darkness. Then darkness started climbing up Veritas' body, completely covering him. When the darkness faded, Veritas was gone. Umbra looked around, but couldn't find Veritas. Then Umbra looked down. The second he looked down, a huge hand made of darkness came up. Behind the hand, was Veritas, and his body was covered in darkness. Umbra barley dodged the attack, but he kept his footing.

    How?!”

    I'm surprised you didn't notice.”

Now well see who's darkness is stronger.” The kept trying to hit each other, but neither could land a hit. Veritas created two clones; one of light, and one of darkness. The clones rushed Umbra. Umbra blocked the attacks, and countered with his Keyblade. The clones had dissapeared, but Umbra forgot about Veritas. Veritas got behind Umbra, and slammed his hand on the ground. Then chains made of darkness, came shooting out of the ground, constricting Umbra. Umbra was completelyr estrained. Then Veritas shot a beam of light out of his Keyblade, into Umbras chest. Umbra let out a loud scream. The chains around Umbra disappeared, and he fell to the ground. Then all of the darkness in the room vanished. Veritas knelled next to Umbra. “How did you beat me?”

Your faith in darkness, is your weakness.” Veritas started to started to stand up, then darkness started to swirl around Umbra. Then Umbra stood up.

Your faith in him, is yours!” Then darkness started erupting from Umbras body, and shooting off into every direction. The darkness created huge gust of wind, that shattered the castle windows. Outside, Sky could see the darkness coming out of the castle. He kept trying to break the barrier, but it was no use. Hikari appeared in the training grounds. She saw the darkness coming from the castle, and raced toward it. When she got to the courtyard, she found Sky.

Hikari tried to scream over the howling wind. “Sky! Whats going on!”

It's Veritas and Umbra!” Then suddenly, the darkness disappeared, and the barrier fell, and the darkness dissapeared. “No.” Sky ran inside the castle, and into the grand hall. There, Umbra was standing over Veritas. Small orbs of light and darkness, were coming off of Veritas' body.

Umbra looked at Sky.“Meet me at place we were born. There, we'll have an ending to things.” Then Umbra disappeared, in a corridor of darkness. Sky ran to Veritas' side.

    Master.” Sky began to cry.

Veritas put his hand on Skys shoulder. “It's okay. Sky you know what you have to do. Only you can beat him.”

Sky tried to talk through his tears. “I can't.”

Yes you can. I believe in you.” Veritas handed Sky his Keyblade. “It's your turn, to change the world.” Sky grabbed the Keyblade, and sat it on the grown. Then the lower half of Veritas', body started to fade.

    Master!”

Lets meet again, in the next life. I'll be waiting.” Then Veritas' body completely faded, into spheres of light and darkness.

I'm sorry Sky.”Sky hadn't noticed, Hikari had walked up behind him. Sky couldn't say anything. “What are you going to do?” Sky was still silent. “Are you going to fight him?”

No.” Sky ran past Hikari, and into the court yard. For some reason, Sky stopped running. Something about the world changed. There was no wind, and the world was completely silent. Then someone, started to appear in front of Sky. The figure started transparent, but eventually became solid. The figure was a women, wearing a white coat, that was covered in black designs, and the hood was pulled up.

Who are you?” Sky asked. The women pointed at the castle. “I'm not going to fight.” Sky tried to walk around, but women stood in his way.“Move!” The women shook her head “no”. “I said move!” Sky summoned his Keyblade, and went to hit the women. The women grabbed his Keyblade, and it disappeared in her hand. Then the women hugged Sky. Then Sky started to cry, uncontrollably. Something about the women, felt familiar.

It's okay, Sky.” The womans voice was soothing, like a gentle breeze.

Sky tried to talk through his sobs. “I should have stopped him.”

Veritas knew what was going to happen.”

    I can't beat him.”

I want you to meet someone.” There was a flash of light. When the light was gone, Sky was on Destiny Islands, except the island looked different. He was on the main island, looking out at the smaller island. The island was had many small houses on it. It was a dark and windy night. There wasn't even a single star in the sky.

What are we waiting for?” Sky asked.

Wait.” Sky waited for a few seconds, and saw a beam of light, coming up from, the smaller island.

    What was that?”

He's not even born yet, and he's already helping others.” There was another flash of light. When the light faded, Sky was on the smaller island, but the island looked diffirent. There were bridges, connecting trees, and pieces of wood supporting some of the larger trees. There was a bridge that connected the island, to the smaller island. Sky wondered how this stuff was built so fast. He looked around, but he couldn't find the women. Sky wanted to look for the women, but didn't see a point in it. His Master had died, and he had to defeat his own brother. He sat on the shore, and began to cry again.

Or you okay?” Sky looked over, and saw a boy. The boy couldn't of been older then nine. He had blue eyes and spiky brown hair. He wore red shorts, with yellow shoes, a white shirt, with a black and gray over jacket. Sky quickly, wiped the tears from his eyes.

    I'm fine.”

You don't look okay. Is there anyway I can help?”

No. I don't think anyone can help me.”

What do you have to do?”

Everyone's expecting me to do something really important, and I don't think I can.”

    You can do it.”

Sky was shocked.“What do you mean?”

If your friends think you can do it, then you must be able to. Your friends wouldn't ask you do something if they knew you couldn't.” The statement made everything click, for Sky. Veritas believed in him, and so did Hikari.

Thanks.” Sky took off his crown necklace, and put it around the boys neck.“Someone very important to me gave this to me. Take care of it for me.”

If its important, why are you giving it to me?”

