Premise #1: I was bored
Premise #2: It's getting closer and closer to winter time
Premise #3: There's a new lineup coming in winter
Premise #4: The V1 chart is already out
Conclusion: This thread

nice to see that my "Intro to Logic" class is finally paying off

Image: http://centakume.info/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/2009-11-10_00001.jpg

I know, looks pretty exciting, amirite?

At any rate, from this initial list, I'll probably check out:

Durarara!! - A possible spiritual successor to Baccano!? Count me in!
Qwaser of Stigmata - Even though I think the manga is "so-so", I'll still probably check it out.
Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu - It's so stupid, it just might work :P
Hidden God - Idk, seems interesting enough for a first episode.

Oh, and on another note: Chu-Bra = more to-the-point version of Kampfer.

Image: http://www.muchcolor.com/dbImg/20090917-3236-0008222-1-1.jpg

*Summary:* At the sight of greed, your average human being always chooses money over integrity; however, such a thing is impossible for the Nao Kanzaki, who is about the most honest person you can find. But when she accidentally joined "The Liar Game", her honesty has proved to be a deadly poison. In a game where every player has to either trick their opponents and get gain a large prize, or be burdened with a equally large debt, the honest Nao Kanzaki has no choice but to get help from Shinichi Akiyama, who is a genius con artist that conned a multi billionaire company. With the help of Akiyama, Nao Kanzaki now participates in the dangerous world of the "The Liar Game"

*Link:* Liar Game Manga - Read Liar Game manga scans online. (http://www.onemanga.com/Liar_Game/)

So yeah, I spent some time catching up on this series, and I'm glad that I did! It's obvious as you continue reading that it plays out very similar to the intellectual battles in Death Note, whether intentional or not (probably the former). Though, to be perfectly honest, I much prefer the execution of this manga than Death Note. The lack of a supernatural aspect allows more focus on the psychological part, and I think it works very well. The art leaves a bit to be desired, but it works well enough to establish mood and such. The similarities between Akiyama and L are uncanny, lol.

tl;dr: Read this manga and discuss :P

At a user's suggestion I have decided to make a discussion thread for the Viewtiful Joe anime, which is quite possibly the greatest anime ever made, and I know there are at least some people on the forums who are fans. To start things off, I want to ask something that's been pondering me for a while. Which organization do you think is better? Jadow or Gedow? They're both really awesome and each have different objectives, but for me personally Gedow gets the edge because they have Dr. Cranken and their plans are more elaborate and thought out than Jadow's. Actually it's more like Jadow's plans were all part of one big plan. What do you think?

Image: http://yasashiiuta.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/fakiminitodoke.jpg

I just now tried out a new anime and jesus christ I love every minute of it even just being halfway through the first episode.

Baaasically, it follows the life and times of a girl named Sawako Kuronuma. She's incredibly unpopular around school because everyone thinks she's cursed and can summon spirits and is just downright creepy due to rumors spreading like fire. Not to mention she's so socially awkward to begin with. Also, her name is close to Sadako like the girl from the Ring. One of her classmates, Kazehaya, is a direct opposite of her, and he's a lively popular guy. Her big ambition is to be as lively and friendly as he is and live up to her name (sawako means lively child).

i suck at explaining plot.

Sawako's voice actress is the same girl as Enma Ai from Hell Girl or Kotomi Ichinose from Clannad by the way. I caught it within a couple minutes because I'm odd. There are a lot of familiar voices.

Welcome to the N.H.K.revolves around the lives of several young-adults all living in or around the city of Tokyo. Many different lifestyles are shown though most of the time the story focuses on the concepts of being a hikikomori, anime otaku, and having most of the characters experience intense feelings of depression and loneliness. The main protagonist is Tatsuhiro Sato, a university dropout entering his fourth year of unemployment. He leads a reclusive life as a hikikomori, ultimately coming to the bizarre conclusion that this happened due to some sort of conspiracy. One day just when his life seems entirely unchanging, he meets Misaki Nakahara, a mysterious girl who claims to be able to cure Tatsuhiro of his hikikomoriways.

