These lines and statements most of you have heard in some way, shape, or form, are they valid? Or are they simply meant to express something that has no end in sight? My main question is, does infinity exist?

And no, not you Jezza, we all know you exist.

I mean can things really go on forever? I thought about it (yay for overthinking...) for a bit and I find it hard to actually say yes. I mean, we know things are finite, as in the have an end or a limited amount. Like air is finite, water is finite. Your snickers bar is finite because eventually it will run out. We can clearly see that things are finite, but infinity is merely used for when we don't really know how much.

Can we prove space goes on forever? Can we prove time will never stop? Or is infinity merely a label for the unknown?

Well that's what's on my mind, just thought I'd share it and see everyone else's take on it. :D

As a theoretical idea? Definitely. Though, I'm not sure how many things outside of that put it into practice. Granted, there's a difference between infinity, forever, and even eternal.

Also, for anyone that knows, does infinity include all values before and after a given value or just after? I'm pretty sure it's just after, but I'm not sure.

Depends on how you consider time as stopping. As mentioned before in the Big Rip, it might. If one is inside a space ship travelling at the speed of light, time inside the ship will slow down infinitely, aka, come to a stop.

I always thought infinity was a concept.

It's just because it's too huge to comprehend that we just give it 'infinity'.

At least, that's what I convinced myself.

In all honesty, what's the definition of time?

Like, time, will never stop. Even if it does. You could just say "it's been 5 hours since time has stopped". It can't stop.

There's no such thing as 'beyond infinity' but dealing with space, I'm not sure if it'd go on forever or not. I don't quite see how it could. There's got to be a point where it just leads back to where you started. Kinda just like a loop, but an enormous loop

Well, technically, time is just an organization method for events anyway. We've just given it degrees to better classify it, lol.

If it is an enormous loop then that wouldn't be infinity seeing as it is limited to it's loop. Also what pertains to a beginning and end of a loop hole?
