Default Aids in Africa

Aid's,TB, and malaria are becoming a horrible epidemic in Africa. This trouble is making its way to other countries except ours. Since we found a way to control this outbreak in our country, we do not even care that much about the whole continent's problem. By the year of 2010, the death toll of AID/ HIV, TB, and malaria will be a staggering about 30 million people. The UN have tried to do things with private health care, but this made the poor people still stay in poverty and not get the medical attention they need because they are poor. This is a quote I surely believe in

"Tie the needs of the poor with the fears of the rich. When the rich are loose their fear, they are not willing to invest in the problems of the poor."

What do you think of this horrid happening in Africa. For more information look at globalissue.com

Your inability to actually compose a proper sentence, with proper grammar is funny. Secondly, you totally blow off the topic after acknowledging it with a proper sense of what it's about. I don't care about your "problems in Europe" we're just discussing other foreign affairs. "How sorry you feel for them" God, your stupid. Use your fucking head to maybe help come up with a solution, instead of talking pointless shit.

What the Hell is wrong with you, people won't be able to understand you on this site. And how do you know you can't actually help them. People do amazing things everyday, I just spent a month in Nepal and have been trying to stay in contact with them as much as possible. I know I can not make a difference and help people in this world by myself, but every time, me or you, do something to someone who is less advantage than you it can sometimes help them out some way.

no, dont get me wrong...I m just being realistic (and maybe pesimistic)
All I meant is that we all know how bad the situation is...also there isnt much us common ppl can do about it...sure u can join charity orginazation and try to help it out but....when it comes to charity...well I m usually being sceptic...
anyway I just dont know what could you expect ppl to say in this thread, which is why my intial reaction was as it was...

Why would you be sceptic about charities? Some of them can be pretty shady, but most are honest organizations trying to collect money in order to aid those who need medical treatment in these areas.

What is something you could say or post? How about givng an idea for a charity or other program to help the sick in Africa. EX: Since there is a vaccine against tuberculosis, form a charity that collects money in order to purchase, transport, and administer these vaccines to high risk people in Africa. Also, you could post a link to a certain organization that needs and deserves support in your eyes, or to a news story or program you found specifically moving in order to get others thinking about it.

Individual people are ripples in an ocean, but a large number of ripples can make a huge wave. This may sound cheesy, but it is the absolute truth. If every person in America donated just $5 to efforts to releave the medical situation in Africa, it would make a huge difference.

You would be surprised at how ignorant some people are about these happenings, and about AIDS itself. When asked about AIDS in my class, all one kid could think of was this: "Isn't that some super horrible disease you get from having sex?" While technically true, this was all that he knew.

If all you can say about it is that you feel sorry for them...THAT is pretty ":/".

why I am being sceptic about charity...hmmm perhaps becuase in many cases what drives those orginazations is not necessarily intention of help...In Europe there are large numbers of those charities...lots of them have connection with united europe goverment. Some of them also are being fund by these goverments...but sad reports, of which most ppl tend to forget shows these orginazations use that charity for sexual purposes...Belgium goverment...probably the worst...there are so many politician involved in phedofil. And they saying they trying to help kids...? hmmm...Not to mention tons of cases where these orginazations are being fund with huge amounts of moneys but suprisingly, those money gone missing. But as with everything it doesnt mean it happend in all cases, ofc it doesnt mean we should stop helping...:/
But u mentioned about that kid in class u had small idea of what AIDS is...what country was it? USA? if so that would explain a lot...
when it comes to helping Africa I would only support those charities that helps by doing research (medical etc)...I believe that kind of help has some actual strengh, if I am not wrong Bill Gates funds one of these?

Some charities are perfectly legitimate and do a lot to help others. But, I can see your point about corruption in certain charities. If you do proper research about a charity you are thinking about getting involved with, you can usually find out about scandals that may be associated with it.

This was in the USA. Which is the point. We are an important country in the world as of now, regardless of how incompitent some of us may be. Educating those in a country who are in a position to help is important.

If research is the kind of thing that you think will help the situation, then why didn't you just say that in the first place. That would be more constructive than saying that there is no way to fix it.

If everyone one in the world donated a dollar towards Africa, a whole lot could be done. If a lot of countries grouped together to try and help the situation, things will and can be done. It might take time but it isn't impossible.

Even the smallest donations can save a persons life. Africa is not a lost cause it's already come so far from where it used to be think if their were no charities and activists The Africa we know now would be so much worse. Only an ignorant douhe in their own world would say 'oh well."

An unavoidable occurrence in a continent that is predominantly made up of 3rd world nations. Since most governments in Africa are ill-equipped to deal with health problems do to not having enough funds, constant warfare, or lack of resources the situation will not change.

Since the welfare of people in other nations takes a backseat role to the welfare of the people within 1st world nations added with the fact that the United States and other nations with power are in an economic depression the needs of Africa, Central America, and South America will continue to be a secondary endeavor.
