| Knight of Zero | What? Dude..... We can barely pinpoint the stars in our galaxy. The only thing we know about the other galaxies locations is that they're there. Galaxies don't have tips, they only look like they have tips if you're seeing a picture of it in a textbook; the white part in a galaxy is a bunch of stars, and stars don't have tips, they're round. Dude, where are you getting this? No astronomer that has ever lived has said this. Galaxies don't align, and even if they did, it wouldn't be over such an incredibly short time like 25,800 years. Space events work in Ma (Megaannum, 1,000,000 years) or Ga (Gigaannum, 1,000,000,000), not in thousands of years, so even if it was possible, which it isn't, it'd be like once every 10 Ga or some such. Finally, how would things that are not even rotating around each other (galaxies) align? In fact galaxies are drifting apart. Last edited by Phoenix; 06/20/08 at 12:30 AM. |

| Knight of Zero | Mind linking us to a legitimate astronomy article, please? I mean, if this is true, loads of astronomers would've written about it, amirite? |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | I don't want the world to end! Nobody does. My mom says a famous fortane teller who still alive and is in his 100's said he saw it in a vision. He said this and made it national in the 1940's. All of his visions have come true. Will the world end though? Didn't God promise not to ruin his creation agan in Noah's Ark. Yawn Man I'm tired, anyway I thought we had power of our future, so let's not have it end. Let's stop global warming, let's stop nuclear war, let's so on!!! We have power to our future soo let's change that lame fortune!!!! |

Rep Power: 1 ![]() | i wouldn't take what he says for fact. what he says is that a tragedy will happen at a certain day, all of his visions are vauge, but since his last predicted tragedy will be december 12, 2012, people interpurate that as the end of the world |

| Banned | Well the ancient Mayans due to certain evidence were very intelligent astronomers, so its safe to say ppl in the past weren't stupid. But its also been discovered that the 2012 calendar bit is just a reversal. The calendar stops at this year and begins anew as O and so forth. Nothing fortelling the end of the world, but hey it's whatever |

| Twilight Knight | Who knows. I mentioned the Mayans along with a bunch of other crap during an ACT test essay and got a B+ on the thing. (probably because it was short. Apparently I supported my views though) The world will eventually die anyway. Humans just seem to be quickening the process, hm? |

There is no planet alignment in 2012 or any other time in the next several decades. Congratulations. I've never quite met anybody who posted a link that destroyed his own argument in the first sentence. Also, to end this once and for all, from the site you provided: Quote:

We all know about Noah's Ark story iin the bible right. If not learn it. Well those long days years whatever was ended with a rainbow. The rainbow is God's promise that he ill not flood the earth again. Well he flooded the earth to get rid of his creation but that. My point is the rainbow everytime we see one is just assuring that he won't destroy the earth. The day after I read this thread. I should have posted this but I saw a rainbow and it did not rain. No rain at all and we were sorta having drought[now were not we are getting so much rain]. That is just God assuring the world is not going to end. This has been brought up a million times before. Look these all the years I know of that people say its going to end... 1867- Based off the Greeks 1932- based off some muslim 1968-I believe romans 1999- Astronomers because of the 21 centuries birth 2012-some dumb or smart Myans I'm not goin to believe in what some dumb astronomers nor some Indians. I'm not a church freek either. I'm saying that the world is not going to end. P.S.1.I herd those diffrent resources not sure if they are correct 2.End this will you EDIT: Andy NASA has a point [for once] the earth won't die in our life time. Hah by the time it does die we might have involved into some giant or something. When the Earth ends it ends with the sun becoming a supernova and so on...The Life of a Star. We had to use this site for a projesct in school so it's honest. The sun don't end till 47.5 billion years from now. Read this... Wikipedia is my best friend Sun - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Now do you all believe me. Last edited by Star Light; 06/28/08 at 04:15 AM. | |