That's the only kind of gift worth giving.”

    Thank you. I'm Sora.”

    Nice name.”

    SORA!” Yelled two childrens voices.

Oh! That's myf riends. I hope everything works out okay.”

Thanks.” Sora ran around the island, out of sight. The women appeared beside Sky.“Whoa!”

That boy will have terrible things happen to him. He will lose friends, he will lose his memories, and bear unimaginable torment. And he will do it all, for the sake of his friends.”

Some kid.” There was another flash of light. When the light faded, Sky was at The Land of Departure. He was standing in the court yard, with the strange women.

Are you ready to face him?” The women asked.

    Yes. For my Master.”

Do you know why he fights?” Sky didn't know what to say. He never thought about things, form Umbras point of view. “Let me show his pain.” She put her hand on Skys chest, and he instantly fell to his knees. He felt all of Umbras anger, hate, and sadness. “He fights because that is all he knows. He has never been shown love, or mercy.”

Why did you show me all of this?”

Mothers are suppose to guide there children.” Then the women disappeared. Sky finally understood Umbra. Even after all that Umbra did, Sky still felt sorry for him. Sky stood up, and walk into the castle. He walked to Veritas' room. He went to a closet, and put on one of Veritas' white coats. The coat instantly fit to Skys body. His clothes turned white, and his shorts turned to pants. Then he noticed a box, on Veritas' desk. He opened the box, and found a fingerless metal glove, and a letter. The glove was silver, with gold trim around the base and finger, and a blue circle on top. Sky put the glove on his left hand. He opened the letter, and read it. The letter was from Veritas, to him. The letter was about, Kingdom Hearts, the Keyblades, the Princesses of Heart, and Kye and his brother. The end of the letter was about Sky and Umbras birth, Veritas' origin, and what caused the Keyblade War.

Chapter 12: The Sons of Kingdom Hearts

I guess it’s time to tell you about how you were born. But first I have to tell you about me. I wasn’t always on the side of light. I was once on the side of darkness. I was apprenticed under the Grand Master of Darkness. He taught me about balance, life, love, and forgiveness. He was a great man; I wish you could have met him. One day my Master received a vision from Kingdom Hearts. He said, Kingdom Hearts told him Kye would return at The Cross Roads of Destiny. I went with my Master to meet Kye, but when we got there, we were met the Grand Master of Light and Vergil. The Master of Light said he received the same vision. Then, two hearts started to slowly fall from the sky. When the hearts got to the ground, the hearts turned into two babies. That was the first time we met. The Masters knew who you two were. They knew the world wasn’t ready for the return of Kyes power. So they decided to separate you two, so you would never be strong enough to forge the X-Blade. My Master and I took you, while Vergil and his Master took Umbra. To be honest, I thought you should have never existed. I feared the power you could gain. But my Master assured me your power could be used for good. I trusted my Master, and believed him. Everything was fine for a while. Then the other Keyblade wielders, found out about you and Umbra. There had always been tensions between Keyblade wielders, but I guess you two pushed them over the edge. Both sides demanded Kyes power, and this was the reason behind the Keyblade War. The Grand Masters came up with a way to stop the war. They ordered all Keyblade Masters to The Cross Roads of Destiny. There they would battle for the power of Kingdom Hearts. Before my Master departed, he took me and you to Castle Oblivion, a place where we would be safe. He told me I would have to rebuild the worlds. I asked him how? He told me “Find the light, in the hearts of the innocent.”. Then, he placed a large amount of light in my heart. Luckily, my heart was able to take the strain. He told me I would walk the road to light now. He said when the war was over, to unlock the world with my Keyblade. Finally, he told me to keep you safe. That was the last time I ever saw my Master; I still miss him. When the war was over, I raced to the battlefield. I was shocked at what I found. The Keyblades of countless key bearers formed a crossroad. That’s when I knew, my world was gone. The only thing left to do was take care of you. I hate to say it, but I hated you. My world, and my Master were gone because of you. I wanted to kill you, but I remembered what my Master had said. So I unlocked our world, and created my new home; your home.

That’s all the knowledge I have to give you. I know you’re scared, confused, angry, and I can’t blame you. This was all so sudden, and I should have prepared you better. I know your doubting yourself, and you don’t think you can beat him. But you have something he doesn’t; people who believe in you. I’m sorry; I won’t be there to see you change the world. But that’s okay; I know you have all the strength you need. Goodbye Sky.

    P.S. Good luck with Hikari.

    -Love
    Veritas

Sky started to cry. He missed his Master. But he knew what he needed to. He wouldn’t let his Masters sacrifice be in vain. He walked to the grand hall, where Hikari was waiting.

“What are you going to do?” Hikari asked. Sky kept quiet. Then he summoned a corridor of light. “Talk to me!” Sky was still silent. “Stop!” Sky turned around. Hikari was now in tears. She ran up to Sky, and buried her face in his chest. “You don’t have to do this! We can go back to the islands, just the two of us!” Sky hugged Hikari.
“Goodbye.” Sky pushed her away, and stepped through the corridor.

