Based around a story he wrote about a messiah figure sent to Earth to heal and save mankind but instead decides to eat all the pussy, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros is fronted by Ima Robot vocalist Alex Ebert. I initially didn't know about Alex being in the band so I was really surprised by how different he sounded (i.e., not poppy).

So a thread about who I, or we, think are the greatest musicians to touch the world with their talents.
Note : this doesn't necessarily mean they are talented in a traditional sense, more just musicians I think are good at what they do from just a listening perspective. I don't have the musical knowledge to judge them based on such talent. I'm willing to bet most of you don't either.

*Vocals*

Anthony Green (Circa Survive) - after Riel's thread I re-downloaded their stuff, and I love his voice.
Dallas Green (City and Colour, Alexisonfire)
Matt Bellamy (Muse)
Robin Pecknold (Fleet Foxes)
Nick Cave (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds)
Cedric Bixler-Zavala (The Mars Volta, At The Drive In)
Davey Havoc (AFI)
Kele Okereke (Bloc Party)
John Frusciante (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) - I like him more than Anthony, though I do enjoy both of them.
Jack Black (Tenacious D) - Seriously....
Hayley Williams (Paramore)
Ollie Sykes (Bring Me The Horizon) - I find them bearable because I think his vocals are quite refreshing for the whole 'death metal' genre...
Howlin' Pelle (The Hives)
Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin)
Natasha Khan (Bat For Lashes)
Bjork (Bjork)
Wally DeBecker (Gotye)
Robert Harvey (The Music)
So on.....

*Guitar*
Yannis Philippakis and Jimmy Smith (Foals) - fuck, simple as music. But together with the effects and sounds they can make with their instruments I absolutely adore Foals
John Butler (John Butler Trio)
Johnny Marr (The Smiths, Modest Mouse)
Omar Rodríguez-López (The Mars Volta, At The Drive In)
Josh Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age)

I will add to this one..

*Bass Guitar*
Jesse F Keeler (Death From Above 1979)
Flee (Red Hot Chilli Peppers)
Eric Judy (Modest Mouse)
Sting (The Police)
Dave Konopka (Battles)
Christopher Wolstenholme (Muse)
Walter Gervers (Foals) - this might come up a bit

*Drums*
John Bohnam (Led Zeppelin)
Travis Barker (Blink 182, Plus 44) - from a drummer's point of view, this guy can fucking drum.
Dominic Howard (Muse) - cause he is left handed as well ^^
Jack Bevan (Foals) - Im a bit of a fan of how he plays. Its not hard drumming but I think its quite effective the old disco drums
Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Them Crooked Vultures)
Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters) - just the passion
Thomas Pridgen (The Mars Volta)
Ringo Starr (The Beatles)
Jon Theradore (The Mars Volta)

I'll add other instruments later one.... Feel free to as well

While there's nothing particularly groundbreaking about these guys, I've been listening to their two albums, This December, It's One More And I'm Free and Illuminate, lately after being introduced by a friend and like them pretty well. The lead singer's voice reminds me a bit of Nate Ruess and Wesley Jensen and I really like the female vocalist and really wished she sung a bit more.

Anyway, thoughts?

This man, and band, are fucking talented. I didn't listen to them for a long period of time, and then I randomly had 'Stop the Fuckin' Car' stuck in my head. From there, I've been listening to a bunch of stuff on YouTube, and definitely am adding the Circa Survive CD's to any form of wishlist that I have.

He also sings for The Sound of Animals Fighting, which based on listening to two songs, are also pretty amazing. Basically, this man has a firm grip on my musical tastes right now.

As in, your favourite song from anywhere besides your country. a song that you cant help but sing to whenever it plays. one that you always sing, even if you cant.

it would be great if you could also add the video clip and the lyrics. but ya dont have to.

