Internet taught me how to reheat take-out pizza in the oven.

Anyway, I guess the internet made me more ambitious about learning things on my own. Just thinking about how much info there is on the web makes me want to learn so many different things. It made me much more varied as a person, as I now have plenty of different hobbies that I enjoy, and there are still a lot more that I want to take up.

When I joined KHI like 5 years ago, I was very socially awkward, lonely, depressed, and had very little confidence. Being on the internet and interacting with the people there taught me that people were generally pleasant and kind to you regardless of how you personally felt about yourself, and that generally speaking there's no reason to have such a negative about yourself. I'm also brazilian, so talking to europeans and americans really changed my cultural views and political and social opinions. All the people I can call close friends I met through here or on the internet in general, at this point i'm so westernized that fraternizing with brazilians is a little hard for me.
This is exactly the same for me -- minus the Brazilian part. My exposure to the internet has affected the way I think, imo, for the better. I've also met some of the most intelligent and wonderful people I could ever hope to meet; people who taught me a lot.

Throughout the years I've come to realized that I don't have to be perfect. I used to be kind of a pessimistic and cynical because I felt I wasn't good at anything. Didn't have much of a social life (still don't actually), never dated, wasn't confident, thought I wasn't good at anything, etc. In short, I felt my life sucked, but over the past years I've really changed.

All that of that doesn't bother me anymore (am more confident now), and I'm okay with some of the ways that I am. People will like me for who I am, and if they don't, oh well. It's just the same way that I won't like everyone I meet. Not everyone is going to like me, nor should I care or worry if they do. To not let petty squabbles or emotions get in the way of friendships. Although I am adamant about who I call a friend; always have been.

Even then though, doesn't mean I won't strive to become a better person. I'm sure that there are quirks of mine or the way I've handled some things and am stubborn about them that my not be so good.

Internet in general has done so much for me, it changed so many things. I got to know other people, share opinions, it's been the best help for homework haha. It has also really helped me through tough times. As for when I became a member of KHI, which wasn't long ago, not really much has changed except for me getting to know other people, it helped me to understand KH's story better and I got back into graphics and I'm getting better at it day by day.

I wouldn't be the accepting strong-willed person I am now without joining KHi. (First forum/social site I ever joined, BTW.)

You guys made me realise just because you say something, doesn't mean I have to take it literally.
The first day i joined here someone said something really nasty to me, I logged off cried for a few hours and didn't log until months after.
Since then I have found so many friends that I want to meet in real life, people who inspire me and just all around awesome-ness.

If SOPA actually happened I'd be pretty lost, I know I've spent heaps of time away from here (usually months at a time)- but I always come back and you all accept me with arms wide open. ^^
I'd really miss every single one of you! T^T
And yes that was a very sad comic with so much thought and meaning to it, I could relate so much!~

I like this place. Got better connections with people here than with most irl, despite staying online (don't know if they feel the same though xD) So yeah, I'd be pretty lost if it somehow went away. Not forever, but I'd be pretty bummed for quite a while.

As far as KHI is concerned, I have a pretty tight group of people on here and still being open to others. I can remember for about a 2 week period I was a #junes 'regular' and that in and within itself was a plus seeing as I had my fair share of laughs. But to be honest, I never expected me building relationships as strong as adding people on facebook and even meeting up with people irl. Heck, I almost dated someone from KHI, but that's another story for another time.

This place is cool I guess.

The internet has taught me so many things about life and me. Although there are some things I would rather not have learned, they have helped me become a better person for the most part. I also have made so many good friends via the internet. Even if I do not get to see them it is great to get to talk to someone who may be half-way around the world. It has also shown me that even if there are differences between cultures and people, there are also so many things that make us alike and things that unite us as human beings. It has given me such a broader more open view about the world. I would be so lost without the internet. <3 I am still a somewhat shy person but with help from experiences online I have become a lot more social over the years.

    Superb~

The internet taught me how to formulate a strong opinion based on evidence, and improved my ability to debate. It also exposed me to a lot of new ideas and introduced me to some neat entertainment. I've also got a lot of laughs on various forums.

I can't say much about gaining confidence or any of that since I'm honestly more shy online than in normal life. And I didn't start using forums until I was 15 or 16.

    You.

Default Re: How has KHI or the internet in general changed/helped you?

I can't imagine my life without the internet or KHI. Even though I hardly post here, KHI played a big part in my life. I was never a really shy person, but KHI did help me figure out what kind of people I like to hang out with. I applied all my likes/ dislikes in real life.
If it weren't for KHI, I don't think I've ever would've met my first love. Yes, I really did go out with someone from here. I knew this person for about 3-4 years. During that course this particular person would visit me from the other side of the country to California. I'm not going to mention his name. But as time passed by our interest for each other grew, liked turned into love and the rest was history. He made me the happiest girl in the world and brought out a side of me that I never knew existed. It's been about 7 months now since we've called it quits, we no longer talk to each other, not even on facebook. The first three months were the hardest to recover. But life moves on and I'm grateful for everything. Wherever he's at and whatever he's doing, I hope he's happy just as must as I want to be with my own life.

With that being said, I really cannot imagine my life without this site existing.
I love the internet, I literally spend 10+ hrs connected to a network of some sort. For one my job involves the use of a computer. Being a reservations agent for an airline. I have our central reservations system pulled up, work email, schedule, our website JetBlue | Airline Tickets, Flights, and Airfare, whilst being connected to our server where I get incoming calls from customers. Using the internet and my resources is how I make money.

I cannot imagine my life without Facebook. I'm not a big update my status and have xxxxx amount of friends here kind of person. I like to travel, I haven't been to alot of places but when I do travel I stay at youth hostels (best way to meet new people from all over the world) the uploads of memories together (pics) the ability to talk to your friends and message them. social networking is an amazing way to keep in touch (skype) :P Specially for me that's someone that lives in the middle of nowhere but yet I have amazing friends all over the world. :)

Without the internet I wouldn't have developed the interests i like now. In fashion, learning new cooking trends, diy remodeling your home, etc. I spent countless hours figuring out how to do new crafts. Gotta love pinterest.com for helping me come up with ideas.

I'm in love with great photography (instagram!) makes you look at things at a different way.

And music. Instead of listening mainstream only shit that plays in the radio. I listen to the things people don't. I'm a bit of a hipster, gotta love indie music <3

If I weren't for the internet I'd be a different person. It helps you express yourself in a different way, and little before you know it that person that your creating online - becomes you in real life at one point or another.

That picture made me tear though, low key.