Happy Viewtiful Joe Day!

Today is a very special day. Exactly 4 years ago on this very day, the greatest anime to ever exist graced all of our North American television sets at exactly 10:30 A.M. I remember the day it aired like it was yesterday. I was so excited. I still remember the Newvember song when they said the line saying that Viewtiful Joe was making his debut onto the TV. I still have issues of Nintendo Power and Disney Adventures that had small articles on its coming. I sat in front of my TV all jittery. I couldn't wait. I REALLY wanted to see Gedow on the show since they're my favorite organization ever. I was waiting for that from day one. So it came on and I was blown away. At first I kept noting how different it was from the game, but then I decided to judge it for what it is. And what it was.... was spectacular. I loved it so much, and even my friend saw it and he thought it was awesome. The thing I remember most in the series was the very VERY end of episode 26, when it showed Gedow's ship flying toward earth. I was going "OH MY GOD! IT'S GEDOW! GEDOW'S IN THE NEXT SEASON! I CAN'T WAIT!" But even though I couldn't wait, I've had to for all these years and Phuuz is still not done adapting it to English
Then I got the DVDs. First I got volume 2 at Frys for a road trip so we could watch it on my mom's laptop and because episode 4 never aired in America at the time, I got volume 1 later. Then how I got volume 4 was one of the most memorable moments of my life. I got it as a birthday present, which I was going nuts about because I only thought 3 volumes were out. It was the best birthday present I ever got because it was so unexpected. I loved it! Then over a spawn of a few years I eventually got volumes 7, 8, 6, and 5 in that order. But I could never find a copy of volume 3 because Fry's didn't have it. Then on my last birthday I got an unexpected suprise. Yeah. Volume 3. You thought I went nuts before? You haven't seen anything. So now I never have to say "I have ALMOST the entire first season on DVD." Now I can say I have the ENTIRE season! It's magnificent.
Oh but things got better. On a band trip for our High School we went to an outlet mall. I didn't see many things I liked, but I did see a KB Toys, so I went in. I was looking around and thought to myself "I wonder if they have any Viewtiful Joe fig...." Then my heart skipped a beat. I saw then. Viewtiful Joe figures! each 6.99! (I think) Of course I grabbed 2 of them (they only had 2 sets) and sent them up to the checkout counter. And guess what. They were on clearnace for 99 cents. I was smiling for the rest of the ENTIRE day. I was one of the happiest days of my life.

Use this thread to post your experiences and life with Viewtiful Joe. And since it's Viewtiful Joe day, make sure you watch and play Viewtiful Joe like crazy. Keep the spirit alive. I'm going to watch episode 5 now.

:D yeah I went to a manga shop yesterday and I was looking around absolutely clueless, just in the hope that I'd maybe find some Kingdom Hearts manga. I didn't, of course, and instead I bought a legend of zelda one.

Apart from Kingdom Hearts volume 1, and a couple of ones I've borrowed from the library which I can't for the life of me remember, I've never read a proper manga before, although I would maybe like to begin, and was wondering where to start?

I hear people talking about a lot of different mangas such as Bleach, Death Note, Naruto etc. but which one's the best to start with??

I generally enjoy more comedy/girly books and films and stuff, and was wondering where to begin my manga saga?

(: (: (:

I seriously didn't know what other board to put this on. I wanted to ask what people will be doing for Viewtiful Joe Day, which is coming up this Thursday. By a shocking coincidence, I'm giving a speech on Clover Studio on Viewtiful Joe Day, and last night I found out that RAPTURE (from Bioshock) was made on Viewtiful Joe Day. I think it's a sign or something.

Anyway, I know that what I'll be doing is start watching the first english season of the Viewtiful Joe anime series on their release date (of course starting with episode 5 as it originally premiered). I feel that when I do that I'll relive the memories of waking up every Saturday morning to watch the best anime ever made. I'll also probably play the hell out of the Viewtiful Joe game series as well, but this IS more of a celebration of the anime considering Viewtiful Joe day is the day the anime first aired in America. It will be a wonderful day indeed. How will you spend it?