NENA 99 LUFTBALLONS

YouTube - Nina 99 luftballons (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Nina+99+luftballons&search_type=&aq=f)

LYRICS:

Hast Du etwas Zeit für mich
Dann singe ich ein Lied fuer Dich
Von 99 Luftballons
Auf ihrem Weg zum Horizont
Denkst Du vielleicht grad' an mich
Dann singe ich ein Lied fuer Dich
Von 99 Luftballons
Und dass sowas von sowas kommt

You and I in a little toy shop
Buy a bag of balloons with the money we've got.
Set them free at the break of dawn
'Til one by one, they were gone.
Back at base, bugs in the software
Flash the message, Something's out there.
Floating in the summer sky.
99 red balloons go by.

99 Luftballons
Auf ihrem Weg zum Horizont
Hielt man fuer UFOs aus dem All
Darum schickte ein General
Eine Fliegerstaffel hinterher
Alarm zu geben, wenn es so war
Dabei war da am Horizont
Nur 99 Luftballons

99 red balloons.
floating in the summer sky.
Panic bells, it's red alert.
There's something here from somewhere else.
The war machine springs to life.
Opens up one eager eye.
Focusing it on the sky.
Where 99 red balloons go by.

99 Duesenjaeger
Jeder war ein grosser Krieger
Hielten sich fuer Captain Kirk
Das gab ein grosses Feuerwerk
Die Nachbarn haben nichts gerafft
Und fuehlten sich gleich angemacht
Dabei schoss man am Horizont
Auf 99 Luftballons

99 Decision Street.
99 ministers meet.
To worry, worry, super-scurry.
Call the troops out in a hurry.
This is what we've waited for.
This is it boys, this is war.
The president is on the line
As 99 red balloons go by.

99 Kriegsminister
Streichholz und Benzinkanister
Hielten sich fuer schlaue Leute
Witterten schon fette Beute
Riefen: Krieg und wollten Macht
Mann, wer haette das gedacht
Dass es einmal soweit kommt
Wegen 99 Luftballons

99 Knights of the air
Ride super-high-tech jet fighters
Everyone's a superhero.
Everyone's a Captain Kirk.
With orders to identify.
To clarify and classify.
Scramble in the summer sky.
As 99 red balloons go by.

99 Jahre Krieg
Liessen keinen Platz fuer Sieger
Kriegsminister gibt es nicht mehr
Und auch keine Duesenflieger
Heute zieh ich meine Runden
Seh die Welt in Truemmern liegen
Hab' nen Luftballon gefunden
Denk' an Dich und lass' ihn fliegen

99 dreams I have had.
In every one a red balloon.
It's all over and I'm standing pretty.
In this dust that was a city.
If I could find a souvenier.
Just to prove the world was here.
And here is a red balloon
I think of you and let it go.

With orders to identify.
To clarify and classify.
Scramble in the summer sky.
As 99 red balloons go by.

99 Jahre Krieg
Liessen keinen Platz fuer Sieger
Kriegsminister gibt es nicht mehr
Und auch keine Duesenflieger
Heute zieh ich meine Runden
Seh die Welt in Truemmern liegen
Hab' nen Luftballon gefunden
Denk' an Dich und lass' ihn fliegen

99 dreams I have had.
In every one a red balloon.
It's all over and I'm standing pretty.
In this dust that was a city.
If I could find a souvenier.
Just to prove the world was here.
And here is a red balloon
I think of you and let it go.

Anyone ever heard of this synthpop singer? Strongly associated with Owl City, some fans call Adam Young "The male Lights" or call her "The female Owl City." I just learned about her yesterday, and I instantly liked her music. I'm prepared to buy her album next time I go to the mall.

Image: http://www.gardenofearthlydelights.com/fe12.jpg

Posted above is my favourite album of 2009 so far. Every song is a masterpiece. I listen to it about every other day. It is quite good.

Now I was very reluctant in getting a Dan Deacon album because I've always hated every band related to Animal Collective, but upon downloading his first studio album Spiderman of The Rings, I proved myself wrong. With Bromst, I immediately fell in love with the song Snookered, it's so good. (and apparently 10x better live) Eventually I fell in love with every song on the album as I fall in love with yet another hipster band...