Sky arrived at a desert. The wind was blowing sand everywhere. The terrain was scared, with craters. Sky walked along a path. He kept walking, until the path changed. The path was now made of Keyblades. There were Keyblades as far as the eye could see. Sky kept walking until the Keyblades formed a crossroad. Sky stood in the crossroad, and then he saw Umbra walking toward him.
    “Are you ready?” Umbra asked.
“I don’t want to fight you.” Sky replied.
“Why not?! I brought chaos onto the worlds, I killed your Master!”
    “Because I know why.”
    “You don’t know me!”
“I do. You fight because that’s all you know. You don’t have to fight anymore.”
Umbra started to hysterically laugh. “I see what you’re doing. But it’s not going to work. We will fight.” Umbra summoned his Keyblade, and Sky summoned his.
    “I wish things were different.”
“So do I.” The two lunged at each other, and clashed blade. When their blades hit each other, they created loud boom. With each hit the booms kept getting louder, causing the ground to shake. Sky jumped away, and fired fifty spheres of light at Umbra. Umbra blocked the attacks, and fired a giant sphere of darkness at Sky. Sky deflected the attack with his Keyblade, sending it into an adjacent mountain. When the sphere made contact, it left a gaping hole. Then Umbra grabbed one of the Keyblade in the ground, and threw it at Sky. Sky grabbed the blade and raced toward Umbra. Sky land several hits, but Umbra grabbed him and threw him to the ground. Sky got up, and started to preform passion. Sky quickly created all forty-two pillars. Umbra made his own version of the attack, using pillars of darkness.
    “PASSION!” Sky cried.
    “DESPAIR!” Umbra screamed.
The two swung their Keyblades, sending the pillars flying toward the other. The pillars collided, creating a huge explosion of light and darkness. With blinding speed, Sky flew toward Umbra, slashing him across his torso. Umbra fell to the ground, dropping his Keyblade.
    “How?” Umbra said.
“I have people to fight for.” Sky replied.
    “Do it. Finish me.”
    “No.”
    “What?”
    “I won’t kill you.”
Umbra let out a loud scream. “I don’t understand you!”
“That’s why you can’t beat me.” Sky started to walk. Then the man in the tattered black coat, appeared next to Umbra.
“Do you need some help?” The man asked.
“Stay out of this.” Sky looked at Umbra, but he couldn’t see the man.
“I didn’t train you to lose.” The man summoned a blade made of darkness, and stabbed Umbra in the chest. Darkness started erupting from Umbras body, covering the world in darkness. “Give in to the darkness! Become darkness itself!” Finally, a huge explosion of darkness came from Umbras body.

When the darkness faded, Sky was on snow covered platform. The only light was coming from a blue heart shaped moon, in the distance. Sky turned around, and saw Umbra. Umbra was wearing a black and blue suit. The suit looked like it was made of an organic material. The suit was black around the feet, and wrist, and faded to blue. On his chest was a black heart. He had a black belt and a cloth around his waist, opening in the front. The cloth was black and faded into blue, around the ripped edges. The helmet looked like the head of a dragon with the mouth opened. In the mouth of the helmet was a black visor.
“Our Mother will see who is worthy of her power.” Umbra said.
“Fine.” Sky put his hand on his metal glove, and was engulfed in light. When the light faded, Sky was wearing armor. Skys armor was gold and silver. The boots were gold and faded to silver toward the ankles. The knee and shoulder pads where gold, and outlined with silver. The chest piece started silver at the bottom, and quickly changed to gold. Under the pieces of armor was black suit, which was decorated with thin blue lines. The helmet had two prongs on both sides that pointed backward and angled diagonally upward. The helmet was gold at the jaw line, and the rest was silver, except for the black visor. The armor also sported a gold cape. The tow summoned their Keyblades. They ran toward one another, but were stopped by an invisible force. Then a ring of light and darkness formed around them, and a silver X appeared on the ground.
“It is time brother.” Umbra said. Sky was silent. The two walked toward one another, until their bodies merged together. When that happened, a huge pillar of light and darkness shot into the sky.

Sky was now on his pillar, except it had change. One half had an image of Sky, and the other had an image of Umbra. The images had their Keyblades crossed, to form an X. The outer ring of Umbras half was lined with black hearts. Sky noticed that his helmet was gone. He turned around to see Umbra. Umbras helmet was gone as well, and he now had silver hair.
“Now to see who will control Kye’s power.” Umbra said.
    “I will, for my friends.”
“So you fight for the sake of others.”
“Yes. I’ve become a part of their hearts. Just as they’ve become a part of mine. My friends are my power, and I’m theirs!” The two summoned their Keyblades, and ran toward each other. When they met, Sky got behind Umbra, and went to hit Umbra. Umbra was able to block the attack with his Keyblade. Umbra slammed his hand on the pillar, causing pillars of darkness to come up. Sky created a corridor of light, and disappeared. He appeared above Umbra, and hit him with several pillars of light. The two fought, for what seemed like forever, each showing mastery over their respective element. Then Sky became covered in light, and Umbra became covered in darkness.
“It’s time to end this brother.” Umbra said. The two jumped into the air, and clashed blades.

On the outside, Sky was wearing his white coat; which was now covered in black designs. In his hand was a strange looking blade. The blade was made up of two Kingdom Keys crossing, to form and X. Coming from the crossing keys was another blade. The blade had a green filigree at the base, that faded into the long light gold blade. The key chains linked together, and the token was a black heart outlined with red, and two keys crossing over it. There was an eerie silence, until Sky spoke.
    “All worlds begin in darkness.”

That was brilliantly done! The way it ended was amazing and sad. With Hikari tearing up when he left in chapter 11 and the battle with Umbra in chapter 12. You could feel the tension between the two and the sadness Hikari had. Will there be one more chapter or is this the end?

