I'll think up ideas to help improve this system. And trust me, if I come up with anytihng, I'd be the last one to hesitate on letting you know.

Hey I have an idea for a fanfic but I don't want to post it cause it isn't done. Could I just PM one of you guys the ouline of the whole story and see what you think? Also I'd like to be a Beta Reader.

Yeah, you can PM it to anyone who gives you their permission. I don't think I'll be able though. I expect to become fairly busy in the next week. But if none of the others give you their permission, I'll take it.

And I'm thinking there might be enough beta readers at the moment. If the others think we need more though, then I'll add you.


And speaking of beta readers, Guys, don't be affraid of reviewing a story another beta reader has already done. You might just spot things the others might have missed.

That's not a bad idea. but it'll be a hassel to maintain all the time, and eventually we'd lose track. It's a good idea for bumping requests that have yet to have been done though. And I like your inititive.

Additional suggestion:
Perhaps each beta reader could manage her/his own topic; they'd have the fictions which they choose to review on their front page along with their progress in doing so.

Well for one thing, it'd create unneeded threads. And it's be more difficult for us to work as a team.

shot in the dark, but I'm taking it that everyone that asked to be a reader is intending to actually read and manage their topics, you may even be able to ask if your topic could get pinned to separate them from the fic topics.

EDIT after reading ASG:
Then perhaps you could choose from several methods:[list]- have a main thread which only testers have post their current projects, and a thread which writers request
- have a main thread which one person keeeps track of all of the projects and their readers, and several sub-threads.
- Make sure that the first couple of posts in a thread are the beta reader's post, that way they could edit freely and bump when they've edited.

Hopefully these don't get shot down without consideration.

Hmm, then we would get a pretty long list of sticky's, biszness.

Maybe something like Arcana suggested, but more... easier. Just post the fics that need to be reviewed (with links) in the first post or something, so every beta-reader can check there once in a while and help the needed. Its a bit more organized then this loose posting, and not to difficult to maintain.

Easy for you to say. You're not the one who has to edit it.

Guiocob tried something simular with his fanfiction index. Every time somebody would post a new chapter, the jist of it would be that they would post a link to it along with the basic information, and then he would update the front page accordingly, indicating which fics were updated and which had been started. The last time he updated his front page was over two months ago.

Anyway, this is just a case of staying dedicated...and yeah, I know, it is easy for me to say, but what I meant with my last post is that you could maybe just put all the names of the fics in your first post, so we can check up. Just putting some names there wouldn't be that much of a problem, I guess...
