YouTube - Hey Hey It's Saturday - Racist Australians offend Harry Connick Jr after Golliwogg skit on Live TV

I personally don't see what is so bad about it. They were impersonating the Jackson 5 (despite there being six of them :P) and the Jackson 5 were/are black. And now people everywhere are labeling australians as racist drunk dumbasses. I don't get why so many people took offence. If you did then can you please explain why?

Hey, i'm black and i live in australia, and i dont find this offensive at all. they didn't mean any offence, they were just havin a laugh. it was a multicultural group that did the skit so i dont see why they would be racist.

People need to stop taking what is obviously intended as a joke too seriously. You think terra99032's gonna take offence at the above paragraph? Nah. He knows it's a joke.

I am australian and i didn't find it racist against black people at all. It's the white people who are exaggerating (i dont mean us i mean adult audience stuff) and thinking its racist against black people. Sometimes we all need to take a good joke.

It was a group of friends performing an impersonation of the Jackson 5 on a variety show. They weren't actors.

Here's a bit of info - Black Face was never an issue in Australia, as it is in America. It never occured here.

I understand why some people would think it racist because they went to the extremes in skin color and all, but people really need to stop and realize that they weren't trying to degrade anyone by doing what they did. If black people painted themselves white and did a skit about white people to be funny I doubt anyone would notice.
