So, does anyone have no school today, Colombus's Day. Too bad I have to go to school, but this Friday is no school

It celebrates the day that Christopher Columbus discovered the country that Is America. Some debate whether it was actually him that discovered it. Others will say Amerigo Despuche (not sure if I spelled that right) because of his name 'Amerigo' - 'America'

It WAS Amerigo that founded America. Just the other side of it. But still, I have school today lol.

Not entirely true just the name America was believed to be derived from the feminized Latin version of his first name. If it was Amerigo that had discovered America, we'd be honoring him not Columbus.

Even though he did tricked natives into trading their gold and pearls for worthless pieces of terracotta and glass.

I'm actually extremely happy that some of the schools on my end aren't acknowledging Columbus Day as an actual historical event because he didn't really do anything, and only brought chaos.

Even though, I wish someone would come up with a miscellaneous jewish holiday to give Americans an excuse to randomly take the day off, just to compensate.

El día de la Hispanidad, right? Yeah, I went to college, first period Spanish I was helping organise some Spanish promotion stuff, second period French I was sitting in two Spanish lectures by Dr. Carmen Herrero about Spanish stereotypes and Almodóvar. I think the accent is in the right place. And then I was helping promote Spanish day even more by manning the tapas counter and giving away free tapas, though they were more like cut up cheese and ham and olives.