Chapter 13: Where The Heart Goes

“All worlds begin in darkness. But they are born from the light. Our hearts are no different. Whether we choose to follow the darkness we were born in, or the light that created us; these paths matter not. They both lead to the same place. The place where all hearts must go.” Sky felt the worlds leave his mouth, but they didn’t feel like his. Then he realized it was because the words weren’t his; they belonged to Kye. Sky could feel all of Kyes memories and knowledge; it was almost overwhelming. Then Sky knew what he had to do. He took the X-Blade, and stabbed himself in the chest. A heart flew out of Skys chest, and the X-Blade disappeared in a flash of light and darkness. The heart slowly turned into Umbra.

“Why did you do that!? Wait. My heart feels different. What did you do!?” Umbra cried.
“You carry some of my light, and carry some of your darkness.” Sky replied.
    “Why!?”
“So no one will ever have to fight our battle again.”
Umbra smirked. “Well played, brother. You haven’t changed since I met you.”
Sky let out a sigh. “You don’t see it, but these last few weeks, were very hard on me. Loosing people I cared about. Finding out that everything I thought about myself was wrong.” Umbra started too faded away. “Umbra.”
“This world has no place for me. I’m going to be with our mother.”
“Goodbye my brother, see you again.”
“I’ll be waiting.” Umbras body completely faded, and his heart flew into the heart shaped moon.
Then Sky heard a voice. “I’d expect nothing less from you.” Sky turned around to see the man in the tattered black coat.
“Who are you talking to? Me or Kye.”
“My brother, of course.” Then a man in a white coat, stepped out of Skys body.
“I didn’t have to do anything. It was all him.” The man said.
    “Your heart was always stronger.”
“That doesn’t matter now. No one will ever obtain out mother power.”
“People will always hunger for her power.”
“You’re probably right. History will repeat itself. You and I are proof of that. But there is one thing I do know.”
    “And what is that?”
“No matter who tries to take her power. No matter how strong they are. Someone will be there to stop them.”
“We’ll see.” The man in the black coat faded away, into the heart shaped moon. Kye turned around, and faced Sky.
“Take care of that heart. I want it to be in good shape for the next person.” Then Kye faded into the moon. Sky was trying to process the days events. Then he noticed Umbras Keyblade on the ground. Sky picked up the blade, and became covered in light. When the light faded, the Keyblade changed. The blade and key chain were now gold, the guard was silver, the rain guard was red, and the handle was brown. Sky summoned his Keyblade, and stabbed them both into the ground, crossing the two. Sky stared at the heart shaped moon.
“Thank you.” Then a path appeared. Sky began walking along the path. Sky saw several Heartless, but the Heartless didn’t bother him. Perhaps out of fear. Sky continued to walk for what seemed like forever. Then he arrived at a beach. The beach was covered in black rocks, which had sparkling blue lines on them. There was a larger rock arching across the sky. In the distance was a moon that bathed the beach in a pale light. Sky sat on the beach, and let the waves lap against his feet. “At least the waves sound the same.” Sky realized he couldn’t escape the dark realm, and he was trapped there. Then Sky began to cry. “I’ll never see her again. But that’s okay. I know she’s safe, and that’s enough.” Then Sky remembered the letter Hikari wrote him. He had been carrying the letter the whole time. He reached in his pocket, and pulled out the letter. He read Hikaris beautiful words, and it filled his heart with love. Then a light appeared in front of him. The light grew larger, until it became a doorway. Sky got up, and stepped through the doorway.

Sky appeared at The Land of Departures court yard. Sky ran into castle. “Hikari!” Sky screamed. Sky eventually made his way into the grand hall. There he saw Veritas’ Keyblade, resting on the middle throne. He picked up his Masters Keyblade. “I guess I’m the Master now.” Sky continued to look for Hikari, but she was nowhere to be found. Then he got an idea, of where she might be. Sky created a corridor of light, and stepped through it.

Sky appeared on Destiny Islands. He saw Hikari sitting on the beach. Sky walked up, and sat beside her. Hikari didn’t notice him at first, but when she did, she wrapped her arms around him, and kissed him.
“Your back.” Hikari said through her tears.
    “I’m home.”

Things were quiet after that. There wasn’t even the slightest trace of darkness in the worlds. Sky married Hikari, and the two had a daughter. Sky saw it was best for Keyblade wielders, to stay out of the affairs of other worlds. Eventually Keyblade wielders became just a legend. Skys life was filled with joy. Until one day, Hikari unexpectedly died. After that, Sky just gave up on living. He didn’t eat, didn’t sleep, it was as if he wanted to die. To be reunited with his wife and his Master. Eventually, his body couldn’t take it anymore, and he was close to death. He laid in his bed, with his daughter by his side. She was the spitting image of Hikari. Sky had aged, but he still had his brown hair. He was still too young for death. Sky handed his daughter the Master Keeper. “It's your turn to change the world.” His daughter began to daughter cry. Sky wiped the tears from her eyes. “It’s okay. I’m going to be with you mother now.” In his last thoughts, Sky thought about Hikari, Veritas, and Umbra. They were the people who made him who he was. As his light faded, he thought about the words that brought him out of the darkness.

Thinking of you, wherever you are.
We pray for our sorrows to end, and hope that our hearts will blend.
Now I will step forward to realize this wish.
    And who knows:
starting a new journey may not be so hard,
or maybe it has already begun.
There are many worlds, but they share the same sky —
    one sky, one destiny.

    The End

T.T it's so sad and beautiful! Wasn't expecting to see Umbras one last time, but I'm happy to see Sky came back to Hikari. So it all became a legend afterwards, Sky and Hikari wedding and being together with no darkness left in the world. Buts it so sad to see it end and have them both died so soon. It was a lot of fun reading it.

