That's not how formal debate works. If you simply want to discuss something about a movie, there exists the media discussion section for a reason.

Also, how does moderation work? You have the option to be a moderator or debater on every topic, right? For example, if someone wanted to be a moderator, or "judge", they would still be able to be a debater on some topics, right?

I think this is a great idea, especially as a nerd who has been in every debate team since year seven up to now... (6 six years).

And it's a nice collaborative way of pulling together a sound few ideas on a topic without mass arguments and trolling.

EDIT: Though I think adjudicating this would be particularly hard as you have to find someone or a group of people who are fairly open minded and un-bias.

I look at it as people will have their own little opinions, but will have to support whichever side they are chosen to spittoon for.

As in it won't be an absolute necessity, dummy. Research undoubtedly can be used to bolster one's argument and position, but at the same time many arguments can be successfully made with generic examples or thought experiments.

Even though I probably won't actually debate anything, I still think this would be interesting just to see on KHI. Of course, it could end up failing horribly, but with Orion running it, it should be fine.
