Unless I am mistaken, the subject marker should be が and not は, since the verb is いる.

Hmm. I think you're right. Lemme look up on that.

Sorry for the lack of lessons guys! I had so much homework, but luckily my due date was today and I finished! This weekend I will have time to type a new lesson ^.^

Interesting, I'm sure this'll get quite a bit of attention. Maybe if it ends up being popular enough, Someone should sticky it.

Also - I found this site to be very useful when learning hiragana/katakana, as it provides stroke order, mnemonics, quizzes, and pronounciation guides.

Kiddos, I suppose it's best to leave the Jap scene myself. It's aggravating after a while. Of course, the same dedication I used for this language will now be for programming.

Doesn't mean I can't help once in a while.

Yeah, plus there's no point. If Jappleng's lessons turn out good (www.jappleng.com) there's no reason for me to continue XD plus I don't have time.

Don't worry, Jappleng will pick up where I left off. I just simply don't have much time for this anymore.

IF, Jappleng doesn't have as good Japanese lessons as it advertise, I will find the time to pick this up again =)

こんにちわ!!LESSON 5 BEGINS NOW!!!

Learning "e" and "de".

Destination Indicator, e (へ):

It's not as flexible as ni, but e is sometimes used in place of it to emphasize a direction.
"e" is written with the Hiragana "he" (へ) but it is pronounced as if the "h" was silent. In other words, "e".

行きたい。
(Soto e ikitai.)
I want to go outside.

今日はどこ
(Kyou wa doko e?)
Where are you going today?

(Yes, the verb can be omitted here.)

明日、美術館行きます。
(Ashita, bijutsukan e ikimasu.)
We're going to the art museum tomorrow.

Action Indicator: de (で)

Particle de (で) is a preposition that shows us where an action takes place:

今日家食べる。
(Kyou, ie de taberu.)
I'll eat at home today.

子供達は公園遊んでいます。
(Kodomotachi wa kouen de asonde imasu.)
The kids are playing in the park.

Some exceptions are:
Use ni when the verb shows attachment to an object or place, and wo when the action passes a place or intentionally covers a wide area:

加奈はあの椅子座っている。
(Kana wa ano isu ni suwatte iru.)
Kana is sitting in that chair over there.

ビルは名古屋住んでいます。
(Biru wa Nagoya ni sunde imasu.)
Bill lives in Nagoya.

二つ目の角曲がってください。
(Futatsu me no kado wo magatte kudasai.)
Please turn at the second corner.

公園散歩しましょう。
(Kouen wo sanpo shimashou.)
Let's take a walk in the park.

De is used for "among":

私の友人ピアノを弾ける人がいない。
(Watashi no yuujin de piano no hikeru hito ga inai.)
There is no one among my friends that can play piano.

De also indicates a method:

お名前はペン書いてください。
(o-namae wa pen de kaite kudasai.)
Please write your name in pen.

現金払いましょう。
(Genkin de haraimashou.)
Let's pay with cash.

英語話してくれる?
(Eigo de hanshite kureru?)
Would you please speak English?

De is sometimes used before ii to say that something is good or sufficient as it is:

これいい。
(Kore de ii.)
This is okay. (It's good enough)

明日いい。
(Ashita de ii.)
Tomorrow will be okay.

De is sometimes combined with wa to show that something is done within the subject:

徳島では、毎年有名な祭りが行われる。
(Tokushima dewa, maitoshi yuumei na matsuri ga okonawareru.)
A famous festival is held in Tokushima every year.

Stay tuned for the next lesson, which will expound on the particle "No". I will also be lightly expounding on Kanji, how to use them, and the schedule in which Japanese children learn Kanji throughout their lives.

THAT'S IT FOR NOW, さよなら!!!