Thanks :). Ya, it all became a legend, and that's how Xehanort knew about the X-Blade. Sky and Hikari are like two song birds.

Thanks. Wait till my next fic. I'm a little surprised no one asked me why Sky looks like Sora.

Thanks. She does. She trains apprentices, and passes Veritas' keyblade down until it eventually gets to Aqua.

One Destiny: The Ballad of Truth

    Chapter I

    The Master and The Shadow

As I floated in the sea of light I contemplated my life. My master, my apprentice, the darkness, the light; all of these thoughts entered my mind. I could honestly say my life wasn’t an easy one, but in the end I was able to die happy. I knew I could count on him, after all Sky had never let me down. He was the reason my life had purpose. He made me want to be stronger, to be a better person. I wondered if I’d be able to see him again. I kept floating until I felt a presence.

“I didn’t expect to see you here.” I turned to see a young silver haired boy. Although his hair had changed I could still recognize him.

“Hello Umbra.” I couldn’t forget his face; he was the one who killed me. However I couldn’t blame him for it. His life was filled with pain and sadness, and I was too afraid to save him. “So how did your battle go?”

“He defeated me, and ensured our battle would never be fought again.” Umbra gripped his chest and I could see a faint glimmer of light.

“So you have a piece of him.”

    “You don’t sound surprised.”

“I wouldn’t expect anything less from him.” I had always had faith and Sky. I believed in him, and hoped that that would give him the strength he needed.

“So what are you doing here, I expected you would have moved on.”

“I promised I would see Sky again.”

“I promised him the same thing.”

“Then it sounds like we have some time to kill. What do you want to do?”

“Why are talking to me like that, did you forget that I was one who killed you?”

I shot Umbra a smile. “I know but we’re not enemies anymore.”

“At least I see where he got his smile from.”

“You have it backwards; Sky’s the one who taught me how to smile.”

“That sounds like him.” As Umbra spoke a light began coming out of his chest. The light grew brighter and brighter, until it swallowed both of us.

When the light faded, we were at The Land of Departures grand hall. I’d never expected to see my home again. As I looked took in my surroundings, I saw Sky and Hikari standing before the other Keyblade Masters. There was Zane, Amelia, Rain, Blaze, and Julie. For some reason they all had their hoods pulled up. I walked up to each of them and saw that they were crying.

    “Why are you guys crying?”

“I think this is your funeral.” I turned to see Umbra behind me.

I waved my hand in front of Zane’s face, but it wasi f he couldn’t see me. “I guess we’re like ghost.” I wondered how we we’re able to exist in the Realm of Light again? I began to think, but my train of thought was broken when Sky started to speak.

“Veritas was like my father, he was like my brother, but more importantly he was my friend. He was everyone’s friend. He gave his life so that we could build a brighter future. He believed that a world could exist where everyone was happy.” As Sky finished his sentence he began crying. After seeing my apprentice cry, I began to do the same. “I know he’s gone but as long as we keep him in our hearts he’ll always be with us.”

It was then that I realized how much I meant to Sky. I had raised him since he was born, and now I couldn’t be there for him anymore. I knew what was like to lose the most important person in your life. You understand why they’re gone, but the pain and emptiness is still there. But I knew he would be fine. Hikari would fill the void in his life, just as he filled the void in mine.

“Looks like our times up.” I noticed that the lightin Umbra’s chest had returned. The light engulfed us and we returned to sea of light.

“What was that?” I figured Umbra might have a clue.

“Since I carry some of his light our hearts are connected. With that I’m able to take us to him.”

“Then we can go see him when ever we want?” I was excited at the thought of seeing Sky again. Even if all I could do was watch, it would nice to see him grow up.

“I don’t think it works that way.”

    “What do you mean?”

“We can only go when he’s experiencing some sort of strong emotion.”

    “How do you know?”

“I felt a great sadness before that light appeared.”

“Oh.” I knew it must have been painful for Sky to speak at my funeral. It must have brought a lot of emotions.

“There’s something I want to ask you.”

    “Shoot.”

“Can you tell me your story?”

The story is broken into two parts; Veritas's past and Veritas and Umbra in The Realm of Death. **** will signal the begining of Veritas telling his story to Umbra and **** will signal when he's done.

    Chapter II

A Shattered Life and a Beautiful Dream

I found Umbra’s request rather odd. “Why do you want to know about me?”

“Tell me your story, and then I’ll answer.” The silver haired youth replied.

“Fair enough so I was born, I raised Sky, and then I died, moving on.” I couldn’t help from laughing.

“You’re going to have to do better than that.”

“Sure I guess I’ll start when I met you and Sky.”

    ****

I was twelve at the time, but I was told for my age I was quite skilled with the darkness. One night my Master stormed into my room.

“Veritas we have to go!” My Master said. I can still picture his pitch black hair, and piercing green eyes.

“What’s wrong? Are the others fighting again?” Recently there had been growing tensions between the Light and the Dark. There were a few skirmishes but nothing too serious.

“Nothing like that, but it is important.”

“Okay.” I got up andt hrew on my black coat. “So where are we going?”

“You’ll see when we get there.” My Master summoned a corridor of darkness, and we were off.

We appeared at The Cross Roads of Destiny. The area was simply a field of grass with four paths converging together. There were also a few mountains in the distance. We walked to where the paths converged, and found Vergil and his Master.

“What are you doing here Nero?” Vergil’s Master asked. Aspros had long white hair and teal eyes just like mine.

