It's just a general discussion and I'm trying to see how you guys thought of this era in American and world history. Parents and grandparents had told me that this was the best time and what not. I.E minus the racism, materialism, etc.

It did have some awesome TV ads.

In world history, I say it was awesome. Hooray for thousands of nukes aimed at other countries (not mine XD) with the leaders' fingers on the button. Actually, this is like 10 years past WWII but, yeah, go figure.

For America I really don't know. Heard the Americans squabbled over which cereal was best at that time.

World War II was the beginning of the Information Age. During Word War II nations raced for technological superiority, and it led to innovations ranging from RADAR to microwave control to atomic energy to what would eventually become the internet.

We owe our lives to World War II.

...but I would argue it matters much more. It marks the beginning of a different stage in human history.
