Yeah apparently a man is pregnant. he is legally male but is both man and woman (transgendered) but he is pregnant with his wife's baby. the part that confuses me though is that if he is the one with a penis and his wife isn't HOW IS HE PREGNANT? especially with his wife's baby? article link below. there is also other info relating to this on yahoo

Pregnant man tells Oprah: It's a miracle

A transgender man who is six months pregnant said in an interview aired by Oprah Winfrey on Thursday that he always wanted to have a child and considers it a miracle.

"It's not a male or female desire to have a child. It's a human desire," a thinly bearded Thomas Beatie said. "I have a very stable male identity," he added, saying that pregnancy neither defines him nor makes him feel feminine.

Beatie, 34, who lives in Oregon, was born a woman but decided to become a man 10 years ago. He began taking testosterone treatments and had breast surgery to remove glands and flatten his chest.

"I opted not to do anything with my reproductive organs because I wanted to have a child one day," he told the talk show host. Beatie's wife Nancy said she inseminated him with a syringe using sperm purchased from a bank.

Now, he said, his size 32 jeans are getting a bit tight and his shirts are a bit stretched.

Nancy, to whom he has been married for five years and who has two grown daughters by a previous marriage, also appeared on the show, saying the couple's roles will not change once the baby is born.

"He's going to be the father and I'm going to be the mother," she said. Their marriage is legal and he is recognized under state law as a man.

The couple was shown on video provided by People Magazine, which collaborated with Winfrey on the show, showing the room that will be the baby's nursery. Beatie said the little girl was going to be "daddy's little princess."

The couple was also filmed in their hometown of Bend, Oregon, where he underwent an ultrasound showing the baby in his womb.

"I can't believe it. I can't believe she's inside me," Beatie said while watching the ultrasound image. "We see her as our little miracle."

His obstetrician, Dr. Kimberly James, who practices in the Oregon town, told Winfrey, "This is a normal pregnancy."

She said Beatie stopped taking testosterone two years ago and his levels of the hormone are normal.

"This baby is totally healthy," she said. "This is what I consider a normal pregnancy."

The couple said they had been turned down by a number of other doctors before James agreed to take him as a patient.

The couple said an earlier attempt at pregnancy failed when he developed a tubal pregnancy, resulting in surgery that removed his Fallopian tubes.

The couple said they decided to go public with the pregnancy because they wanted to control the way the news got out. "We're just going to have the baby now," Nancy said. "If we have to, we'll go hide."

The couple runs a small business in Bend and has some savings, she said. In addition, Beatie is working on a book about his childhood, his mother's suicide and his life growing in Hawaii where, as a girl, he was a teen beauty pageant contestant and earned a martial arts black belt.

Winfrey called the development "a new definition of what diversity means for everybody."

The Pregnant Man Grows Ever Larger in Buzz

On Thursday, Oprah introduced Oregon resident Thomas Beatie to anyone who hadn't yet heard of him. Beatie, a transgender man who is legally male, is six months pregnant with his and his wife's child. La Winfrey called the expectant situation "a new definition of what diversity means for everybody."

And everybody, it seems, is interested. Over the past seven days, searches for "pregnant man" rose 26,879%. Demand for "thomas beatie" grew more than 3,000%. Interest in "oregon man pregnant" has swelled 461%.

As for the skeptics who typed "man claims he is pregnant" and "pregnant man?" into Search, we can answer: Mr. Beatie retained his female reproductive organs. Because he has a uterus, he can get pregnant and carry a baby to term.

In Buzz, some of the most popular articles from the past week focused on the bun in Beatie's oven. As we posted earlier, Boing Boing and Huffington Post were two of the first sources to surface with articles on the story. Since then, the Huffington Post scored another hit with an item revealing more photos of the fertile daddy.

LilSugar, Yahoo! News, and People.com have also polled well with Buzz readers. The People.com article, which offers an exclusive video clip from today's Oprah appearance, is fast on its way to being the most voted-on article in Buzz today.

So has this childbearing event really redefined what diversity means for everybody? The tale certainly seems to have people thinking about gender issues. We've noted a surge in queries for "transgendered" and "transgender pregnancy." Lookups for "pregnant man" have flowed in from every state in the U.S. and every age group.

With the fruitful papa about to enter his third trimester, we may have three more months of this baby buzz. Enjoy it

Because a fetus/embryo doesn't need a uterus to survive, per say.
Scientists have discovered that the placenta can attach itself to the lining of the abdomen of a male/female and grow healthily just fine. A uterus is unnecessary. Of course, the child will have to deliver through C-section, otherwise it won't come out. lol.

That person can do whatever they want. It's their choice. Most of society doesn't care anymore about being macho or male image. They don't feel gender has an identity anymore that they can push on people. People can do whatever they want.

Anyway, I personally don't like it one bit, and if you ask me, in my opinion, regardless of how these fruity males who are all "LEAVE BRI---ME ALONE!!! I HAVE FEELINGS AND I WANT TO EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC OF GIVING LIFE TO A NEW CREATION BLAH BLAH BLAH" I don't think I agree with it. That's the woman's job. I feel God gave her that job for a reason. God gave men certain tasks, and women others. And if you want to trace it Biblically, women have to go through the pain and agony of childbirth because they tempted man into sin.

Parents, raise your kids right for goodness sake.

Males are males. Be happy with who you are. Why in the hell someone would want to take on all the displeasure of pregnancy, when they don't have to, just to achieve a maternal/parental satisfaction, is stupid in my opinion.

Obviously they just wanted to have a baby and didn't care about gender roles or what they don't have to do. All parents make a sacrifice to have children whether male or female and this dude just went further to bring a child into the world, I don't know why people even have kids in the first place but I guess it's something I won't understand til I'm older.

I think it's amazing that he did that when we know he didn't have to. It's whole hell of a lot more than what I would do to have a kid even though I couldn't anyways.

Saw this crap on the news the other night, couldn't believe it. He was being interviewed by Oprah or something. Reminds me of the "pregnant kid", which was simply an ingrown fetus.

Even though I do think it's a little weird that he's pregnant, I think he has a right to do what he wants. Simplified, he's a girl who felt like a man, yet he wanted to give birth to a child. I think it would be weird for the child he's giving birth to though. They're gonna have a rough time in school.:/

Lol, people can be raised wrong and still turn out fine. Speaking of Oprah, take her for example. She had a pretty crappy upbringing, with being raped by her uncle and living poor most of her childhood. But look at her now, she's a millionare.

Actually it is true. I watched Oprah on Thursday, which was April 3, and listened/watched the transgender talk about what he was going through. I saw him with my own two eeyyees!!! lol. but seriously it's true.