“I assume the same reason as you Aspros.” My Master replied. As he finished his sentence we witnessed two hearts fall from the sky. When the hearts reached the ground they transformed into two babies; one was wrapped in a white blanket and the other in a black one. “So this is Kye.” He picked one of the babies and beckoned me away. “Veritas stand over there, Aspros and I need to talk.”

“You do the same Vergil.” Aspros said while he picked up the other baby. Vergil and I walked out into the field out of ear shot.

“So what’s your name?” I asked. Vergil just ignored me. “Are you mute or something?”

“I will not converse with creatures of the dark.” Vergil replied. I could tell from the moment I met him, I didn’t like him. He was always up on his high horse; believing how the light was so superior. I never understood why he hated the darkness so much. We stood in silence until our Masters called us back.

“Are we in agreement?” Aspros asked.

“Yes, we’ll keep them separated; until the world is ready for their power.” My Master replied.

“Okay then.” Aspros summoned a corridor of light. “Hopefully they will be reunited one day.”

“As do I.” Aspros and Vergil disappeared in the corridor with you.

“What’s going on? And who’s that baby?” I asked. My Master then told me the legend of Kye. He then told me that he and Aspros were given a vision from Kingdom Hearts. He explained that Kingdom Hearts told him Kye would return at the cross roads. “So what are we going to call him?”

    “We’ll call him Sky.”

I thought it was an odd name. Then again I never met another person name Veritas. “Why Sky?”

He then smiled at me. “Because he came from the Sky silly.”

    “Okay then.”

It was kind of quiet after that. We did our best to take care of Sky. To be honest I felt a little uncomfortable around him. I feared the kind of power he could wield. I confided in my Master, and he assured me that you and Sky would bring peace to the world. Then one day something terrible happened. The other Keyblade wielders found out about you and Sky. Both sides demanded that you and he be handed over to them; but both Masters refused to do so. Then the Keyblade War erupted. Sad to say manyKingdoms were dragged into the conflict, and many hearts were lost. Then the Grand Masters decided to end the war. They called all Keyblade Masters to The Cross Roads of Destiny; there they would battle for Kye’s power. Before my Master departed he took me and Sky to Castle Oblivion; a place where we would be safe.

He took us to a whiteroom, with a single white throne in the center, and the walls were decorated with the symbols of the Keyblade Order.

“Where are you going!?” I cried.

“I’m going to the crossroads, and I won’t be coming back.”

I then felt streams of tears rolling down my face. “Take me with you!”

“No, you have to repair the world.” A sphere of light appeared in his hand, and he placed it inside my chest. My black coat then turned white. Luckily my heart was strong enough tot ake the strain. “You must walk the road of light now.”

“What do you mean, and how am I suppose to repair the world.”

“The world will become broken and bathed in darkness. You will then use the light to expel the darkness.”

“How am I suppose to do that!?”

“Look for the light in the hearts of the innocent.”

“No! I said I’m going with you!” I couldn’t stand the thought of losing my Master. He taught me so many things; about life, light, darkness, balance, love, and forgiveness. I was who I was because of him.

He then summoned a corridor of darkness. “When the war ends unlock this world with your Keyblade. This will be your new home.”

“I said I’m coming with you!” I tried to enter the corridor, but he pushed me away.

“I said you can’t come with me. Besides, someone has to take care of Sky.” He then bent down andhugged me. “It’s your turn to change the world now.” He then disappeared through the corridor.

That was last time I ever saw my Master. I miss him till this day. The next day I felt the ground shake violently. I took this as a sign that the war had ended. I summoned my own corridor and went to The Cross Roads of Destiny; I was horrified at what I found. The once green field was now a barren dessert, and the cross roads were now formed by the Keyblades of fallen wielders. I fell to my knees and began to cry. It was then that I realized my world was gone. Everything I knew had been erased from the world. Then I felt a burning anger well up inside me. I thought that this was all Sky’s fault. If he hadn’t of been born my Master would still be alive. I guess I was just looking for someone to blame. I then returned to Castle Oblivion.

Sky was sitting in the throne, just as I left him. I summoned my Keyblade and prepared to strike him. As I raised my blade he began to cry.

“Shut up!” I screamed. “This all you fault. Thanks to you my Master is dead.” As I went to swing my blade, I heard my Masters voice.

“This isn’t his fault Veritas. This is because both sides forgot about balance. I know you’re scared and angry, but nothing you do will change the past. The only thing you can do is push forward. All you have to do is have faith, and remember Sky will bring peace to the world.”

I lowered my blade, and began to cry once again. But this time they were tears of joy. I realized my Master had faith in Sky, and so should I. I then noticed a keyhole appeared on the back of the throne. I remembered my Masters words and unlocked the keyhole. The room became enveloped in light. When the light had faded, Castle Oblivionh ad become The Land of Departure.

    ****

“So you do understand sadness.” Umbra said.

“Yes, but a few weeks of sadness doesn’t compare to a life filled with misery.” I truly emphasizedw ith Umbra, but I knew my pain was nothing compared to his.

“It wasn’t completely filled with misery.”

“What do you mean?” Before Umbra could answer we were consumed by light once again.

We arrived at The Shores of Harmony. There Sky and Hikari were standing in front of Amelia. I then noticed Hirkari was wearing a white dress. Then I realized this must be Sky’s wedding.

“He doesn’t waste anytime. I’m barley in my grave and he already pops the question.”

“It’s been a year since your funeral.” Umbra said.

“That doesn’t make any sense. We just saw him.”

“Time must flow differently in The Realm of Death.”

“At least we have a name for our new home.”

Then Hikari began to speak. “Sky, you remember the day we met? I was so frigid then, but you taught me how to have fun and enjoy life. You slowly filled my heart with love. Then we kissed in front of that sunset. That was when I decided I wanted to be with you for the rest of my life. I know our lives haven’t been easy, but I promise that I’ll be with you through the good times and the bad. I couldn’t imagine my life without you. I guess what I’m trying to say is, I love you and I want to be with you forever.”

I couldn’t help put shed a tear, then I waited for Sky to speak. He just put on a goofy smile.

“I love you too.” Hikari, Amelia and I laughed, while Umbra put his hand over his face.

When they were donel aughing, Amelia spoke. “I now pronounce you man and wife, you may kiss the bride.” Sky leaned and gently kissed Hikari. I was happy for the two. They got the chance to find someone they loved, and be with them. Unlike me who was only able to accomplish the first part. As we watched the two, Umbra and I were engulfed in the light once again.

    “That was beautiful.” I said.

“I assume he didn’t read very much.”

“Nope. Sky couldn’t even look at a book for more than few minutes without dozing off. Anyway where was I?”

“You just unlocked The Land of Departure.”

“ Oh yeah, that was when I first met her.”

    Chapter III

    A New Life

    ****

After unlocking the world I began the task of raising Sky. Given I was still upset over losing myMaster, but I decided to push forward. Luckily Sky didn’t give me much time to deal with my feelings. It was difficult raising him on my own. He needed my constant attention; and if he didn’t get my attention he would let out the loudest cry I’ve ever heard. It was at least a week before I finally decided to venture out in the worlds. Before I set out I placed a seal on my heart; tok eep my dark powers locked up. I figured there would be at least one person who would sense the darkness in me. And telling from Vergil’s personality, they wouldn’t be very tolerant. After placing the seal I opened a corridor. I was a little worried about leaving Sky alone, but I knew I wouldn’t be gone for verylong.

The corridor opened before a forest. The trees were dark and twisted, and the wind was a howling gust. I looked at the sky and could see the darkness swirling above. It amazed me that the world was able to exist at all. I then began to search for the light. My Master had said to find the light in the hearts of the innocent, so Ia ssumed he meant children. I walked along a path until I saw a young man; he appeared to be searching for something. I decided to approach the boy, and see if there were any more people.

“Excuse me.” The boyt hen turned his attention toward me. “Is there anyone with you?”

He seemed a little confused. He was probably wondering what I was doing in his world. “What are you doing here? It’s dangerous for someone your age to be out here alone.”

I was a little insulted, but I brushed it off. “Are there any children in this world?”

“Yes, but why do you ask?” I then told him how I would use the light to banish the darkness. “That’s good to hear.” He then held out his hand. “I’m George.”

I shook his hand. “I’m….” I couldn’t tell him my name. I feared if someone knew who I was they would come after Sky and I. I’ll admit it was irrational, but I guess I was justb eing overly protective.

“It’s okay; you don’t have to tell me your name if you don’t want to.” George then pointed down a path. “Follow me.”

As we walked George explained what had happened to his world. He said that there was an earthquake, and then darkness swept across the land. The darkness took many hearts and twisted everything it touched. Luckily George was able to lead some of the people to safety. After the darkness settled it was safe to go outside, but there was still the occasional pocket of darkness. This was what my Master had warned me about.

We then arrived at the mouth of a large cave. “Everyone’s in there.” George said.

We entered the cave and there were green flames decorating the walls. We walked until we arrived at a large opening in the cave. Inside there were at least one hundred people. At the far end of the cave there were two flames; one green and one black. George then began to mingle amongst the people. He did this for a few minutes before coming back to me; with a slew of children behind him.

“Here are the children,s o now what?” George asked. I led the children outside, and then wondered what to do next. My Master never said what to do with the light. Then suddenly my Keyblade appeared in my hand. Then small glimmers of light flew out of children’s hearts and into my blade. As I stood there shocked, my body began to move on its own. I raised my blade and a sphere of light shot into the sky. The sphere grew larger until it engulfed the entire world. When the light faded I could feel that the darkness had left the world. The area we were standing inw as still twisted and dark, but I could tell the rest of the world was back to normal.

George then walked up to me. “Did it work?”

“Yep everything should be like it was.”

Goerge then violently shook my hand. “Thank you so much! You have no idea what this means to us!”

I smiled at him. “No problem.” I then summoned a corridor. “I gotta go.”

“Again thank you, I’ll be sure you’re remembered as a hero.”

“Thank you.” I then took my leave.

When I got back, Sky was crying as loud as ever. I held him in my arms and he became silence. I could tell that Sky really did miss me. I then realized that I had missed him. After all, we were all the other had. I put Sky back to sleep and then thought about what I had done. As I thought I realized how large my task really was. I had no idea how many worlds there were or how long it would take to restore them. However, I knew it was a task only I could do.

The following morning I had visitors. I felt the presence of five Keyblade wielders. I assumed they had come to attack me, so I summoned my blade and rushed to courtyard.

“What do you want!?” I screamed.

Zane was the first to approach me. Even when we were young Zane stood a foot taller than me. “Are you the one who banished the darkness from that world?”

    “Answer me first!”

“Okay then, I’m Zane, that’s Amelia, Rain, Blaze and Julie.” Rain had shoulder length blue hair and matching eyes. Blaze had spiky short red hair and green eyes. And Julie had long blonde hair with green eyes. “We just want to know who you are.”

“Fine then, but I’m not going to tell you anything!”

Blaze summoned his blade. “This isn’t working Zane; I say we beat the answers out of him.”

I went to undo the seal on my heart before I heard a voice. “That won’t be necessary Blaze.” A corridor appeared and a girl stepped out of it. She had short black hair with a few pink highlights, and dark pink eyes.

Blaze’s blade disappeared. “Whatever Dawn, I still think my way is better.” Then Julie hitB laze on top of his head. “Owww, what was that for!?”

“That’s for always thinking with your Keyblade!” Julie yelled.

Dawn then walked up to me. As she got closer I noticed her pupils were in the shape of hearts. “We’re not here to hurt you. We just want know how you restored that world, that’s all.”

I lowered my blade.“Like I told them I’m not saying anything.”

“We just want to restore the worlds. And since you’re the only one who knows how, we don’t have much choice.”

“I….” I didn’t know what to do. The others could help me restore the worlds. But if they found out about my past, what then? “It’s just….”

“We understand how you must feel.”

As she uttered that sentence, all my pain and sadness came bubbling to the surface. “You have no idea how I feel! I’ve lost everything I knew and loved! You couldn’t possiblyunderstand!” As I screamed I could feel tears rolling down my face.

Dawn remained as calm as ever. “Yes we do. We’ve all lost our homes, and the people we loved. But we’re determined to find a new home, and new people to love.” She then hugged me. “You don’t have to be alone.”

She was right. They had all lost so much, just as I had. And they wanted to build a new future, a new home, like me. I realized I shouldn’t hold on to the past anymore. I should go forward like my Master had told me.

“Not to break up your moment, but can anyone else hear that?” Amelia said. Dawn let me go, and we listened for sound. I then recognized the sound, it was Sky crying.

“Is that a baby crying?” Dawn asked.

I was hesitant at first, but I knew they didn’t mean any harm. “…Yes.”

Amelia, Julie, and Rain ran up to me. “Can we go see it!?” The three said in unison.

“I don’t see why not, he likes attention anyway.”

“I don’t get what the big deal is about babies anyway. It’s not like they’re really good for anything.” Blaze said. After he was done Julie ran up to him and hit his head once again. “What was that for?!”

“Quit being mean!” She then ran back to me. “Let’s go.”

I led them to Sky’s room, and picked him up. The three girls awed at him. Though I have to admit, I was with Blaze. I didn’t see what was so special about babies either.

“Can we hold him?” Rain asked.

“Okay.” I handed Sky to her. “I can see why you were so riled up earlier. You must have thought we were going to hurt this little guy.”

“Something like that.” Rain, Amelia, and Julie then began to argue over who got to hold Sky next.

“So what’s his name?” Dawn asked.

    “Sky.” I replied.

    “So is he your brother?”

“Not exactly.” I knew it was best to keep Sky’s origin to myself.

“It must be hard raising a child on your own.” Zane said.

“It’s definitely not easy.” I then noticed that Blaze was staring at me very intensely. “Can I help you?” I thought I was busted.

“You know, I’ve never seen someone with such strange hair.”

I felt a sense ofr elief washed over me. Then Julie hit Blaze once again. “I said quit being mean!”

“You have to admit, it’s not every day you see someone with silver hair.” Blaze said trying tod efend himself.

We then began laughing; it had been so long since I had laughed.

“I think he has beautiful hair.” Dawn said.

I felt my face turn red; no one had everc omplimented my hair before. “Veritas.” They all turned toward me. “My name is Veritas.”

“It must have been nice to have friends.” Umbra said.

“Yeah, it was nice to have people in my life again.” I replied.

    “Did she know?”

“You mean Dawn? I don’t think she knew at the time. She was more worried about her brother.”

“He wasn’t worthy of her concern.”

“Wait a sec, you knew Dawn.”

“She use to visit me. She was the only glimmer of light in my life.”

    “Were you two close?”

“I thought you were telling me your story.” Umbra apparently didn’t want to talk about his past. I couldn’t blame him though. Then Umbra began gripping his chest.

    “What’s wrong?”

“Something’s wrong with Sky. He’s feeling scared and happy at the same time.”

“Then let’s go.” Umbra engulfed us in the light.

We arrived inside Sky’s room. He was standing in front of Hikari with an expression of shock on his face, while she was smiling.

“How long has it been?” I asked.

“It’s been a year.” Umbra replied.

    Then Sky began to speak.“You’re….pregnant.”

“Yep, I’m going to be a mother.”

“And…I’m...going to be a father.” Sky still had the expression of shock.

    “You don’t look happy.”

“Don’t get me wrong I’m happy it’s just….” I wished I could talk to him, and reassure him. It was hard raising a child, but it had its up as well.

Hikari grabbed his hands. “I know it’s scary, but there’s nothing two Keyblade Masters can’t handle.”

Sky’s usual smile returned. “Why do you always steal my lines?” He then embraced her. “Can I ask you something?”

“You know you can ask me anything.”

“If it’s a boy can we name him Veritas?” I was flattered the Sky would name his child after me.

“We can name it whatever you want.” Umbra and I were engulfed in the light.

I noticed that Umbrahad the same blank expression on his face. “C’mon smile; you’re going to be an uncle.” He remained silent. “If that doesn’t make you smile I don’t know what will.”

“Back to your story.” Umbra clearly didn’t want to talk about it. He must not of been use to feel positive emotions.

“Okay then. This is when I first met Hikari.”
